  1. Just because nothing happened, doesn't mean that it couldn't. Unfortunately, there have been a few instances............ Can't take the chance. Anyway, I wouldn't want to fiddle around fixing towbars early in the morning when in a panic to get going, as we are usually running later than intended. We have had a fixed towbar for 17 years and nary a problem - so will stick with what we know. Can't see the benefit of a removable anyway. Must be one though. So, we will have the proper Skoda equipment with all the advantages - decision made with the help of all you great peeps!!
  2. Hmmm......well, it looks as though the quote for the Skoda equipped towbar is not that far out of line. Another £100 for labour doesn't sound excessive for something which sounds mega complicated. Far beyond me, at any rate. I will get a guarantee and if something goes wrong, back it goes to GT Towing. I will just have to bite the bullet and pay the price. The VAT ups the price considerably of course.
  3. Ah, but that was probably a removable tow bar. Don't trust those - anyway, I like a towbar on the back - stops others running into the back of my car when parking and acts as a battering ram for me!!
  4.   :p :p :p
  5. Thanks - will call Darren. Dilemma is that I will be towing a pony and need all the security I can get!!
  6. Thank you so much. That's my thinking also. I was given the option, but as the company rep said, if I intend to keep the car long term, I should go for the more expensive option. Just seems an awful lot of money!!!
  7. Here's the thing. I want a fixed towbar and have two options. The full Skoda electrics which will turn off the reversing sensors when I reverse. £426 inc VAT I rarely tow, so its not going to be an annoying problem if the sensors beep when I reverse. So this option, which is not the full Skoda option, £337 inc VAT What do y'all think?
  8. Nice to hear - hope I can say the same next year. Love mine so far - but only a few weeks in. Enjoy
  9. Panic stations......... Its code 1DO...................However, hopefully GT Towing will be able to deal with it. Thingy, did yours have the towbar prep? i.e. Code 1D7?
  10. . "If your car has "towbar prep" from the factory then there is less work involved in fitting this kit - you should make sure you know if you have this and let the fitter know, because the wiring loom they use will depend on this." Sooooo - how do I find out if the car is towbar prepped from the factory? .
  11. Aha......so there is a coding issue. Amazing what a bit of Yeti education will do. Thanks for the advice. And whatever is a towing loom? How will I know if it isn't a PROPER loom? And how will I know if it isn't the FULL re-coding?
  12. Right oh....... next dilemma. Ah need a towbar. I don't want a removable one - sounds like a recipe for disaster. Anyway, I like having a battering ram at the back. Wish I could have one on the front as well!!! I shall take it up to GT Towing who seem to know what they are doing....... and keep my fingers well-crossed. Don't want it to affect my lovely rear sensors Now, now, no rude comments please!! Anything I should be mentioning to GT Towing? Seems to be something to do with 'coding' whatever that is - read lots of info on here which is incomprehensible! Hopefully, they will be aware of everything necessary.
  13. Just come back meeting with a friend who has a Yeti. She had Just come back from tea with a friend with a Yeti. She had the same message when she bought her car and asked her dealership. They said it was a reminder to use the handbrake. Wonder what you all think of that?
  14. Help again please, you wonderful people!! When I turn off the engine with the key, it says 'Keysafe - see Manual'. I turn it right off and then move the wheel until it clicks locked, like my previous car. I have to assume that this does something far more clever!! Couldn't understand the handbook and anyway, it covers so many options in many cases, its difficult to know which one refers to my car!! Any ideas please? Fun to drive and many people are admiring it. Keeping me on my toes. Haven't tried the cd player yet though. Won't use the cruise control as I don't do many long journeys and not sure its the safest thing if I became a bit sleepy. So pleased I came on here - and it would be a great relief to my local Dealership if they knew - as they are only just down the road from here - and would have been driven mad!! Their salesman won't be pleased to see I have bought this one rhough. It came from near Cambridge - but my local dealership wouldn't offer any decent deals. I really wanted the L&K, but wanted a new car immediately. This one came up and I saved quite a bit. No sat nav and no panoramic roof  But I do have a TomTom and can do without a leaky roof.
  15. Yes, 50 posts a day is enough for moi!! And I certainly won't be trying to catch some of the 'older' gents up Much too busy polishing mah new Yeti :p Thanks for clearing up my posting problem.
  16. "You can make 46 more posts until Today, 19:15. This restriction is in place until 26 July 2015 - 08:49" This comes up on a green background when I reply to a topic. Previously, the restriction was until 10.58 this morning. Not too sure what is going on here.
  17. Thanks - I had a feeling that there's no easy answer. Actually, what I meant by haring down to Brent X was not for fuel, but to do an Italian tune-up. Was wondering if the Shell stuff would prevent me having to clear the filter because I do short journeys - thus avoiding the 'retail therapy' by going to Brent X.......this shopping centre is just the right distance for me to do the 15 mins in lowish gear to burn off the dust. At least, I think I have this right. I will wait until the warning light comes on anyway. I will also have her serviced every 12 months.
  18. Once again....thank you all. I will try again after the stated 10.48 and see if I can post. Another question...... will it help if I use Shell V Power instead of Tesco with 2p off? Don't want to be haring off down the M1 to Brent X too often - always proves expensive for us females
  19. I AM driving it and having fun!! There seems to be some sort of restriction on my making any more posts until 26th July. So, it looks as though I will have to continue without your assistance, which is a great pity as you have all been so helpful!! The rear sensors are great and I love seeing all the bars on the screen as I get closer - very clever. I will be getting a towbar put on soon - do I have to tell the Insurance Company about this? Is this counted as a modification and will put up my Insurance? Questions, questions. If I can't post after 10.48 today, thanks for all your help, but I hope to still be able to read any further comments. To those of you in Herts - look out for the AX HAGG!!!
  20. :peek: Thanks. Nearly had a heart attack today when the fuel indicator showed half full - done 35 miles!! After a short while, I realised that I was looking at the wrong dial Never a dull moment. Been told I can buy some stuff to put in the tank every six months to clean it - but apparently its expensive. Anyone tried it?
  21. Well, I do like driving it. I drive pretty slowly, but its fun to shock the drivers behind when I suddenly 'take off'!!! However, its a bit shocking to find that I am getting 24.5mpg!! Will take it on a run soon and see what it really does. Not used to technology telling me all these things - was more content without!! :p
  22. Hey Weasley - thank you so much. I was fiddling with the little knobs etc. on the steering wheel, wondering what they were for!! Also slight smell of burning when we got home, which I think might be a good sign. Well, it may be diesel, but I don't think it will be boring!!
  23. Well...... my very elderly mother found it easy to get in and out of the Yeti as the passenger seat goes up and down. I need the car to pull a horse trailer and I like automatic. What other option did I have if I wanted a Yeti? My friend has the 1.8 petrol, but its not automatic and I am a little doubtful re the towing capacity of the 1.8. They didn't do the 1.8 in auto anyway. I didn't want diesel - but the other two alternatives which would suit my mother, were very small cars, not suitable for towing. Other cars were too high for her to get in and out of easily. Soooo....... I have a lovely smart, new car (Monte Carlo) - zooms around nicely, but a bit of a nuisance being diesel. Today, for some reason the screen changed showing 91c oil. I thought the car was about to blow up!! Sounds hot hot hot. But when I googled, it seems that's normal for diesel. No idea why the screen suddenly decided to show this!! Good job I didn't get the L&K - even more to go wrong and misunderstand. I had my last car for 17 years - still played cassettes. Never had a problem. But less to go wrong I think.
