  1. I also have pictures of the plugs i removed but don't know how to post pics on here (sorry I'm a newbie)
  2. Have changed all the plugs and all went fine. I still have the revs dropping when idling, both on normal drive and sport mode. Seems ok while driving but when idling the revs seem to drop off and the car sounds like it is struggling to keep running. This isn't constantly while idling, sometimes it settles and runs smoothly like i would expect it to then revs fluctuate again as engine sounds like its struggling to stay running. Is it time to check coils or should I maybe get it hooked up to VCDS and see what that comes up with? have also put some redex in the fuel to see if this might help.
  3. Also I was wondering, what is the correct gap for the plugs? I haven't had any re map done it's just standard engine.
  4. I checked my socket set, I have a 16mm one specifically for spark plug removal. Tool and plugs should be here by the weekend so new plugs should be in by early next week.
  5. Is there any specific diameter for the pipe, or is a bit of standard hose fine? Will prob be attempting this at the weekend or early part of next week so will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help so far. Also what is the correct gapping for the plugs?
  6. Right, coil removal tool is on its way. The spark plugs should come out with a normal deep socket right? I have a socket set at home so no need for the special tool to remove spark plugs?
  7. Thanks, i will try and make the tool. Did you use a coat hanger to make it? I'll post when i have done the work and update on the outcome.
  8. Hi, I have been having some problems with a misfire i think, the engine is dropping revs when it is idling, and the exhaust light came on very briefly a few days ago but went off within a minute or so. My car is a 2011 fabia vrs and there are 27000 miles on the clock. I'm pretty sure that the plugs haven't been done before as I bought it at 13500 miles and it has only had 1 service. I have been reading the threads from goneoffSKi about spark plugs and I will investigate very soon. Just wondering, are there any threads on how to remove all the ignition coils as i have read you can make your own tool but i have no idea how. Also, are the denso plugs that come up on euro car parts for the fabia ok to use? they cost about £12 each.
  9. I think so, mine was a straight swap but there are 2 types apparently. You will have to make sure you have the right one. Prob best to check with someone else on here that knows more about it than i do.
  10. Hi Phil, I managed to get a different unit and a refund for the previous one. Now id like to link the maxi dot with the columbus, is this something you could help with? I have been told i need to use the vcds to tell the maxi dot there is a sat nav now there.
  11. KBPhoto, Its a Mk 2 Vrs. adamal, an auto electrician looked at it today and he said its not a coding issue. He said its the speaker connectors inside the unit and it will cost more than its worth to fix. I got it from ebay so will be sending it back for refund and will look at trying to find another one that i can test before i buy next time. Thanks for your help tho guys.
  12. Sorry, no, it's the radio and nav too. The sounds from the unit when you select things on the screen too, so the audio channels thing sounds like it needs to be done, also, how do I know which generation unit I have and which I had previously?
  13. Just a quick question, I have just retrofit a RNS 510 to my fabia vrs and have no sound. I have been told I need to re configure the audio channels. Is this easy enough to do because I don't really know where to start, or should I just go to an auto electrician?
  14. Hi everyone, I have just retrofit a used Columbus RNS-510 into my fabia vrs, all working fine as far as I can see apart from the sound. There is no sound from cd playback, radio, nav or when I press options on the screen. Is this an easy problem to fix by re coding or is the unit defective? Like I said, everything is working great apart from the sound.
  15. Thanks for your help. Im in Maidstone, i suppose i could post something on here and try to find someone with the CD. Would they charge if i took it to a main dealer or Skoda specialist to do?
  16. Ha Ha, don't think I'm ready yet!! lol Im busy any way.
  17. I have also just bought a columbus unit and was planning to fit it myself, just wondered if i need any extra connections for the unit to work or should they all be there? I have the original swift unit at the moment and the columbus comes with the gps aerial. Also, how do i do the gateway coding?
  18. Hi, Im Chris and this is the first forum i have ever joined. Recently bought a Fabia vrs 2011, loving it so far, just here to use the benefit of other owners knowledge really. Come and say hi whenever you like.
