  1. as above I know it could be various things but was wondering if anyone has had the same issue? the rac guy came out, fiddled with the wiring under the passenger seat, cleared the code and it has come back on more or less straight away garage nearby charging me £25 for diagnostics then £70 to sort if wires need stripping etc good price? not gone with em yet 60 plate fabia 2
  2. Is there an update to any of the claims here please? Having the same issue with my fabia 1.2 tsi dsg7 But the bad thing is I'm the 4th owner, only done 30k miles
  3. Thanks guys! Will check ebay and scrappers for the cable and then hopefully get someone to fix it, £120 did seem a bit steep hope it's an easy job Cheers
  4. Gave my car in for a recall with the DSG box. They did a spot check thing and came up with the following: Offside brake cable insecure Offside and nearside brake cable casing damaged. Is it a serious issue? They're quoting me something like £120 to fix, where could I get it fixed cheaper? Cheers in advance
  5. Lol, have sent them an email asking if I can connect 2 phones at the same time. See what they say I doubt I'll get one though judging by the XDA forum. Quite a few people having issues judging by the last few pages. I need it to be a solid bluetooth phone unit the most and an entertainment unit the least. Don't listen to radio and have one or two tracks on repeat all the time. I do like tech though so would enjoy phone mirroring etc Will keep an eye out for one of your threads on how well it does if you make one
  6. Massive thread on XDA forums about them too I think Had a look on there and they've managed to get the Appradio Pioneer head units to mirror Android devices, would be pretty cool that Gonna carry on looking and make an informed decision hopefully
  7. Love android but would only really buy something that's got a decent spec and can be updated fairly regularly And if the bluetooth functionality was solid Might look into it
  8. The thing is I have no parking sensors and no maxidot display so it looks as though my best option is to replace the rcd510 with an aftermarket unit
  9. Not sure if its second hand I bought the car a few weeks ago with it already fitted and remember the guy telling me they fitted it in after they bought it initially I've been to the dealer and I'm sure they quoted me a tenner to get the code but did mention that it may not work which is why I've asked here if the code will arrive? If not I've seen someone on eBay do it for £15 Not sure if I should just pay £170 for a bluetooth add on or take it out, sell it and replace with a good double din stereo
  10. As above Bought a Skoda Fabia with an RCD 510 that's been fitted in after purchase and didn't get a security code for it so was wondering if I was to pay Skoda a tenner to retrieve the code will it be successful? Thanks in advance
  11. As above guys, currently got a RCD 510 inside and was wondering if any double din stereo would fit inside without having to buy another surround etc? Cheers
  12. As above, taking my car in in a few hours for a DSG recall and was wondering if I should ask them to do this at the same time. The air con does stink for a min or so at first but it soon goes away Cheers
  13. Thanks for the replies guys Good to hear theres not much going wrong with them Had the car for about 2-3 weeks and not had any issues so far apart from a rattling sound on the drivers side rear which doesn't sound too bad but will get it checked out when I take it to Skoda for the oil change Will also have a look at the air filter Want to get it remapped but not sure if its worth the extra £350 inc insurance increase lol
  14. Seller did mention he serviced it at 27k, checked the oil level and it's pretty high so I'm assuming he's not lying about that! Is there any other (easy) way to check if it has had a recent service? Cheers
  15. Lol guys it's cool I'm not that fussed re mileage, car was still cheap if it had done 50-60k (if nothing else goes wrong!) plus apparently its very common nowadays even with cars that have a full history etc. Was bought with 29k on the clock All I wanna do now is make sure the car doesn't need major work doing in the future
  16. Yep it's been clocked or something as the mileage on its last 2013 mot matches up with the one from the service in 2012 which I discovered when phoning Skoda asking if they have any previous history for it. I didn't receive the service book from the seller probably due to him clocking it back or whatever. Bought privately. 60 plate. Thanks for the replies though, will take it to a local garage and ask them to have a look
  17. Cheers, have given them a call and booked it in for Tuesday. They said it had some turbo work done in Dec 2012 but that's all they had on their system Are there no belts or chains etc that need replacing any time soon? Regards
  18. I know I know it was a risk worth taking in my opinion as the car was cheap I'm assuming the car has done around 50k miles maybe even 60k No history in regards to repairs at all Is there anything that commonly goes wrong that needs looking at or replacing? Its a DSG auto so I've read that they are quite expensive to fix if anything does go wrong Cheers
  19. Just checked my rcd 510 version number and it is the blaupunkt model 3C8 035 195 if that's of any help
  20. Thanks for the replies will have a little read @mrburdon123 unfortunately I can't seem to PM you as it's disabled. But I have just noticed I don't even have a maxidot display lol. How much are you wanting for the kit? Regards
  21. Hi guys I have bought a Skoda Fabia recently which had a RCD 510 pre-installed and I'm wanting to upgrade the unit so I can connect my phone to it I'm wondering if it as easy as buying a bluetooth module from eBay and then plugging it into the relevant ports behind the head unit and that's it? Or would it need coding etc with VAGCOM or similar? How do I identify which bluetooth module I need as there are a few different ones on eBay with different part numbers? Would the phone feature work OK with phonebook integration etc? I've been quoted £350 to fit the bluetooth module into the car from a local fitter but that seems very expensive if it's just a plug and play job I can take the headunit out to see model numbers etc as I have the tools. It is the headunit without DAB Thanks in advance
