  1. Thanks, Adam; that's just the kind of response I was hoping for. It sounds like aftermarket could be the way to go; I'll get researching. The car does have an added Bluetooth...contraption. It looks like an old car phone (complete with corded handset) but can apparently be used hands free via Bluetooth from a mobile. I'm just not sure if it's compatible with my phone (phone is Galaxy Note 3 and Bluetooth thing is Nokia 616). This is the sat nav unit I currently have in the car
  2. Hi all I bought my 55 plate L & K estate last week and I love it. It has Sat Nav built in but the system looks incredibly dated; no postcode search that I can see, pixelated screen and top - down map view only. I'm just wondering if there is a simple switch to a more up to date system, with bluetooth too? If so, what am I looking for and is it an easy DIY job to fit? Thanks in advance :-)
  3. I take mine to a groomer for nail clipping (because I hate doing it and the dogs hate it too; I'd rather leave it to someone who knows what they're doing) and anal gland emptying (because one of my dogs is prone to blockages and it's much easier and cheaper to take to a groomer rather than a vet). It's £5 per dog for a nail clip or anal gland empty. They are whippets so never need brushing; I stroke down with a rubber mitt removes any loose hair if they are moulting. If they get stinky I bathe them at home but try not to do it often. I would love the option to stay somewhere with my dogs where they could be cared for if I wanted to go somewhere not dog friendly for the day. However I am very picky about dog care; mine go to a home boarder if I holiday without them and would be extremely unhappy in a kennel environment.
  4. I tried various lengths of time, with ignition and engine on and off, and couldn't get any of the buttons to make a noise. I followed the instructions in the manual so I suspect there's a problem.
  5. Thank you; I will investigate the connections tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a cheap part if faulty!
  6. Hi, I picked up my 55 plate Octavia L & K last week and I'm not sure the driver's seat memory buttons are working. The electric seat adjusts fine, but nothing seems to happen when I press "set" then one of the numbered buttons to try to save my settings. Also nothing seems to happen if I press one of the numbered buttons to retrieve any stored settings. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help Gemma
  7. That's great; thank you. I'll be sure to share any decent pics here if I get any! Do you think I'll be better off with continuous focus or just single point? I assume continuous but I've never had great success with it.
  8. He is lovely! My guess would be GSD x staffy.
  9. Thanks I've collected the car and I already love it
  10. Wow thanks! Great advice. What shutter speed would you suggest for starters when panning?
  11. Hello, I'm new here In a couple of months my other half will be doing a (bike) track day at Donnington Park and I'm signed up to take photos. My photography up to now tends to be largely dogs, landscapes and candid portraits. I have a bit of experience shooting dogs on the move (I have two whippets) but none with vehicles or anything else travelling at those kind of speeds! Does anyone have any tips or experiences they'd like to share? I'll take my Nikon D7000 with Sigma 70-200 f/2.8; I may also take my second body (D5100) with Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 in case I want a bit of extra reach. I find that lens a bit naff but figured it'd be better to take it than not. I've also got a monopod to save my wrists with the 70-200. Other than that I'm going in a bit blind really! Thanks in advance for any replies. Gemma
  12. Hi everyone. I currently drive an 08 Qashqai but, as of later today, will soon be the proud owner of an 05 Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI Laurin & Klement. It looks to be a great car and I can't wait to get my paws on it! I'm currently looking into options for dog guards and boot dividers. As far as I can tell there are only two options for dividers: Travall and Guardsman. I'm thinking of going for Guardsman because they are a bit cheaper and their dog guard can be used with the boot cover, whereas Travall tell me theirs cannot. Any advice most appreciated! I'm also looking for a full boot liner, partly to try to prevent anything like this happening again! Whippet + Qashqai = carnage :S I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions once I've collected the car; I look forward to chatting with you all
