  1. Yes its the second of the two icons. Thanks for your input.
  2. my car is the facelift and it has the maxidot screen, not these screens pictured. The orange icon appears where the time is, then goes. I'll have to try and photograph it when it next happens.
  3. Crawling along the M61 this morning in nose to tail traffic, an orange oil pressure warning light, and "restrict to 4000 revs" warning light and text flashed up. and then an orangle symbol of a rev counter and exclamation mark flashed now and then on my way to the office in Warrington. Checking my handbook, unless my eyes are deceiving me, I cannot find this symbol. Had this car 3 months, its done 57k. Aside from the obvious go to a Skoda workshop, does anyone have any advice? thanks Brian
  4. Can anyone tell me where I can buy, and what size, a replacement knob screw for the skoda octavia dog guard (2010). I think they measure M5 but I'm not sure. Are they star or wheel knobs? thanks Brian
  5. Is there a shiny steel tip for the Oct Scout 2010 1.8 TFSI exhaust? I've looked online, and there's one that fits the 1.9 TDI and 2.0 FSI... no mention of 1.8 TFSI - would this fit?
  6. Hi, has anyone fitted a nextbase hardwire kit to their octavia 2 (estate), and if so, which numbered fuse did you utilise on the interior fuse box? It recommends the 12v adapter fuse, but this adapter socket appears to be permanently on, even when key is removed and car locked so that's a no no. I want it enabled only when the car is running. I want to eliminate all dangly wires and leave the 12v adapter socket available for the sat nav. thanks Brian
  7. The silver buttons appear to be quite powerful magnets. I removed the plastic covering and fished out the silver thing, and slotted it back in to its hole, but still non the wiser as to what it is. It's adjacent to where the rear rear seat belt slides into the housing. Sadly I can't upload the pictures to here.
  8. bump ditto. My mirrors are not clearing in the cold mornings. What fuse to check?
  9. Bluetooth is switched on, they are making themselves visible, the car is seeing them - but they are not "compatible".
  10. I've tried to pair two phones to my 2010 Octavia Scout - and I'm having little success, suggesting they're not compatible. Well they both do Bluetooth! What should my phones have that they obviously don't? I presume its not a set list of phones but some technology? Phones are an old HTC Desire Z and a Samsung Utopia. I am NOT splurging on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 like the previous owner had paired to this car!!

  12. Heko on a 2010 Octavia scout. I also have them on a Fiat Ducato motorhome van. They are great. However I had trouble fitting to the front windows as the tip on the rear of the deflector broke on fitting to both windows. There was also only 2 sticky taped areas, and one was on the area that snapped. I have refitted with double sided tape strips to 4 areas, no problem. Also a small problem with the rears not fitting well due to the tape provided - After fitting and closing windows all night, the following day the windows would bounce back down as they collided with part of the heko. I redid the tapes, refitted, now no problem. Their dark colour looks pretty smart on an anthracite coloured car with tinted rear windows
  13. I've recently acquired a 2010 scout. While pressing and pushing things that look like they do stuff (as you do) I pressed a "silver button" on the boot plastic, near the side window behind the rear seats. It disappeared inside the plastic - I did the same with the other side. er? What are they for and how do you get them back? Doesn't appear to serve any purpose.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Any indication as to what the costs average at?
  15. 55k, and no idea when or if the oil may have been changed but was serviced in May at a Skoda dealership. It's a TSI. I suppose I could get it serviced to give peace of mind.
  16. Picked up a 5 year old skoda octavia scout from a dealership, driving it home yesterday everything is great along twisty minor roads, A roads, motorways. Smooth gears, transmission, quiet as a door mouse. Parked up, did some shopping, then drove home. Arriving at the village where I live, 10-15% gradients on a snaking road for 1/4 mile. When I reached this and changed down to 3rd gear, there was some clunking noise from the transmission. Again at another incline. At the top, the road levelled out, no problem, drive up to my house (minor gradient and change down gears, no problem). Could someone advise if this is simply the 4x4 engaging, or a transmission related problem? thanks
  17. Hi, I'm picking up a 2010 Octavia Scout on Monday (non Skoda dealership) and it has an aerial like this but missing the stubby screw in part - any idea what make / model this aerial is, and where I can get a replacement stubby aerial to screw in? thanks
  18. Hi, I'm thinking about moving up from my trusty old Fabia (04) to an Octavia Scout (11-12). What in forum members opinion is the best engine to go for - nor necessarily power, but reliability. I'm used to a chain drive, not a cambelt. regards Brian
  19. Got myself a replacement temp sensor via ebay "VW" outlet... replaced the sensor... same -45C temperature showing. If no sensor is plugged in, it registers as -.-- Swapped the old and new a few times, still -45. Even had the fog light out to check wiring. Considering the hot weather we've been having, I haven't blown an air dryer over it.
  20. I'd switch to another skoda garage, but this is convenient for me, otherwise its an out of the way trip to another skoda garage. The previous garage (shut down) scratched my car - didn't take the blame, got glue over the mirror switch cover - didn't take the blame (I replaced it myself)... the manager and a technician have moved to the new dealer in Bolton, and are still as useless at reassembling things after they've attacked your car - plastic facias not put back correctly... like they tear them off and break contacts.
  21. so if I replace the outside temp sensor, and seal it as above, then it may be problem solved? However, yesterday the car was registering -45, no engine warning light, yet air con was working...
  22. Hi, after the outside temp sensor in my fabia 04 recording -45 or the past year or so, I thought I'd finally get around to doing something about it, as the local garage won't Also, the engine light frequently comes on,and I think they put it down to a leak of sorts... didn't do anything about it but turned off the warning... only for it to come back a few days later. During the recent hot spell, the air con wasn't working... damn, I thought it was okay - but the engine warning light had been on for a few days (or a week)... got to the point where I just ignore it now. I filled up the car with petrol, switched on, no warning light... I thought I'd give the air con another go... coooollllllldddd air!!! :-) I was happy! So is there a leak in the air con system causing this engine light? and is the outside temp sensor also related to this air con? How do I remove the outdoor temp sensor from its housing? - screwdriver and twist or something?
