  1. DEFA always serves us Norwegians... Both engine filament and coupe warmer that is fairly thin and nice design to it.
  2. Thought the 315 was 310 for American market?I'm really not into all these... :D
  3. Yes. Ebay holds, say 5-6 different types, with poor branding and visually same hardware in the dusins. I liked the somewhat ok looks of these kits, and hope it'll be fairly easy to tuck away.
  4. Fun illy enough ended up with same £20 kit for retrofit as yours Blackbird.
  5. Ours is a 2013 model (aug 12) with Amundsen+, so eh... RNS-310 updated version or so in VW terms?
  6. I got that, but was hoping for some kits with "all in one" units - ballasts including the resistor needed to avoid bulb fault warning. At the end of the day, it seems few of these kits have that (I haven't seen any atleast), so maybe just ordering 2x additional headlamp back caps and a eBay-kit would get us going with proper light. With local MOT rules though, I need to be able to swap back to H3 bulbs when needed, with no trace of HID kit. Luckily the Roomster 1.2 TSI engine bay looks spacious enough though,
  7. I am no familiar with the HID kits, but I do question the multi-box arrangements. I guess there are some resistor way of additional box(es) to make the monitoring system think it's all OK on such a newer car? I deally; 35W + 4300 kelvin + H3 + all-in-one-ballast + bulb harness incl rubber gasket
  8. You lot with the HID kits (I have the facelift H3 version DE lamps), any kits of ebay to recommend etc? I did the Nightbreaker change, but they'd do better in the full beams than dipped beam... Think 35W 4300K kit is what I want.
  9. Have you then also checked the 185/55R15 tyre dimension? I think that would be more reasonable (Golf mk3 size, isn't it?). I believe the 195/55 was only fitted to the VR6, but also a dimension now seen on new Polo and Fabia, right? (Maybe Roomster sub 1.2TSI engines has this listed in filler cap.)
  10. I hear you... functionality of urban living is just brilliant in these ones. Don't get me wrong, I love the quality of the Octy 3 when driving it...but getting to work, I actually prefer just jumping into the Roomster. Thansk for the heads up, I too suspect it just being a warning. Wasn't sure it related to putting the car in parking before leaving it etc, or doors or steering wheel. Who knows. But indeed there is the auto lock on time, I can confirm that.
  11. I would almost put my money on that some Roomsters may come with the 185/55 dimension tires, others the 195/55. May be different engine sizes etc... Offset is usually not an issue if +- 5mm of what the car came with originally (by laws in Norway), and personally I've ran <= 15mm lower ET on cars with no hassle (depending on car and overall dimensions of rims and tyre).
  12. By the way, I've noticed a warning when killing the ignition. "Please check deadlock in manual" etc. What the heck is that? I have a Norwegian setup car (and manual), but this message is in english somehow.
  13. Agree, but the traffic is usually 0 - 70 km/h style...
  14. It's a little strange, as I see higher consumption on this in morning rush than on the Octy 3 (bigger engine, bigger car). Anyone with similar experience?
  15. After having ran the old mk2 Golf for quite a while as my daily '95 Polo suffered a leaky sump gasket, we really started seeing the need of a seconday baby carrier / MPV. Looking for a Touran, we really suffered due our demand for a petrol car (Oslo is moving towards having additional fees for TDIs, we're having none of that), and we have been so happy with the Octy 3 TSI + DSG combo. One day my girlfriend asked about the Roomster and what that was. From my days at Skoda dealership I ofcourse knew the model well, but never thought of it. So that is many years ago, and we started looking. Seeing the ads, we finally found this car, a 10 min drive at a dealership (far up north) whewre my girlfriend grew up. So while I was away doing work in Sweden (riding RIBs in the archipelago), she bought it. 2013 Roomster (late 2012) 1.2 TSI 105hp, DSG 7-speed 'Family' trim/package (Scout plastic, special cloth, Climatronic, MDI, 8 speakers, parking sensor,...) GSM-II w/o phone cradle Amundsen+ 15" winters in the "Scout" design 15" ugly buble spokes-style summers So overall, this meant a rather nice functional purchase. By accident googline Roomster, I also found old data from dealership listing the car £2 grand above our starting price. Sadly, they were to mount a dismountable tow bar etc at an split price, but it didn't make it there in time before we got parents in law to pick it up coming down for a visit. Also, I found out they advertised it with cruise control, so they will have to cover the dealership upgrade down here, sadly. I say sadly, as the purchase and all was great in all aspects. In the mean time, I've simply enjoyed this actually rather nifty little daily, putting some Nightbreakers and Diadems on it. The DE-lenses seems a little dirty, and I suspect this is due dirt and condence in the headlamps (seen on ads for the car). Found bluevision W5Ws in there already so... MDI was $11 from Australia, so it made sense too, if we want something "integrated" to power up our iPhones. If anything, I miss having power windows at the rear too, as we're doing Sonniboys on t his one too, and that is a really great combo of functinality with toddlers in the rear.
  16. No, it's setup from factory to be always on on all cars sold through Norwegian importer. We simply make a choice of the "added extra" on the lights in night mode, or in my case - I do this to get lights in all buttons and instrument functions.
  17. Very strange, but I was a little unsatisfied with the instrument cluster... Driving in dark Norway, I didn't like no info except lit needles in normal mode. A shame to turn for night mode all the time... Then we pulled a diagnostic scan. Voila. By some miracle (car hick up?) there is now also info in the info-screen with the speed in bright white letters, and I can toggle car computer data. So, no big thing to consider, but I do approx 6.5 L/10 km it seems, that is local traffic only.
  18. We got a late 2012 (2013 model), but I'm not too worried. Will follow services and has factory warranty until 5 years/100 000kms, and insurance also covers until 8 years/200 000kms. Either way, for me it seems the 1.4 TSIs are worse off than the 1.2s, although much the same. Primarily I understand overrunning on oil intervals is a major killer, so I got my programmed for 15 kkm intervals.
  19. Hi all, I am not sure if this is covered somewhere amongst a heap of other VCDS andt tricked coding in here... Recently got hold of our 2013 (late 2012) Roomster, and I really miss having the instrument and button backlighting ON, no matter conditions outside (because Norway...). This is okay on the Octy 3 due sensors for DRL and so on with the Auto-mode on the light switch, but there's none of this on the Roomster. Can anyone shed some light IF it is doable and what data to change to achieve this? (Not in any way familiar myself, but a friend has the tool for coding...)
  20. Yeah, this just happened here too with our first go with the Roomster. She's on her way home with even emptier tank now... It sounds to me the same principle as the mk2 Golf I still have around. But she complained about the regular flip-key not fitting. No idea.
  21. Hi guys, My recently gotten 2013 (late 2012) Roomster also came with the Amundsen+ navigation. Things have change in these years infrastructural, so I want to know in detail about possibilities for the upgrade. From what I read above, the Amundsen+ is to be upgraded through SD card only, so no CD-ROM is of relevance. It seems the usage of any RNS-310 map update across the VAG brands will work? It seems Europe West now is at V8 (version 8). Can anyone confirm that maps are universal for Amundsen and Amundsen ?
  22. Hi guys, So we FINALLY got the Roomster home on Friday, and got to take it into the city a couple of times. Overall pretty happy, but we must also admit there are some functionalities we are missing from the Octy 3. Oh well... One of the things that are not only missing, but also proven slightly annoying, is the lack of dome light for the rear seats. You may wonder why this is, but we are using this car for getting our kids around. And when you do that, you tend to want to see them in the mirror as you're driving, stand there fettling with a stupid childrens seat belt buckle, and so on... Having a dome light there, connected to the dome light up front would be great (door triggered both front and rear, with individual "always on"). Has anyone done this before? There is the spacing in the profile of the roofliner maybe?
  23. Crap. Finally got our 2013 Roomster, and I assumed the same thing... :(
  24. Looks promising, as I may utilize the Roomster attending track days with campover.
