4 mile round trip!! Does it get fully warmed up in 2 miles? Your mpg must be well south of 25. I tried but I couldn't get on with E / coast mode. Watching the rev counter drop to 900rpm when I was travelling at 65mph was just wrong. I also found I was using the brakes much more to compensate for the lack of engine braking. I quickly went back to D mode & Sport when needed.

That's quite a jump from a 1.4TSi to a 280! If it's idling at 1,200rpm then it's probably in Sport mode. In D mode mine idles around 800rpm & my 6 speed DSG is fairly smooth & relaxed. In Sport mode the gear changes are more aggressive & at higher revs. Of course you can also use the steering wheel paddles or gear shifter to change gear manually. Personally I have my DCC set for Sport & leave the DSG in D for most of the time & use the paddle downshift when slowing down.

Somewhere on this forum I remember seeing a home made vario floor that a guy did on his Superb or, was it an Octavia? Personally I don't see the point of paying extra to get a smaller boot & a flat floor. Just give me the biggest boot possible. I don't care if it has a lip to the tailgate or the back seats I just want the space to get my stuff in & space for a full size of skinny spare wheel.

Ah, So the game of Tetris begins. 🤔 I have fond memories of packing my car up for 2 week camping trips to France (including tents, tables etc). Just when you think you've shoehorned everything in & onto the roof, my wife produces two more bags of something that need to go in. I found clothes in bin liners were much easier to squash into a roof box than suitcases.

I drive mine in Sport mode about 30% of the time and you are right, with the XLR in R or R+ mode & Sport selected on the DSG, forward progress is fairly savage. I would call it "Hooligan mode"!! So my XLR stays in N mode. I took the XLR off of my my wife's old Karoq 1.5 DSG when we traded it in for her current EV & fitted it to my Superb to see if it would sharpen up the D mode throttle response which, even with the stage 1 Revo remap, was still a bit hesitant off the line. It works quite well. I was thinking about getting the DSG re-mapped as well but I think that might be a step too far. I dropped a friend off at the local train station in the Superb the other day & he was astonished at the effortless acceleration compared to his 2.2 Diesel Mondeo Vignale - which he has had chipped as well. Think he was getting around 245bhp & silly torque numbers. The Superb 280 Estate really is a car that I would find very hard to part with because there's not much else out their that comes anywhere close to it for performance, space, comfort or for similar money.

Do the Stage 1 remap first & then see if you need the pedal box. I also seem to remember that there is an "Audi Throttle" setting buried in the cars software somewhere but that is going to need VCDS or similar to access it. I have a Race Chip XLR fitted to mine set to Normal mode because anything else is too aggressive.

Did you take the wheels off or leave them on? I did mine with the wheels on & used a 90 degree screw driver attachment. A very handy tool.

Well I tried to listen to the ventilated seat noise level in the Kona but TBH I couldn't hear them over the background hubbub coming from the 3 other passengers en-route to our monthly breakfast meet up. Failed test. On the plus side, the remote control of the heated seats via my wife's phone App worked well though. All 4 seats & steering wheel nice & toasty when we got into the Kona on what was a chilly day. As I said earlier I don't use the heated seats in my Superb & it doesn't have a heated steering wheel either. Just not something I've ever bothered with. My wife on the other hand uses the passenger heated seat in the Superb all the time.

TBH I've not used the ventilated seats in her car so I can't say. I'm driving it on Tues so I'll do a test.

So they don't blow smoke up your backside then 🤣 My wife's Kona has heated & ventilated seats. My view is that the heated seats give you piles & the ventilation cools them down! Don't think I've used the heated seats in my Superb🤔

I have a Revo Stage 1 with the std Turbo. +80bhp. Installed a couple of years ago by a local Revo & VAG specialist. The acceleration in Sport mode is almost savage. Even D mode it is very quick for everyday driving. I also have a Race Chip XLR Throttle pedal fitted which was swapped to my Superb from my wife's Karoq when we moved it on. This takes out the slight hesitation on the DSG & TBH in anything more than normal mode (on the XLR) & the response is almost undrivable. Normal setting on the XLR is fine & overall the car is plenty quick enough for me.

I replaced mine last year as part of a reversing camera upgrade. Had a devils own job to get the old one out which I managed to break one of the tangs off. And that was with the rear hatch panel off as well so I had access to it on both sides. Skinned a few knuckles that day!

Found an even better one. 720bhp 2.5litre 5 cylinder Superb. Have to admit this one is not as subtle but impressive none the less. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN7T2_ERG9Y

Won't most autos hold the car in P without the parking brake? I might try this.

I used it for the first time since I filled it up two weeks ago. Kessy refused to work (battery probably low) but the key fob opened it & it fired up first time as always. Big clunk as I reversed off my drive & the parking brake let go. 4 discs rusty as hell until I returned from a 30 mins drive to the shops & back. Discs are now nice & silvery until tomorrow morning when they will start to rust again - anyone else notice this "quick to rust" phenomena on their discs? The hubs are also rusty which I need to address. I've got some Hammerite direct to rust black paint to apply when the weather warms up. Black wheel nut covers also now on in place of the earlier silver ones in the pic below. It was so nice to drive an analogue car again after using our EV for all our journeys this last two weeks. As quick as the EV is the Superb can beat it hands down (wet or dry) & it sounds like a real car & not a space ship.🚀

Acid / aggressive Wheel cleaner is the prime suspect. Specially the stuff they use at the hand wash places - not that you use those establishments. £62 is daylight robbery for a set of 4 wheel caps. When I changed mine a while ago I got plain black centres (to match my new wheel colour) & a set of 4 stick on silver Skoda centres. All from Ali Express I think. Alternatively have a look at these from Amazon at £15 for a set of 4. At that price you could get 3 sets & still come out cheaper. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IY7ZM1C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are 56mm dia but if they are a bit loose run some electrical tape around around them to close up the gap & hold on properly.

I like BH products. I use Touchless, Auto Wheels & I've got some Surfex HD which I have yet to use - engine bay clean up beckons.

Don't think so as that name doesn't ring bell & too far away from me to have considered them.

My Trinity alloys were also diamond cut & I had have them refurbed a couple of times over the years. In the end I decided that powder coating them black to match the body colour offered better protection, gave the car a meaner look, & hides the road grime & brake dust. At £60+vat per wheel it was also cheaper than having them traditionally refurbed & diamond cut.

Nice. This reminds me that I need to clean up & paint my rusty wheel hubs which, once I get the wheels off to do it, will no doubt lead me to do exactly the same to the inside of my wheels. That said they probably won't be as bad as yours because I had my Trinity alloys powder coated black 18 months ago so they should be better shape. Waiting for warmer & dryer weather though.

Yep. I washed our two the other day for the first time this year. Not such an intensive process as yours, just a BH Touchless foam covering, jet rinse, then a wash with Autobrite Graphite infused shampoo (new to me), rinse & BH wheel cleaner. No drying necessary because I now have a pure water filter which works a treat & saves the arm ache of drying the cars by hand. I also find that a leaf blower also gets rid of the majority of water quite easily. Especially handy for my wife's taller Kona roof. Typing this reminds me I have to touch in & polish some scratches on my roof as well. However, even with the labour saving devices, I was still aching & stiff for a day after. Getting older sucks.
