BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
I think it was a White Soul with a red roof? The only one they had. Yes the Kona, Kamiq & Arona are quite small. The Arona is the smallest of the three I think. Nearly got a Kamiq but we settled for a 1.5 Karoq because it had a pan roof & 4 x 4.

We saw a Soul today as well. Wife didn't like the Stormtrooper look to the front end. There's no pleasing some people.

BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
After seeing the Pug 2008, E-C4, E-208, Corsa-e, Mokka-e & a DS3 all on the same site today I think the Stellantis models are a no. We did also see some Kona's & Niro's today which got a more favourable reaction from my wife. They were a bit more expensive but have longer ranges. Saw a few Mini's today as well but the 2 doors & the 100 mile range is not enough. I think the search is narrowing down to a Kona. Might wait until the new Knona comes out (soon) which should drop the prices of the current used models, hopefully.

BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
I now am. After looking at the Pug E-2008 today it got the thumbs down from my wife. Apparently the bonnet is too big๐. Saw some Kona's on the same site which got a better response from my car blind wife - she's been caught trying to get into the wrong car more than once!! And one of them wasn't even the same colour or make as hers๐

Agreed. But it would be too big (long) for my wife.

The MG5 is too long for my wife. She struggles with my Superb Estate whe she has to drive that from time to time.

Pug E-2008 Thoughts & any issues?
Anyone got or had any experience with a Pug E-2008? I'm thinking of getting a used one 1-2 years old. Seen a GT spec with pano roof for ยฃ23k.

BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
I would but it's too big for the Mrs. She even finds her Karoq a bit too big for her day to day driving so we need something smaller. A Kamiq or Fabia EV would have been fine but of course they are not available. ID3 is a no as well due to it's god awful infotainment & interior quality. I'm currently looking at a 22 plate Pug E-2008 GT. Just not sure my wife will get on with the position of the silly little steering wheel pugs have now. I need her to get a test drive to confirm if it's a goer or not.

Skoda announce six new EVs by 2026
It's a bit too little, & too late. I'm looking for a small-ish EV with a decent boot. An EV version of the Kamiq or Fabia would have be fine but since they stopped making the Citigo there's nothing smaller than the Enyaq. No more over priced over sized SUV's please!!!

BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
In reality we are nearer the ยฃ20k price bracket so it will have to be a used model of some description. It needs to have a decent boot space, 4/5 doors & the Mrs wants heated seats, blind spot monitoring, pano roof & a shed load of other features. Problem is she's got used to all the features on her Karoq Edition & is reluctant to go without them in the replacement EV. Typical. The reality is we will probably keep her Karoq, which I will take over, & (much to my regret) sell my Superb 280 L&K Estate to make way for the EV. I will miss the power & practicality of the Superb. I'm looking at some Stellantis models like E-2008, Mokka-E, EC4 & possibly an E-208 but some of those cannot have a pano roof & some don't have a rear wiper (a pet hate of mine) which is a pain. MG4 is not to our taste (no rear wiper or pano roof) & is missing some other basic amenities like no rear interior lights, dark interior & no rear centre seat headrest. MG ZS is also a non starter because of undersized wheels & it's goofy looks. ID3 is still too expensive & it's carp infotainment system would preclude it anyway. Don't like the look of Tesla's which are too expensive anyway. Love the look of the Polestar 2 but too expensive & no rear wiper. Why is it we always like the things we cannot afford?

Not cheap. Think it cost me over ยฃ1k including front discs & pads at a VAG independent.

BYD Atto 3 - Short UK Test drive
As per the title I had a short spin in an Atto 3 yesterday courtesy of Stratstone MK - previously a Jag dealership. It was not bad at all. It was our first time in an EV so me & the Mrs were curious to find out more & whether something like the Atto3 could be on our list as a future replacement for one or both of our current cars. It's a well specced & built car - even the base model has an opening pano roof & all the driving aids. Only ยฃ2k extra for the top spec model which adds V2L, a powered tailgate & a few other bit's. LFP battery with 260 mile range, a bit of a wild interior, 7.1 secs to 60mph reasonable size boot & rear passenger space. No frunk but quite a bit to like. BYD are offering ยฃ3k contribution for their finance plan at the moment. We have previously looked at an MG4 & ZS but not driven either. By comparison the Atto3 is a better built & finished car. More expensive as well. Unfortunately it's out of our price range as a new car. If it was selling for the same price as it is in OZ & NZ (ยฃ10k cheaper over there) it might have been a different matter. I guess we will have to watch the market & test a few more makes / models before we make a final decision. Either way it will have to be a used model of some sort, prices for which are starting to get a bit more reasonable. I quite like the look of the Polestar 2 but used prices for them are still in excess of ยฃ30k & it doesn't have a rear wiper - a pet hate of mine & an essential item for any hatch, estate or SUV / crossover in the UK, IMO. The search continues.

The 280PS Thread
Mine's been OK-ish. Yes water pump started leaking at 50k miles - not cheap. Known problem due to dissimilar pump & pipe materials? So I was told. Redesigned replacement kit solves the problem - so I was told by my independent service guy. Other than that it's been good. I got it mine at 25k miles in 2018 (2 years old) & it now has 58k miles. Used it for commuting to & from work for 3 years & now just local runs & holidays. One set of tyres early on. The rears were down to the canvass on the inside at 30k! Rear camber / tracking must have been out of whack from the factory. 4 wheel alignment done to sort it out. 2nd set of tyres at 50k. There's a lot of roundabouts where I live so the fronts get a lot of wear. I try to switch fronts to back to even up the wear as best I can but inevitably the fronts always seem to go first. Haldex oil & filter done at 40k if I recall. Front discs & pads done fairly recently as well along with usual annual service / oil changes & MOT's. Still an immensely quick & practical car as a hatch or a wagon. Not the best car for fuel consumption. 36mpg on a run & 26mpg around town. But for the Q car grin factor it can't be beaten IMO. Mine might have to go soon as I'm considering getting an EV at some point. I will miss the huge boot but I reckon the right EV could match or better its sub 5 sec 0-60mph.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
After two diamond cut refurbishments I decided to go black powder coat. They look the biz & match the paint - ish. Next job is to do something about the rusty hubs. Since this pic was taken they now have Skoda centre caps stuck onto the plain black wheel centres which looks better.

Had my 19" Trinity's powder coated black. Hides the grime for a good while & the wider spokes make for easy enough cleaning when the time comes.

**SOLD** SUPERB L&K Estate, 2.0 Tsi DSG 280PS
Similar to my 2016 56k & same colour example except I have no Pan Roof, rear camera, vented seats or heated steering wheel. Not sure about the passenger memory seat either. I do have integral rear door sun screens, rear seat dog guard (never used), heated front windscreen & a REVO Stg 1 remap. Fabulous Q car. I'm considering selling mine at some point to make way for a smallish EV for us to use for local trips & I will take over my wife's Karoq for longer trip & hols. It's going to be a wrench to let it go when the time comes. I'm surprised you haven't had many sensible offers or enquiries for what is a rarish & desirable model.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Silver is one of the best colours for hiding dirt. I had a silver Audi A6 Avant a few years ago & could leave it for months on end before it visibly needed a clean. Now I have a met Black Superb & my wife has a white Karoq. Two of the worst colours for showing dirt. Thinking about adding some paint protection when it gets warmer to make the cleaning process easier.

Karoq bonnet struts
I fitted some aftermarket struts to my wife's 19 plate Karoq (Ali Express). There are some pics I posted on here somewhere but I can't find them. Easy-ish to fit but I did need to fashion a spacer between the underside of the bonnet & the strut bracket to take up some slack. I used some plastic carpentry wedges cut to size. I also filed down the rough edges on the chunky bonnet bracket & gave them a spray of satin black to smarten them up. "Bit of weekend" work as Mathewsons would say!! Works OK. The struts are not overly powerful but they do help lifting it up.

1.5 TSI engine cover
Wow. That's cost cutting on a whole new level.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
It does make quite a difference. At least yours looks clean. After a 100 mile round trip today to Burford & Swindon mine looks like it's just done the Paris to Dakar rally!! HS2 works all over the place & heaps of mud on the roads.

I'd get the tyres off them, deduct fitting charge & get them fitted somewhere else.

Low mileage year here as well. Probably similar to you. Rusting hubs are on my list to sort. Very noticeable eyesaw through the alloys. Nothing too expensive but when the weather warms up, wheels off, clean off surface rust on hubs, treat & spray paint black. Might even have a go at the calipers as well. No DCC issues yet๐ค. Had new discs a few months ago (56k) & last MOT was advisory free. Still lovin the 280 L&K Estate.

Best I've ever managed is 36mpg.

What have you done to your Karoq today?
TBH our local tap water is quite hard so I use filtered water from the fridge to dilute the screen wash. For the screenwash itself I normally use Prestone from Costco which can be used neat or diluted to suit conditions. Quite good value as well.

What have you done to your Karoq today?
It's been -4 to -5c where I am for the last few nights. Warming up a bit now though. I'll be reducing to 50/50 washer fluid soon because with the amount of salt & grit on the roads it won't be long before both cars are empty again.
