  1. Your avatar is the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel le Ferne which is 5 minutes from where I live, his name is Geoffrey
  2. WOW, Your list is well impressive, well out of my league
  3. Peter I used to love my Mk2 Granada 2.8 ghia but I often wonder if it was as good as I remember. I still have a piston from it somewhere with a bit of a self tapper that had welded itself to the top when I dropped it down the air intake . The good old days of having mates with garages and not a vinyl glove in sight I always wanted a 3500 sdi Rover as well as I read somewhere that the 3500 lump was in a low state of tune and could be "sorted" quite easily but it never happened
  4. The 1970 Cortina would have been worth a few bob now as well as the Mk1 Granada (always wanted one). You must have liked that Granada to have kept it so long, how much did you spend on fuel ? :peek: . All in all a nice collection of classics
  5. Apart from the memories of Isopon filler and losing untold tubes of that blue hardener stuff, Some Sunday mornings consisted of a trip to our local breakers yard with wrecked cars stacked 3 or 4 high. Normally the car you wanted something off was on the top (health and safety was not invented then). Because you wanted a "new" radiator as yours was either leaking of so full of crud it overheated there you were climbing up these cars, trying to unbolt this radiator while this stack of cars was swaying and creaking with you hanging on the front, wrestling with corroded jubilee clips, skinning knuckles, dropping tools and screwdrivers never to be seen again,... Can anyone else relate to these days ? The name of the breakers has come to mind now.....The King of Lee in Lewisham London, the site now is a retirement home :|
  6. Were there a few lemons there ? Most of my Fords were, and the VW gti's had marvelous electrical faults like MFD working when they felt like it
  7. Give it a go, you might suprise yourself and rekindle some old memories.........
  8. Had my aircon regassed today. Some might think "so what" but there is no way that I was going to Kwik Fit or somewhere like that. As I am in the meat trade we have a fridge engineer on call on a regular basis. As a car air con is just a refrigeration unit if he can regas a fridge unit he can sort my air con out. When I asked him he said "of course I do it all the time". Lifted the bonnet found the compressor, attatched some pipes, stuck a temperature probe in the air vent, started the air con and the temperature was 26c, not cold at all. After he checked the pressure he whacked in some gas, opened and shut some valves while checking some readings on 2 dials and the air vent dropped to 8c  . As he said if it has a small leak and this lasts for the rest of the year £20 is a small price once or twice a year. I was well pleased.
  9. You've got to love a bit of Ford rust, the name Isopon comes to mind now,.. .......... I wonder how much of that Isopon filler have I bought in those days .....and I always seemed to lose or run out of that little tube of hardener..
  10. Glad that I am not the only one who has had a few lemons Sierra and Capri come to mind more rust than metal
  11. If it was me I would sell it as it is, but thats just me, 11 years old, scratched :|
  12. I love this " judging by the baby buggy, he's not short of a bob or two" he probably just nicked that buggy minutes ago
  13. Why go to a Main Dealer, there must be a half decent inde garage near you who can advise further.
  14. Not having a dig but has it been serviced recently, i.e air filter, plugs because you mentioned smokier exaust, which for a petrol engine is not good
  15. Sorry but if it was me I would be mightily concerned that the oil light was on and it needed 2 litres to put it right,
  16. I would think that is it the beading, any decent tyre fitting place would wip off the tyre, give it a wire brush up,paint some sealant jollop on the rim, refit the tyre, balance it, job done.
  17. Nothing wrong with hose pipe oil fumes exiting Malcolm, same with our VW Beetle, this had an oil bath air filter with the crank case breather going in as well, took it off, fitted a k&n and rerouted the breather pipe (garden hose) straight down to the ground, job done it ran sweet as a nut
  18. Very true, I have had all the problems, long beep, no on screen display, very quick on screen display, nothing at all, working a treat, I am doing nothing to it now, if it wants to work then it can, if it doesn't want to then don't bother, I have better things to do then muck around with that.....Poxy Car .Rant over
  19. I second that, there are a few names there that I had forgot about I bet that wish that you still had the 1953 Ford Anglia
  20. My 54 plate 1.9 pd seems very low mileage at 86,100
  21. Every one of these that I used to see were full of tin worm especially round the arches, but I still loved them. Where are the fluffy dices ?
  22. Thanks for explaining this, ( I think it replaced the Blubird as the humble saloon/hatch of the range ) The "Bluebird" that I owned engine wise was pretty good, it used to embarress a few cars at the notorious traffic light drag strip Shame that every time it rained another rust hole appeared
  23. Sorry to hi jack this thread but my Octavia sensors were working fine, then I joined this forum and they decided to not display any car and emit a long beep. Strangely now they are working fine, picture of car, beeping, little bars when I get close to other cars......really weird
  24. I keep asking myself why I know nothing about these Primeras were they not very popular ?
