  1. I have a 2016 1.4TSI purchased in 2021, had the Cam Belt changed at 5 years, with only 40K on clock, as per service routine, car is now on 104k miles. As per nbamwel, I too contacted Skoda Support and this was was there response: "I can confirm that timing belts are considered 'wear-and-tear' components and are not covered by warranty outside of the initial three-year/60,000-mile warranty. Consequently, there is no 'Lifetime Guarantee' for timing belts. However, due to the improved reliability and extended change intervals of timing belts, Škoda is shifting away from the recommendation to replace the timing belt every five years. Instead, we are transitioning to time/distance intervals, where applicable. For some vehicle variants, this may mean there is no specific service interval for the timing belt, as they are designed to last significantly longer, often up to 15 years or 180,000 miles" So its 15 years or 180k, what do the experts on the forum think about the new intervals also, are there any signs when your belt needs replacing. Thanks in advance.
  2. Not sure what your dealers talking about, I have a 1.4 TSI petrol and was told timing belt needs replacing at either 5 years or 100k. 2016 plate, cambelt changed after 5 years.
  3. Success. All working now. Can I thank you all. Birmingham looks lovely.
  4. So, can I retain existing maps on SD card and just install “DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12_TMC_Update_V2.7z” to existing SD Card ??
  5. I'm still a little confused, as I thought the TMC signal was turned off, so how does older maps work or have I go this wrong ??? Is this the correct procedure to get TMC active again, as I dont possess VCSD/OBD11. I have a Octavia 2016, I thinks its a Amundsen (MIB2), SD reader in glovebox I've attached a photo of build details. So am I correct in the following process: 1) Format SD card 2) Unzip "Unmodifed V12 map download DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12.7z" to SD card 3) Unzip "DiscoverMedia2_EU_AS_1430_V12_TMC_Update.7z" to SD card and let it overwrite existing files Thanks in advance.
  6. 1.4 TSI 2016 Hatchback Sport 100,000 miles Cambelt at 5 years and waterpump changed 6 speed manual Front Shocks, replaced with Monroes
  7. Well. my fix didn't last. Did anyone managed to get this right hand roller issue fixed ???
  8. Hello, just managed to repair righthand roller with can of airduster and straw. With ignition off, press down righthand roller, spray airduster with straw attached through the gap inbetween roller and its housing pointing straw to the left, couple of squirts and jobs a good en. Worked for me..
  9. Hello, I have the same problem with the right hand roller, very hit and miss, Can you access the Opto Coupler without removing the air bag/horn assembly ??
  10. Has anybody successfully replaced standard driver side wing mirror with asperical mirror on Octavia Mk3. My previous Octavia Mk2 had aspherical, but Mk3 doesn't. Can anyone supply a link of where to get the mirror and fitting instructions. Thanks in advance
  11. I have a identical issue with my Octavia 1.4 TSI 11 plate. I fitted Brembo front pads last year June 2020, with existing disc. After about 2k miles I started to get juddering on brake pedal, So I got Brembo disc fitted and the juddering went. But after 3k miles the juddering is back. When I hit the brakes hard, theres no judder and it stops dead. Judder is very noticeable at high speeds. Theres very little steering wheel shake but the car shakes in sync with the pedal. I'm going to remove the front pads/discs clean everything. Never had judder before, just happened after fitting Brembo brake products.
  12. Can anyone recommend a good garage in the Dudley/Kingswinford area for routine service and repairs. Preferably, one that opens on Saturday. Thanks in advance...
  13. My coolant pipe going to the turbo, has started to leak. But from this and other forums, looks like the parts I need are WHT003366. But I'm confused, is this a metal washer or an O ring ??? I've rang the dealers with the part number and they quoted £7 each. But can someone confirm the dimensions, I have 10mm int, 2.5mm thickness for a Viton O ring, this item is far cheaper than dealers.. Also, can you offer guidance on how to replace, but looks fairly straight forward. Thanks in advance
  14. I've got a Octavia Mk2 1.4TSI, 11 plate, 80k. There's some peculiar rattling noise around the chain cam / water pump area. and I need it to be investigated, but dealers what to charge £90 ish for diagsnostics. Me thinks that's a little extortionate. Need some one with plenty of Octavia experience. Might not be anything to worry about, but just want to be sure. Thanks in advance..
  15. Thankyou, for you responses. Wheres the best/safety place for the stands and hydraulic jack on the rear and whats the torque setting for the "one bolt at the bottom", or is it a "tight as you can job" ??
  16. Just discovered my OSR coil spring has snapped, but dealer wants £240 for placing both. Just wondered if its straight forward to replace, any special tools required. I can get the springs from EuroCar Parts for around £100 for two, dealer quoted almost £180 for two. Thanks in advance.
  17. Hello can anyone enlighten me, my car was booked in for a routine service (major). Skoda dealership recommended a Petrol Max treatment, which is a full fuel system clean as the cars now 5 years old and 43k. I asked if they just put some cleaner in the tank, they said no, its a complete fuel system clean from fuel tank though to engine..I had it done and the car is smoother but what is it, is it like Terraclean ?????
  18. I'm a newbie on this forum. But I went from a VX Vectra 2.0DTi 2003 with 161k. I went through 3x Dual Mass Flywheels in 5 years. The cost of running the VX was getting silly. I was determined to get a petrol engine, NO DMF or DPF, even though I do lots of miles. I did some research and got myself a 1.4 TSi, 2011 Elegance..Its a cracking motor, really smooth and it gives me an average of 45 mpg, my old Vectra was giving me 47mpg. Also its chain driven, so there's no cam belt to change..Happy Days...
  19. Does anyone know if you can get a Haynes book for 2011 1.4 TSI petrol, as I cant find anything.. Thanks
  20. Thanks for that. Mines a CAXA, so fingers crossed all is good..
  21. I've just got myself a Octavia 1.4 FSI and I understand its Chain Cam (one of the reasons for buying petrol). Is this correct, also is there any issue regards the chain stretching ???? Thanks in advance.
  22. After doing a whole load of research on cars, decided to get a Skoda Octavia 1.4, after many years driving my old 2.0 DTi Vectra (dont laugh). Old car was 11 years old and 161k mileage, but now was starting to cost serious bucks and had to go. The Octavia is a lovely car, solid build and it appears to be doing the same mileage as my old diesel. I chose a petrol, as I got stung with DMF on the old car. Any how, no worries about DMF or DPF with the petrol...
