  1. 1.2 clio RT / 1.2 Suzuki Swift / 3.0R legacy tourer / wrx sti impreza hatch soon onto a octy DSG TSI estate (something more akin to the legacy i miss) on the side during legacy/impreza ownership also had a 172 and 200 clio RS, both much more enjoyable as a toy car.
  2. Toying with this too and leaning towards the tuning box route.
  3. The difference being its recommended to run a higher ron fuel but the impreza very clearly states 98 or higher.
  4. I went DSG mainly as it will be my daily driver and while it does suck the fun out of pushing the car hard, my circumstances don't really require it. I am probably closer to one of the motoring purists that want to run with no TCS and a manual gearbox but having lived with my impreza for the past year i am more than happy to have the option to not knacker my left ankle/knee in while stuck in traffic on a regular basis. My impreza is pretty much on par with a golf R in terms of performance but when i pushed the golf hard i just had no real sense of enjoyment as the gearchanges were almost undetectable... just a fairly linear increase in speed without any drama. The impreza with its huge dollop of boost between 3500-5500 just has a lot more fun attached to it. The vRS for me is meant to be a much more practical car with a hint of fun thrown in to stop me from getting too bored. The impreza will still be getting used when i just want to drive, The vRS will get used when i don't want to have to worry about finding momentum99 or v-power in a 100 mile radius
  5. Still quite happy with my own 'hot hatch'. Granted it cannot compete with the new boys in terms of running costs but it happily keeps up on the road and if i was that way inclined could just chuck in another £800 or so to bump it up much closer to the 400bhp mark (from the 330 it sits at)
  6. not been given a specific date from the dealer but was told build date would be first week of november for possible end of november delivery. vRS estate TSI DSG Rallye Green. Sunset Glass, Winter Pack, Canton upgrade, VBF PCP ~£360 PCM. My impreza is costing me about the same without any safety net if anything goes wrong (and £400 a year more tax and 1/2 the mpg)
  7. In my legacy the biggest problem was when they were sat in the sun. I've got the heated cloth seat option for the cold days. I quite like the look of the 19" but thats going to make the ride a bit harder and for me this car is going to be a more refined and comfy drive than my impreza.
  8. am i the only one that doesn't actually want leather seats? The 19" wheels and leather seats are what would put me off this, i'm happy with the one that is getting sent for order this week. I'm wanting something a bit more comfier and without the really cold/hot shock that the leather ends up with in extreme weather.
  9. Well in addition to this.. i've bitten the bullet and ordered the car. Rallye Green 2.0 TSI DSG sunset glass canton upgrade red trim front parking sensors electric mirrors winter pack. I'm hoping i can make do without the options i left out but had to spec the front parking sensors as the wife to be is going to be driving it too. :( Things i'll need to add: dog guard / hatchbag / bumper protector
  10. Hello everyone, my names mike and i'm up in sunny aberdeen. I currently have an impreza hatch (sti 330s) but due to having two dogs really want to get back into having a more practical (and economical car). The impreza was more of an impulse buy at the time and while blisteringly fast, i never really get to use its potential 99% of the time. So i've found myself staring straight into a new petrol DSG octavia vRS estate and if i can shift the impreza in the near future then that is what i shall be getting. Don't really rack up enough miles for the diesel and also don't need anywhere near as much kit as comes standard on the golf GTD. My only real question regarding the car would be whether or not the canton stereo upgrade is really worth it. I just need the ability to play music through my phone via bluetooth or listen to DAB radio.
