  1. I hired a rug doctor when I got my car which has a similar grey centre section on the seats. Came up a treat but the sludge that came out made me want to vomit.
  2. I can't believe you don't even know the basics Mike. You used to be my Skoda guru, I have lost a little faith in you now
  3. Just make sure your tyre valves are at the bottom of the wheel when inflating. If they are at the top it only fills the top of the tyre.
  4. footwell lights will be all I have I think Mike but as I said I will be upgrading to an elegance when we can so thinking of the parts I am buying as dual use. We are likely going to go to a dealer for a genuine low mileage elegance when the time comes. Will be nice to know I have all the parts to fit when we get one.
  5. I had to add something to a byte to activate xenons with shutters on my car as it didn't have the relevant bytes. Is it possible a midline 30 byte could have capacity for options but none actually coded into it. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, it does in my head lol.
  6. Just had my car back in and finally got the flywheel sorted, turns out I had a faulty new part fitted. For some reason I now seem to be having another issue. Second gear is a little sticky to engage, happens when cold and when warm. Other gears also seem to need a little bit more force to get in. Is it likely to be selector cables? it is only sticky at the very start of selection, once past the first inch is totally free moving the rest of the way.
  7. I can see midline 30 byte versions, I'm confused as to why they are 30 byte. Not sure I fully understand what the benefits of more bytes are, I thought it was more features.
  8. Cheers Adamal, not sure I want lights on inside the car while driving anyway but I do like the thought of having the option. I really am sad ain't I ? I don't suppose anyone knows whether 3c8 passat cecm's are compatible?
  9. Mine recently started doing the single thump, only when started warm. Sounds like a single missfire on a petrol engine, changed battery and coolant temp sensor without any joy, will change the starter next but not holding my breath on it curing it.
  10. I don't really have a lot in the way of factory equipment everything being retrofitted. I did just however manage to bag a highline ccm. As I have footwell lights on the way and am going to try and retrofit fogs, I now think the only useful module I have that isn't highline is my cecm so wondering is the 30 byte going to be worth the purchase. I am planning on upgrading the car to an elegance at a later date so everything will be coming back out when I do. Cheers
  11. I started off by gently teasing my surround off, had it out so many times now I just grab the bottom and tug on it, everything bar the top thin bar comes off then I just twist it.
  12. I'd say that looks very similar to my key, the buttons are a harder plastic than the genuine item. You need vcds to turn it off and enable single click unlocking. Do you have access to it?
  13. Where abouts are you, plenty of good guys on here could help
  14. We're all codes saved then cleared and rescanned? I've seen a few of them codes for various things like battery disconnected and incorrect coding on my part. Clear them all I'd say and try again. Some of them may be very old. I may be wrong but lots look like bad coding for things that are not present.
  15. Can you post a photo of your keys? If what I am thinking is correct then your octavia s did not come with factory central locking. My 2006 s didn't, I did however fit an aftermarket Chinese kit with pretty convincing looking haa keys. They do not however work double press (exactly the same doors click but no unlock) and won't pop the boot on long press (do unlock it though) I coded out single key press and now they unlock all doors. Also upgraded ccm and have genuine kit to.
  16. Looks smart, good job.wonder if it would look ok on my none vrs
  17. Cheers adamal, I am basing the pal ntsc thing on a single post from here. May not be factual.
  18. A few questions: Is the FL octavia the same handle as the pre fl? Do I need pal or NTSC (think I read somewhere I needed NTSC) If I fit the rear view camera can I still add OPS parking sensors later (columbus)?
  19. Definately worth a thread to help find out I think.
  20. Maybe a poll thread with bcm part numbers would help get to the bottom of it. I don't think Mike was suggesting all fl are going to pop bcm's just that there is an increased risk making fitting and coding on his part too risky.I fully understand his thinking. People are all gung ho before fitting willing to accept the risks right until it goes tits up then the fitter gets the blame. Mike knows his stuff so I'd be wary if I wasn't fully prepared to change the bcm and possibly more. Not all smokers get cancer but you would struggle to find a doctor that recommends taking it up.
  21. I was thinking similar but more of a "good plan" I need to teach the missus to drive.
