  1. Anyone have any ideas to the above? The two wires going to the sensor.
  2. Any idea what gauge wire is used? Im not paying £57 for three wires!! I will buy the wire and re wire it all
  3. ive now seen charging available at hospitals
  4. Im on the correct side then :P Well vcds is pointing to a broken circuit, and with there already been a repair job on the wires... no matter how good they look must be the issue, im guessing it has some corrosion that i cant see. I will replace the sensor as its cheap, but not looking forward to the replacement of the abs wire, not really sure where the top end goes.
  5. I read it should be between 15 -16 and it was 15.80 ECU to sensor? you mean abs controller to sensor?
  6. yes and ive checked it all, the repairs are good all soldered together no frays, no looseness... think im going to have to get a new loom :(. No room left to chop again. just in case im a moron, it is left hand side from the drivers perspective? and not facing the car lol?

  8. all connections to the abs controler seem fine, think pin 12 and 28 are the sensor, so i guess just test power at the end of the wire. If thats good its the sensor, would you say?
  9. Not on the sensor side, i want to test the wires to the sensor.
  10. Ye it does, and there are no fault codes showing for power steering, and steering feels fine. Not heavy or anything. I will scan after, first to check fuse 25, then to check abs control unit connections. Then wheel off and multi meter check on the end socket. Anyone know what volt it should be?
  11. Ye i know, but they have. But why? I forgot the save the fault, It was open / closed G47 front left
  12. Strange experience yesterday.,,, Took car for the MOT, passed with no issues. Key in, drove down the road abs & traction & power steering light on... Drove back the garage, the brake fluid cap was not on, asked if they removed it to check the level as the bigger boost pipe does restrict the view, answer = No we havent touched it - First concern these are not trusted. found the cap on the shelf under the reservoir, i put back on said will drive it home and clear the codes, as i didnt really want them touching it with snap on crap diagnostic. Codes clear, they do not instantly come back, but after another scan are back. The dash lights do not remove. Took car back, had the wheel off checking left abs sensor as i took my laptop to show the code on vcds. Now the Wires have been broken in the past, and soldered back and on inspection seem a good job and should not be failing, so that really only leaves the sensor.I use the car everyday, its my commuter. Not as if ive not used it for 6 months and pulled it out of storage for the MOT. So: Would the MOT test the rotation of the wheels more then daily use? How did it pass, as these faults would fail it :P Not to sure what to do going forward with this garage.. On one hand ive picked my car up in a worst condition than when i dropped it off, on the other hand the wires where damaged and repaired before hand. Not to forget the dodgy drama of the brake fluid cap, that they didnt touch :P This Garage passed the car the year before, without issue - Why i used them.
  13. Well maybe they will stick the Golf Rs engine in the next gen Octavia?
  14. Im getting a chug in second, If it was petrol i would say it was spark plugs... Like juddering, kangarooing in second gear low revs, normal service resumes when add some power. Any ideas what it would be... Its not turbo related/ boost leak/ vac leak.
  15. have you still got this? is it in black?
  16. And that includes timing belt and water pump + labour?
  17. Is traction control the same as the VRS? If so does this come on when the slipping starts? Even though you have new tires, if they are budget summer tires they may spin when there is enough torque, but you would see the traction light come on.
  18. Gates kits are quality and have many a good word said about them, some say the "best" not sure about that. I used gates timing kit and aux belt, and water pump.. all is fine and doing what it should.
  19. But its cheaper than a new bumper :P I guess its there for a function... not a statement?
  20. agree with most, but i do think there is a point where its not financially viable, either there comes a point where you dont have the skills, or cash etc For example, i loved my Alfa 145 cloverleaf.. and i spent a lot keeping it going. But one year all things mounted up... it was rotten (what a surprise :p) needs a ton of welding, tyres where needed soon, timing belt also, and the millage was mounting up. As much as i loved it, im not a mechanic, i dont have a garage. And it was time ... these things happen. RIP Alfie
  21. Hmm from what i know, and did myself. Ive blanked off the EGR and removed it. it never caused a issue. Whats happened to the vaccum pipe that used to go to the ERG? There are two that need blanking, not sure if these are left would cause a error code. It seems you have more than one issue here, and i dont think they are related. The black smoke & whistle could be a boost leak, could also be a **** poor remap. The error light, can come on with a bad boost leak, you would know about it, you would see smoke though the rear view mirror all the time and the back of the car would be filthy. All these issue most definitely are not caused by a blanking plate!! And as above stated, you would be better off going to a VAG indie. This platform of cars are common, they have seen it all.
  22. Ye and all second hand ones are in crap condition and need a respray... I just put up with a gap where the bumper and light is lol. I did consider used these jdm style band jobbies.
  23. Yes :( Thats whats up with mine... i changed the runners, and it turns out its the bumper hoop parts, not a cheap fix when adding in paint.
