Nobody knows where/ what tool to use to get the ECU wires in/ out?
-
Ok so fitting a new abs lead from sensor to ecu, is the tool to pick out the fixed wires a general tool, not just skoda/ VW, if so can someone point me in the direction. I went to a Auto electrician and he doesn't want to "just" connect the wires to ECU, but he would do the whole job for £105, lol i swear nobody wants to do a job under £100, mechanics and the like.

I'm losing interest in modern cars....
FromTheDarkness replied to mender's topic in General Automotive Chat
Ye i feel without a Elon Musk / Mark Zuckerberg type investor, for this to be a huge step requires huge investment, the investment is needed to keep production cost low, and services efficient, then there is the infrastructure for making hydrogen available. Its taken over 10 years and huge pressure and finance from the likes of Tesla to start getting electric points, and even now its a long way off what is needed. There was no way a indie crowd funded company could have managed the change in electric, i feel its not possible with hydrogen, without significant backing/ joint venture/ take over. With that backing lets hope the ethos is not compromised. And lets not forget, we dont know what other companies like Tesla are working on behind closed doors. -

Yes sounds a fantastic approach, i do have issues though and have emailed them my concern. I feel that if as they say they aim to make only 5000 cars a year, then they will end up going to the rich investors, and after that collectors with media influences, after that collectors mates etc. So are they producing these cars for the real working class people that actually want a change? -

If any of you havent seen this, maybe worth a look, i will quote a bit - "Above all it is disruptive, turning the traditional business incentive to design cars for obsolescence on its head. In fact, when you sell “mobility” as a service the business incentive is to design cars for longevity, low running costs and sustainability". http://www.riversimple.com/invest-company-driven-differently/ -

i have started to look at prius now :P but the lack of power puts me off 74bhp... how ever the new one has 134bhp but also has all the said additional gimics and gadgetry to break :( -
Drivers door remote locking
FromTheDarkness replied to ferrycraigs's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Hmm i have a issue with the passenger door, it seems a mechanical issue oppose a electrical. It clicks and if trying to unlock but it doesn't, you can get lucky and it might work after 20 of so tries. -

I agree, and im the same... I have mates that are financed up to the eye ball so they can always drive the latest "sports" BMW / VW, and when a repair is needed we dont see them for a month due to the fact they are skint. But i dont understand what the issue is with just finding a decent mk1 octavia or fabia, scout ... no table/ rechargeable torch or rear bed tho lol.. I must admit i have been wanting a newer car, just to try and get something i can rely on for the next 5-7 years, but i also am struggling to better what i have with out all the un necessary electrics that will break, as im convinced new cars are designed to fail, drumming up business. -
Airtec fmic not worth £495
FromTheDarkness replied to Ph1lly87's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I thought the pipe work let the kit down value wise, i chose was a seat sport cooler, and darkside hard pipes. Think it worked out about £100 cheaper, for better pipes, and negligible performance difference as im only about 190bhp. -

rear caliper leaking
FromTheDarkness replied to FromTheDarkness's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
No the rears where basically new. oh yes indeed, I will bleed and press this down next time... thanks for that - Is it a bad sign also that the front drivers side, even when fully loosened only just drips... for example the front took 20mins to half empty the easybleed container, the rears half empty in mins. - does hand brake need to be off? - ive read you can use easybleed, and press the pedal - infact instructions suggest this if your having difficulty normally. Will try this also. -

Brake pedal bites a little low, think it needs another good bleed.
