MiB 2 coloumbus infotainment system frozen, buttons and touchscreen don’t work
If it’s locked up, press and hold the power button until it reboots. Can be a sign of your battery dying.

Part no. query
Found another number on the moulding - 5G0 857 516 - but can’t find associated with that number. Went to the main dealer… they said it’s not on their database and the only thing they can suggest is replacing the visor - for £240! I will get one from a breaker. Jokers.

Part no. query
The only ‘code’ I could see on the moulding was 815 451 which doesn’t come up with anything when I search. I fear it’s a component of the whole visor which does have a part number. Maybe I need to talk to the main dealer.

Part no. query
Hi, I had stupidly put my driving licence behind the vanity mirror shutter, where it promptly disappeared into the sun visor like a bad conjuring trick. I have retrieved it but unfortunately destroyed the mirror bezel trying to prize it off. Is there a part number for this piece of trim?

Handbrake button came off
This happened to me and worse, the plastic clip (underneath the black plastic rod) snapped off, so I decided on a different approach. Bought 16mm M2 csk stainless machine screws (though 10mm would be plenty). I drilled and countersunk the silver button (2.5mm drill plus countersink bit). I also bought M2 nut inserts - these were harder to find and I eventually tracked some down on Ali Express. I then drilled the black plastic rod (3.2mm drill or 3mm drill if you wiggle it a bit). You can still apply the handbrake by lifting the handle and pulling out the rod at the same time. This holds it still, so it's easier to drill. Apply the nut insert underneath the rod (this is fiddly and you may loose one or two before you can squeeze it home with some pliers) Then apply the spring and the button and carefully screw the csk screw. You may need a tiny hex screwdriver too. The button - with M2 screw: The rod, with nut insert fitted: The re-assembled hand-brake: The nut inserts:

Rear shades
I hope I’m allowed to do this (since it’s a giveaway rather than selling) but does anyone want rear window shades for a hatchback. A little sun-faded but otherwise fine. Oxford.

Skoda MK3 interior light
This was extremely helpful, thanks. It’s exactly the same on mine. In fact it’s clearly got so hot the solder joint (on the reverse side) has gone bad so I’ll have to clean it up with a contact cleaner pen and then re-solder it.

Timing belt change
I haven’t had mine changed and the car is 7 years old but with less than 55k on the clock. Only had a couple of thousand when I bought it in early ‘15 so I’m chancing my arm but I’m not changing it until the Easter at the earliest.

Stuck fuel cap
This happened to me this week. Fortunately there is a detailed guide in the Yeti forum here which also applies to Mk3 Octavias. The part is about £35 and it takes 10 minutes to replace. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/383230-fuel-filler-flap/page/3/?tab=comments#elControls_4644299_menu

Fuel Filler Flap
Many thanks to Weasley. Had been having similar issues with my Octy and was glad to have this guide. Took about 10 minutes. We now seem to be on revision F for the actuator!
