  1. Had some bad news about my mum and been trying to sort out her seeing as much of the kids as possible. Am thinking of selling the Octavia and moving to something smaller and newer. Looking for some advice on pricing mine. It's an 06 1.9tdi 170k loads of work done as my history on here will show. Almost full service history and receipts for everything. New Dmf and clutch 3k miles ago (sachs) New turbo 18 months ago (genuine) New egr last 3k miles ago (genuine) New battery 3k ago year New cam belt kit Inc waterpump (complete gates) 3k ago Loads of other bits changed for peace of mind. Had 2 services in the time I've had it using decent stuff from Opie oils. Have a few grand worth of receipts alone for the above and things like temp sensor, heater resistor, wipers and all the little annoying bits basically. Loads of upgrades Rns 510 Bluetooth Maxidots with highline convenience module Mfsw Cruise control Auto headlights Tyre pressure monitoring Xenon and leds inside and out All 2015 badges and chrome door escutcheons / kick plates AUDI Anthracite 17" alloys with Skoda centre caps Jumbo box 4 keys (3 remote 1 x blade type) Pop out type blinds for rear windows Genuine roof bars Boot release reversing camera (not wired yet, Mums news put things on hold) Also have parts to go on like footwell lighting, all old parts from upgrades still here plus loads more. Loads of other things I will have forgotten like glasses holder etc. I think the only module I didn't change was the central electrics. Car has had everything it could need and more and has served me without incident. I am paranoid and change everything when I buy a car.
  2. Looking good for a cheap graphics card for a mac pro. Not sure if the machine even works so don't want to spend too much. Cheers

  4. Yes its here but the connector is different, having my lounge plastered at the moment so a bit up the wall. I think I may be better just getting the rgb converter box, there is one in china for £37
  5. Ok the anti roll bar bushes look quite dry, I'll change them I think thanks. The rear springs are all fine and shocks seem ok on a bounce test. I think i may be on original suspension though so guess it's due a complete overhaul really.
  6. Been away and doing lots of back Road driving on bumpy and pothole ridden roads. On the way back I noticed the car felt a little bouncy and just generally not itself. Getting into the car this morning I noticed that when cornering on right hand bends the car steps out mid bend. Very hard to describe but basically halfway around the bend it feels like the car suddenly jumps a few inches in the direction of lean. I thought my wheel was loose or something but no. Tyre pressures and treads are fine, can't see anything obvious. Where should I start looking?
  7. I always use a single strand of wire from ordinary household flex. It has just enough rigidity to push through your average blockage. Or a single bristle off a wire brush.
  8. No my original aerial base is now inside the dummy one, Inside the oem base is a small copper contact which touches the underside of the original antenna, I cleaned the corrosion off it and soldered a repair wire onto it which is now coiled inside the dummy antenna section. The dummy antenna has a removable base, i drilled it to the shape of the bolt from the original base and passed it through, the dummy base was then screwed back together with the original ariel bolt protruding and the whole thing was bolted back onto the car. The dummy has a 3m double sided pad which covered the whole area and a rubber seal that surrounds it. The 3m pad creates a nice watertight gasket and the rubber outer seal is a secondary barrier.
  9. Bought myself a cheap sharkfin type fake Ariel cover as my standard Ariel looked naff and the rubber was rotted. Stripped my old Ariel base and connected a repair wire with a long coil into the antenna section of the fake base. Reception seems unaffected but was never that good anyway. Still gets a solid lock on major stations. Total cost £1.44 from Ali express
  10. You will need the complete armrest including plastic centre console, rear vents, ashtray and heating pipes from the front of the car to the rear vents to do the job properly. You would be better off doing what I did, find a breakers with the armrest in and take everything including the mounting nuts.
  11. I put mine under my rear high Level brake light but made a mess of it, some bits didn't peel off so its wonky
  12. Search Ali express for: OEM 1Z0 941 431K Head Lamp Switch for Skoda. I use the app on my phone and can't find a way to copy the link. I used the car last night for the first time in the evening. Interesting to see that it has a few stages, side lights only as it starts to get dark, then switches to dipped beam as gets darker. Then ignition off around 30 seconds of coming home side lights.
  13. With airbag and airbag loom. Only had it on my Octavia 2 a few days but just spotted something rather more expensive I like the look of.all the buttons work other than the left bottom circle thing which is likely just a vcds tweak.£70 the lot. If you know a courier willing to carry an airbag (at your own risk) and can organise the courier happy to wrap and print a label.
  14. You can have the wheel and airbag for £70 if you want it have spotted another that may work better for my plans lol
  15. Still waiting for the tiguan cable from China, will post as soon as it arrives.
  16. Quick update, got an Octavia specific auto headlamp switch from Ali express for £9. Used it with the auto headlamp loom. Lights up green and function with the loom is perfect. Fitment is tidier too.
  17. Airbag is on, think I will carbon wrap the seat badge. Feels so much better than the Octavia wheel as it's so much chunkier. All buttons work as expected other than the left infinite circle thing which I have no idea of the function.
  18. It's not running like that Mike lol, I have the seat bag on the way
  19. The airbags for the mk5 golf and seat wheels are over £100 used, the mk5 golf seems to use the same airbag as Skoda with just a different cover. I have 2 Skoda airbags and no mk5 golf ones
  20. Got my steering wheel yesterday and did a brief test fit using my spare airbag from the 4 spoke wheel. The good news is aligning lugs fit perfectly leaving me to believe that either a mk5 golf or seat airbag cover will fit the Skoda airbag. Done a lot of research on it lately and it seems the packing and locking lugs of the mk5 golf airbag cover are most likely to fit. The mk5 cover is £23 so cheap enough if it doesn't work. I kind of wish there was a way to keep the Skoda airbag cover , I may look into getting carbon filler sections made (open to suggestions) or even fibreglass some myself and put carbon 3m stuff on. I Like the way the airbag stands a little proud. Test fit photos so far.
  21. Not much of an audiophile but want to be able to fade my speakers to the rear for the kids so have decided to fit rear door speakers. I have a pair of Bose door speakers from an rs4, what else would I need to get factory function with them other than wiring? Would the Bose be better quality than the Skoda and if so are they better in the front or rear?
  22. Unfortunatley I think mot stations now check for the lamps on ignition so blocking it off is not an option.
  23. There are many members on here who could help you out, much cheaper to get a columbus on ebay then pay someone on here,
  24. I recently changed a crash sensor in my mates B5 passat and had to take the seat out. It had a different fitting than my car with a central securing nut.
