  1. Has anyone had an issue with their intermittent wipe not working on the windscreen. If I turn on the IW, it will wipe once and then that is it. All four positions on the wiper stalk are the same. From what I have read it could be a relay, the windscreen sensor or something else. Any advice much appreciated. If I take it to the Skoda dealer, then it's going to be £100 before you know it.
  2. I got the letter yesterday from Skoda and I did have the emissions fix done as soon as it was notified years ago. I don't mind having the indicator fix done if it would only take an hour trouble is from my experience Skoda workshops rarely if at all meet the timescales they say and once they have your car you are knackered. Might call my local garage that does all the servicing of my Superb and see if he has access to the fix as he uses a device to check all the electronics when it is serviced and can remap it if you want that too (I didn't).
  3. Yeah I did that to put it in repeat mode in the first place but can't get it out of repeat mode now.
  4. I am using MDI in the centre arm console which allows you to plug in a USB stick. Have used the repeat function previously and never had a problem until recently.
  5. Audio part of media on the Columbus RN510 system is stuck on repeat and I cannot figure out a way to remove the repeat function so stuck with the same song over and over playing from a USB stick. I did select repeat but can't seem to work out how to get out of it. Any suggestions/solutions/ideas ?
  6. Unconvinced I recently did a test and ran the vehicle over 1000 miles using BP Ultimate Diesel. First thing I noticed was it ran smoother and there was an improvement in fuel consumption compared with supermarket diesel fuel. Not enough to warrant the price difference though. Given premium fuel is about 11-13% more expensive, I could only get a 5.5 - 6.5% improvement in fuel consumption. Question therefore is it worth it ? Depends on whether you subscribe to the theory that premium fuel is better for your engine overall and cleans the engine and fuel systems I guess. The other thing I noticed though was that using the premium diesel I was getting inaccurate readings on the ave. consumption computer. It said I was achieving >70 mpg but the reality was not much above 54mpg (supermarket diesel was giving me around 50/51 mpg over 3 yrs). Readings from the computer were more accurate using supermarket fuel.
  7. Just rang my local Skoda dealer who the car came from to get a price for the 30k service on my Superb Estate. They then said likely the brake fluid needs to be changed also and quoted me an additional cost. Why therefore is it not part of the Skoda service schedule at 30k or 3 yrs I asked ? Sounds like another Skoda dealer rip off to me so I rang my local garage who is a VW, Seat, Skoda specialist (not a dealer) and he (a) quoted me a cheaper price for the 30k service, not much maybe £25 cheaper but on the brake fluid matter he says it only needs changing if there is more than 3% water in the fluid which he will check otherwise it does not need changing. Also said the fuel filter may need changing but again he will check before replacing it. Am getting tired of the Skoda dealer. Everytime they try to convince you there is something extra that needs attention.
  8. Thank you for all the comments posted in reply to my original question. Don't suppose anyone has gone to the expense of buying a genuine Skoda DVD to update their maps for the Columbus RN-510 and willing to send it to me. Obviously I am prepared to contribute to the cost and return postage.
  9. Am assuming I have a MkII Superb (was bought new 2014). The Columbus system factory installed has an SD card slot in the front. Can I not use this to update the maps or does it have to be done using CD. There was no CD or SD supplied with the vehicle. The new MkIII version seems that you can update by downloading from Skoda to a SD card then updating in the vehicle but not sure about the MkII. I know there are a lot of articles on Briskoda about mapping updates but could not find anything specific to my question most of the posts seem to relate to how you do the update. Grateful of any assistance.
  10. Mine have started playing up this morning on the rear offside. Come on as soon as I turn the ignition on. Noticed the light adjacent to the gear shift also is illuminated which is not normal. Usually this is off until you select it. Was wet yesterday but nothing special. Will give it a day or two then contact the dealer.
  11. I think this is merely Skoda and other manufacturers covering themselves because although Skoda may have supplied the spare wheel and tyre they have no control over what the other wheels on the car are. They may have been changed by the owner e.g. to winter tyres like me. Seems to me, if you have a 205/55 R16 94V rated spare on a steel rim then if you have the identical tyre on alloy rims on the car, switching it over will make no difference to ride, feel or speed you can drive at. Of course if you have winter tyres on, get a puncture and put the spare on, which is not a winter tyre, then any benefit of winter tyres will be impacted to some degree. If you check the rolling dia. of a 225/40 R18 92Y fitted as standard on a Superb with a 205/55 R16 94V it is negligible therefore there is an argument that says you can put the spare on with no or minimal impact but as I said, the 50mph limit sticker is probably backside covering by Skoda and others.
  12. Danny / Darwin, Thanks for your advice and that was the problem. I feel such a prat. Have never used the ventilation on the front seats since I got the vehicle so never gave that a thought. Saved me the time and effort taking it to the Skoda dealer, who incidentally when I described the problem did not have a clue what it was or could be and simply said they wanted me to take the vehicle in. Makes you think. Likely they would have charged £200 under warranty to Skoda. Ian
  13. Had my WT's fitted 10 days ago and yes I know the temperature was not 7 degrees or below but there are times in the middle of winter when it rises above 7 degrees so... Anyway, I had Nokian tyres fitted onto new alloys and so far I have to say no noticeable difference but the ride does feel a little softer and when you ride a pot hole it is not as harsh with the 16" as it is with the 18" and I find that I am less concerned about pot holes as long as they are not 6" deep... The real test will come when there is ice and snow on the roads I guess.
  14. I have a new Skoda Superb Estate (July 14) and suddenly 3 days ago when I pressed the KESSY button to turn on the systems, there is a sound like a fan running inside the car and cold air is being blown. Even if you turn off the Climatronic and have no fan running on the controls the fan still is running anybody know why this is. It only happened after I had cleaned the car and wonder if I accidentally pressed a button internally.
  15. Reading all these posts and replies it seems that on the Skoda (mine is a new Superb Estate 2014 model) they do not use Tyre Pressure Monitoring Valves ? can anyone confirm this please. I am looking to change to winter types and new alloys and I am getting conflicting views from wheel suppliers. One says TPMV's are required another say's not. These things cost £160-320 for 4 wheels.
