  1. Hello, can anyone offer some advise. My bonnet release mechanism is sticking as per the photo: I'm having to degrease the mechanism every few days, just to ensure bonnet opens. How can I get the mechanism off and does anyone know the part number. Thanks in advance
  2. Hello all, I need to clean out the bonnet lock assembly, as its occasionally sticks and bonnet wont pop up. I've cleaned and greased it before in situ, but me thinks it needs a thorough clean. Is it straight forward to remove ?? Thanks in advance.
  3. I have a 2016 1.4TSI purchased in 2021, had the Cam Belt changed at 5 years, with only 40K on clock, as per service routine, car is now on 104k miles. As per nbamwel, I too contacted Skoda Support and this was was there response: "I can confirm that timing belts are considered 'wear-and-tear' components and are not covered by warranty outside of the initial three-year/60,000-mile warranty. Consequently, there is no 'Lifetime Guarantee' for timing belts. However, due to the improved reliability and extended change intervals of timing belts, Škoda is shifting away from the recommendation to replace the timing belt every five years. Instead, we are transitioning to time/distance intervals, where applicable. For some vehicle variants, this may mean there is no specific service interval for the timing belt, as they are designed to last significantly longer, often up to 15 years or 180,000 miles" So its 15 years or 180k, what do the experts on the forum think about the new intervals also, are there any signs when your belt needs replacing. Thanks in advance.
  4. Not sure what your dealers talking about, I have a 1.4 TSI petrol and was told timing belt needs replacing at either 5 years or 100k. 2016 plate, cambelt changed after 5 years.
  5. Success. All working now. Can I thank you all. Birmingham looks lovely.
  6. So, can I retain existing maps on SD card and just install “DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12_TMC_Update_V2.7z” to existing SD Card ??
  7. I'm still a little confused, as I thought the TMC signal was turned off, so how does older maps work or have I go this wrong ??? Is this the correct procedure to get TMC active again, as I dont possess VCSD/OBD11. I have a Octavia 2016, I thinks its a Amundsen (MIB2), SD reader in glovebox I've attached a photo of build details. So am I correct in the following process: 1) Format SD card 2) Unzip "Unmodifed V12 map download DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12.7z" to SD card 3) Unzip "DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12_TMC_Update.7z" to SD card and let it overwrite existing files Thanks in advance.
  8. 1.4 TSI 2016 Hatchback Sport 100,000 miles Cambelt at 5 years and waterpump changed 6 speed manual Front Shocks, replaced with Monroes

  10. Hello, just managed to repair righthand roller with can of airduster and straw. With ignition off, press down righthand roller, spray airduster with straw attached through the gap inbetween roller and its housing pointing straw to the left, couple of squirts and jobs a good en. Worked for me..
  11. Hello, I have the same problem with the right hand roller, very hit and miss, Can you access the Opto Coupler without removing the air bag/horn assembly ??
  12. Has anybody successfully replaced standard driver side wing mirror with asperical mirror on Octavia Mk3. My previous Octavia Mk2 had aspherical, but Mk3 doesn't. Can anyone supply a link of where to get the mirror and fitting instructions. Thanks in advance
  13. I have a identical issue with my Octavia 1.4 TSI 11 plate. I fitted Brembo front pads last year June 2020, with existing disc. After about 2k miles I started to get juddering on brake pedal, So I got Brembo disc fitted and the juddering went. But after 3k miles the juddering is back. When I hit the brakes hard, theres no judder and it stops dead. Judder is very noticeable at high speeds. Theres very little steering wheel shake but the car shakes in sync with the pedal. I'm going to remove the front pads/discs clean everything. Never had judder before, just happened after fitting Brembo brake products.
