not worth it. its a fault that develops as did mine. just replace with new unit if your keeping the vechile. as I did with Sony 3200 series unit or a Chinese one I know it's spending money but best long term

thanks for replies car will be 8 years old in Feb. 34.000 miles from New. I assume that if the batt won't charge. it won't sound alarm or beep when locking the vehicle. I'll know it then needs replacement. no point in buying 2nd hand off ebay as I see those adverts don't seem to indicate age of them.

I had one of these it was a 2.00 with 6 speed box the tank is in rear boot .take spare wheel out and the fillers are on floor up to back I think skoda dealers have a special kit to refill it's not adblue it's something else .

If it's a ea189 engine with the fix .get it rolled back to pre fix settings .then use archoil .and change engine oil/ filter and enjoy your new car again
