  1. Hello, Just a quick passing thought - has anyone retrofitted the smartgate module to a mk2? Had a quick google and found some people had fitted them to the rapid but nothing for the mk2.
  2. Update: Received, fitted and working like a treat! Parking sensors worked fine, lost maxidot audio menu but I never used that anyway, vehicle not fitted with MF wheel so can't report back on that :P Really recommend this, solid unit! Only complaint is Audio quality through CarPlay, though thats an apple issue not the HU. Spotify over bluetooth sounds miles better than on carplay.
  3. Cheers hutchy! It looked straightforward enough. Think I can get away with a cheapo camera too - I think I have one spare from a dashcam that should work! Lucky haha
  4. Hi guys, loooong overdue an update on this. I do still intend to do this but got a million things which need organising first. Sorry to let you down! Will post here again when I have something more solid
  5. Hey, I've picked up a RCD330 from an old friend who is upgrading to a Pioneer HU, I won't get it for a couple of weeks yet, but want to be ready to fit it on receipt. Its one of the 'no brand' units and is loaded with the carplay firmware. My 2011 Fabia mk2 currently has the swing radio. Will I require any adapters etc to get this to work? Will the existing fascia/surround still fit? Also, can anyone recommend a camera for use with this HU? I'm aware it will require some coding in VCDS, i've found instructions on that already. Cheers!
  6. Ah damnit, that's disappointing but good that its meant to be there. Excuse my noob-ery.
  7. Hello! Just to update you guys, this is still going ahead Just waiting for some things to happen on my end and for some slightly better weather. Will probably look to hold this meetup in March time. Can't wait!
  8. Hello all I have had some issues with power steering in the past which had gone away until today, the steering felt much heavier again. I thought I would just quickly check out my PS fluid level before I order a replacement pump from a breaker...When I looked in the engine bay I could see the *end* of a hose just sat waiting for me on top of the PS fluid reservoir cap. I lifted it gently to take a picture. I couldn't tell where it started....Any ideas? Hoping someone will say its PS related in which case presumably it needs reattaching, topping up with fluid and will be back to normal....a man can always dream Just to add, car runs fine except heavy steering, no dash lights, no error codes in VCDS. Really curious about this little fella.
  9. Nice! Thanks guys, will make a note and be in touch soon For reference, mine is a mk2 Fabia - 2011 1.2 TSI (105PS) with the 7spd DSG, running stock.

  11. Awesome! Looks like a nice vRS you're running. Would be great to have you. Once I get some more interest we can get some details hashed out!
  12. Yep haha. Previous owner was an older chap who hardly used it, traded in for a citigo. Totally love it Gonna be posting some photos and stuff of my adventures soon, been busy until lately!

  14. I have a 2011 7-Speed DSG 1.2 TSI 105PS and cannot fault the DSG or the engine one bit. In D, the box is brilliantly smooth, you honestly can barely perceive when it changes. I'm only on 18,000 Miles so cannot attest for long term reliability. I can say it is an absolute pleasure to drive though
  15. Hello all, I hope I'm allowed to ask this on here! I have been asked to produce some content for a motoring blog and would love to take a look at a community like ours and also underappreciated roads we are lucky to have in the UK. I am thinking of a meet and convoy of our pride and joy somewhere either around Quernmore near Lancaster or in the Forest of Bowland - both provide fantastic scenery and are great roads too. Whether its slammed, stanced, as it left the factory or whatever you have done with your skoda, I would love to have the opportunity to share it with the world! Some sequences will also be used in a promotional video for an app I am working on to encourage people into fitness and other activities. If any of you guys are interested please get in touch! Thanks for your time
  16. Can't find the damned thing now. It was from skoda and was an 'amendment' to the handbook. I'll have a look see if I can find anything out online about it...
  17. Sorry to revive an ancient thread but I've noticed a slight difference between 97 and 95 in terms of performance and MPG, only marginal but slightly noticeable - There is also an advisory slip in my owners manual that says to only use 97.
  18. 'ello, thought I'd chip in to this topic. A couple of months back I had a flat battery, a couple of days after having a new battery fitted (not holding good charge, had run flat a couple of times, nothing else at fault), my PAS light came on after pulling out of a spot with full lock on. Engine off and on cleared the light and some assistance returned, enough to get home. Dealership said it was probably the low battery, just keep an eye. I had heavy steering the next month or so but didnt rush in because it was booked in for a service, dealership can remain anon on this one. Had them give it a once over while it was in. They quoted £700~ for a replacement pump £900~ inc. labour - they couldnt give a proper quote as their network was down. Took it home unhappy about the pending bill but wasn't convinced by their diagnosis. I kept wondering about steering angle sensor, fluid level etc. as something just felt off with their diagnosis and I wasn't convinced without ruling things out myself. Plugged her into VCDS and looked at errors on PAS - one logged 'low voltage, function restricted' which I figure will have been from battery-gate. Cleared error. INSTANTLY on starting the engine, full PAS returned, not a problem in over a week now having driven daily. Fingers crossed its all good now. I presume the low voltage error code still being logged had put the PAS in some sort of failsafe mode with limited assistance. Im not au fait with the details, but it makes sense from what i experienced. I hope this information helps someone else avoid a ~£1k bill from a dealer! EDIT: For information, if its any use, here is the log: 1 Fault Found: 13893632 - Function Restricted due to Insufficient Voltage U1400 00 [008] - - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 6 Fault Frequency: 1 Reset counter: 138 Mileage: 28217 km Date: 2060.14.17 Time: 18:54:43 Apart from the obvious details - the date is rather interesting....anyone any insight on their datetime format? The year is bad enough but 14/17? lol
  19. I have the 1.2 and it always starts slightly over 1k, runs for about 30s then dips to about 700-800ish idle. I believe thats normal. As 2ndskoda said, if you touch the accelerator when starting up it does behave slightly differently.
  20. ****Update**** Well I plugged my diagnostic cable into my Surface...saved a log of the error ('low voltage') and cleared it, not had a problem since, power steering back to being fully functional. I don't think the dealer had actually done a diagnosis, just gone for the most expensive part to replace. Going to have a word with Skoda Head office. 2 Dealers have tried it on now, first was a quote for a major service including cambelt replacement for my 1.2TSI which has a chain not a belt as confirmed by dealer #2 who was shocked that dealer #1 would try it on like that. Dealer #2 then quoted £900 for new pump inc. labour. Still...at least the power steering is back :p
  21. True, I'm just concerned they were only having a quick look as part of the service...Will get a second opinion before having any work done just to be safe, don't want to burn a chunk of cash and not resolve the problem!
  22. That's what I've seen elsewhere, thanks just the labour thats left to worry about! Plus I still wonder about the steering angle sensor - is it possible that's misreporting SA and therefore pump not kicking in properly? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/397997-pas-wheeal-still-hard-to-turn-after-replacing-power-steering-pump/
  23. Just got back from a service - asked them to check out the PS pump as it's been getting heavy when pulling away...Dealer quoted £727 just for the part ~£900 inc labour. Can anyone recommend a good independent that can do it for less in the Lancaster area?
  24. Its in at the dealership today for its service, asked them to give it a look. Fingers crossed...
