  1. I haven't recieved it. Is there any way to test the pump while off the car? I suspect it needs angle sensor inputs before it switches on? Or perhaps a switched live on one of the wires? Possibly the black with yellow stripe on the comm connector? and
  2. Ok, so it looks like the pump and the ECU are one and the same. I've removed the pump from the car. It would appear that the plastic insulation for it has cracked, let water in and knackered the electrics. I must say that it's a terrible place to put something like this. Damn you skoda!! Im not expecting this to be fixable, I'll try drying it out but I'm not expecting miracles. How much for a new pump? Just seen that lummox has already said (probably loads of times too) that the ecu is part of the pump. I'm such a tool.
  3. I've already had vag-com on it and the no communications fault code is the one I get! The Steering with no PAS is awful. Plus mine is a diesel and an estate so it's loads heavier than the 1.4 petrol hatch. The big problem is it's impossible to turn the steering wheel quickly, so you have to slow right down when going around tight turns. Thanks for the advice about the arch by the way. Should be a bit less complicated to take off!
  4. Topped the fluid up and it's made no difference. Cant get the plugs out of the module so Will have to take the bumper off, tomorrow now as the weather has turned.
  5. What I meant was the fault code clears but immediately comes back. In the past, I have been able to access Address 44. I remember because It came up with a fault code about the horn being intermittant. Which cleared and then didn't come back.
  6. Right I just checked the Power Steering fluid and the level is on minimum. If the power steering motor is buggered, would this mean that the power connection to the ECU becomes severed?
  7. Found your thread saying the other fuse is on top of the battery. Had a look at it, cleaned the contacts and the fault still remains. :( I will have to check continuity of the wires now, otherwise it's new ECU. :(
  8. I replaced the battery around christmas time because after five and a half years and 93000 miles, the original one had had it. But Ive done about 2000 miles since then without a hitch. I've just ordered a fabia haynes (been meaning to for a while) To see if I can find where this other fuse is.
  9. Yeah Address 44 will work but not until the control module is communicating with the central electrics. I've got the same problem and the fault code won't clear. I've checked the wiring today and can't find fault. So I reckon either the ECU is buggered or a fuse has blown. (or both!)
  10. You've still not sorted it? It's lucky I was using my polo until today. No power steering on that so I'm used to heavy steering. Even so, this thing is in a league of it's own!
  11. I'm suffering from a similar problem: Mine has suddenly stopped working, without warning today. No intermittant fault, just no power steering from startup. Tried re-starting etc to no avail. Has been fine until now. Vag Com says no communication to the module, same as the first post in this thread. Tried a new fuse (fuse 7 based on the diagram on Fabia-vrs.com - Fuse Panel Layout but the fuse was fine) But you say there are two fuses? Where might the other one be? Just had a look behind the grille to see if I can access the ECU but the horn is in the way. It will have to wait till tomorrow before I can have another look. Damn the steering is heavy with no PAS!
  12. im guessing the 16s are alot heavier? what profile tyres did you use?
  13. Update. Well, the new battery hasn't cured the flickering headlights, but then I never expected it to. Just for reference a couple of weeks ago I checked the battery voltage with the engine running and it was 14.2V at idle so no problems there either. I only really replaced the battery because the old one was going flat in just a couple of days. So if there is nothing wrong with your current battery I say leave it be.
  14. Costco seem to have stopped selling car batteries?! They were by far the cheapest supplier of them too. :( I ended up getting one from GSF in the end, which cost me
  15. Cheers mate, I will give it a thorough once over again.
  16. Mine takes a firm push to stay closed. Might not be able to press it hard enough when it's not attached to anything.
  17. I too have an estate and I'm looking at replacing the (currently knackered) original front ARB with a VRS one. I'm wondering if you need to use VRS droplinks as well though? I've got the Jabba rear arb and it's great!
  18. WIPERBLADES.CO.UK : The UK's Premier Online Store You can get retro fit bosch ones from here for about
  19. I agree, and I found no faults on mine apart from my battery is on it's way out. I'm off to costco tomorrow to get a nice new bosch silver for it.
  20. how long is the anti corrosion warranty on these things?
  21. Just done the rear suspension on mine so far, koni FSDs, eibachs and the jabba arb. Very impressed with the results! I'm waiting for some better weather before tackling the fronts.
  22. My Y reg fabia elegance estate had it, but I took it off because I wasn't particularly fond of it. although I can still see the outline of it looking out from inside the car.
  23. Well, if you have to choose between the 1.2 and 1.4 petrol. I'd go for the 1.4 petrol just based on the numbers. It may not feel as sprightly as the 1.2, but it will be better at over taking and load lugging. which is what really matters at the end of the day.
