  1. Have a read of this from the Financial Ombudsman - clicky. It may be useful to you if you end up disputing any offer made.
  2. We've done this for the last five years and had no issues with corrosion. Provided you don't leave the wheels in a filthy, salty state for any length of time you'll be fine - a weekly wash over the winter has proved to be enough preventative maintenance.
  3. Just done this on our Octy and Yetis - great mod and not too bad with the exception of one particularly stubborn pin on the Octy. The other thing I'd say is to only push the pin back in half way and then double check that the damper has fitted properly in the correct slots beofre pushing the pin home, because once the pin has been pushed back home fully you'll never get it out again.
  4. That's the standard insert for a later car than those that have the chrome inserts. You can get new inserts from your dealer.
  5. Sadly not, it was special order. It is the OEM part for the later facelift vRS. With a bit of luck someone will break theirs and want this one off me!
  6. Is this what you're after? We bought this hoping it would fit our 2010 Octavia vRS, but it doesn't fit - it's for the later cars. PM me if you want it - you can have for twelve quid posted
  7. Here's hoping for a positive response - please keep us updated.
  8. UK mx-5 forums are awash with complaints of soft paint and rust problems, and rust is an issue that is pretty prevalent in older Mazdas. The general feeling is that they are not properly protected form corrosion and that they suffer from our (UK) winters and salt laden roads, which is something they don't have to endure in their home market. Soft paint and poor paint finish is also a recurring theme on the mx-5 forums.
  9. Anyone feeling vulnerable could just invest a few quid in a physical deterrent - something like a stoplock for example. Having said that, a determined thief will take your car no matter what security is in place.
  10. If your pant is bubblingup on the rear hatch you should take teh car to a franchised dealer and ask them to sort it out for under warranty. They will take paint depth readings to satisfy themselves the paint is original and send photos off to Skoda to approve the repair. We've been through this process with an old Fabia, an Audi A6 and a Yeti. As Merlinman has said, all manufacturers now have to use modern water based paints and paint processes. These don't seem to be as durable as the old paint systems, but when you look at ten year old Skodas and compare them to other makes off a similar age I think the Skodas stand up pretty well.
  11. Paint and bodywork issues are well known (both skoda UK and regular forum readers) on the doors of Yetis, be that zinc inclusions or rust. I do not think it is unreasonable for new owners and members to seek help when they encounter difficulties in getting their bodywork issues resolved. The way I read these posts there are different issues between this post and Tiddys. Yes, both have bodywork/paint issues and yes, both are getting the runaround from Skoda, but for what appear to be quite different reasons. What I don't think is very constructive or helpful is for some of our more regular posters to berate the new members for sullying 'their' forum, nor is it particularly friendly or welcoming to accuse any new member who is having a problem with their Yeti to be a reincarnation of a previous troll. The threads just get derailed and don't do anything to help the original posters. And for what it's worth, I very much doubt that Volkswagen would recommend replacing all four doors if the issue was just zinc inclusions. To the OP - Fight your corner with Skoda Customer Services, and if you can get a decent franchised dealer to help your case that will certainly help. I hope you get this resolved and you get your car back properly repaired, and I hope that somebody has provided you with a courtesy car so you've not been left without a car.
  12. Yes they will :-) You might want to say how much you want for the wheels on their own.
  13. Yeah - no fuss, no argument. The car had done the 'boing' noise and no interior lights. I'd charged it up overnight but it was back to the low charge 'boing' a couple of days later. Booked it in and it was returned the same day with a fresh battery.
  14. You shouldn't have to go out buying diagnostic kit - if the battery has lost all its charge and the car is still under waranty just take it back to the dealer to look at. If the battery is duff they'll replace it under warranty. We had the battery in our Octavia replaced under warranty when the car was just under three years old.
  15. ProntoTec Axius 7 Inch Tablet. This is in excellent condition and still has the screen protection cover in place. I'm looking for £30 posted for this.
  16. Pentax Auto 110 20-40mm f2.8 Zoom Lens in excellent condition, fitted with a Pentax Skylight filter. It comes complete with the genuine original lens cap and in its original Pentax lens case. As you can see from the photos it is in excellent condition. The push-pull action of the zoom is smooth and the lens does not suffer from lens creep. The focusing is smooth and precise. The glass is free from scratches and fungus. As you can see from the photos, the foam in the case is starting to disintegrate slightly, but the case itself is also in very good condition. The lens is originally for the Pentax Auto 110 film SLR cameras, but can be used on other cameras using an adapter. It is well suited to the Pentax Q, and would also work well with other smaller mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. You will notice there are no aperture blades on the lens as this was dealt with by the Auto 110 body, so if you use this lens on another camera with an adapter it will always be wide open at a bright F2.8 throughout the zoom range - you can use lensbaby aperture discs (not supplied) in the adapter itself if you wish to use different apertures. These don't come up very often, and rarely with the case and skylight filter. I'm looking for £70 posted for this
  17. Asahi Pentax PC-LW407 wide angle fisheye lens adapter. This has a 46mm thread for attaching to your lens, but I've used it with a 52mm-46mm step down ring which is included in this sale. The lens is excellent condition and has barely been used. It comes with both front and back lens caps, instructions, a leatherette finish case and the original box and instruction booklet. I have used this with the standard Pentax 18-55mm lens. At the 18mm end you get the classic fisheye vignetting. This disappears at the 55mm end - I've attached photos showing the results. Obviously this can be used on any camera that accepts filters using an appropriate step down ring if required. I'm looking for £25 posted.
