  1. i am quite fed up with my 6 speed manual gearbox. 1.6 TDI. fairly new car less than a year old. 26000 KM done.

almost everyday when i do reverse, it grinds into gear. it grinds like 1 out of 4 times. i am sure i did full clutch in.

doesnt matter if i engage the gear fast or slow. it still grinds.

sometimes i go into 2nd gear before engaging reverse. but it could still grind at times even if it's done that way. what's next?

  2. My car didn't come with the light sensor on the windscreen. I only had humidity sensor.

I have done the retrofit to a RLFS sensor (rain, light, humidity). Retrofit an auto light switch.

Added a cable between light switch and BCM.

    Auto wiper works fine.

    Humidity is fine.

Auto light works fine when key is in car and when car is running.

The only thing I couldn't get it was the auto CH/LH lights. I have enabled the CH / LH menu in bolero. Have enabled comfort illumination for CH  LH from vcds.

I still need to flash the high beam to get CH lights. My headlights wouldn't light up when I unlock the car even in AUTO mode.

I am not sure what am I missing in terms of coding. How should I troubleshoot?

  3. i have the octavia estate. i am 1.8meters tall. 3 young kids in the rear.

2 kids are in a rear facing child seat. the other in a forward facing child seat. had to find seats that are narrower in width to get it fitting 3 in a row.

i can't move BOTH front seats all the way back without hitting the two rear facing child seat.

given a choice i wish i could have more leg room at the front. so ya i find that octavia is not big enough for me. a superb would make more sense, or even a Kodiaq.

boot space on the octavia estate is good enough though.

it is NOT fun fixing the child seats because i cant use isofix anymore with 3 seats. isofix is found on the centre of both left and right seats. if i use isofix for both outer chairs, i can't fit another chair in the middle seat. you are better off with a car that has 3 ROWS of seats.

I got a box from dealer, the speed nuts(×4), screws(×4) and blanking covers (×2) were NOT part of the box order.

We eventually found the right part numbers for the screws and blanking covers, I ended up getting the speed nuts in partsforcars shop.

IIRC There was confusion but for drivers side of my car (RHD) I ended up ordering a Passagers side for a (LHD).

i bought the box from the parts dealer but it didn't come with speed nuts or screws. could anyone help out with the part numbers for the speed nuts and screws? thanks

One thing I really miss from my Octavia II estate is the plastic tray that sat below the front section of the luggage cover. It was ideal for raincoats, brollies and numerous other random bits that end up dotted around the car.

A perusal of the Octavia III estate accessories brochure brought the 'Multifunction box' 5E9 061 103 to my attention and I have recently bought one (£44 from the dealer - about the same as Superskoda with the postage).

It consists of two aluminium rails with a heavy vinyl panel between and it can be rolled up out of the way when not required. The front rail locates in two slots just behind the back seat and - when folded out - the rearmost rail hooks onto the forward 2 foldable bag hooks. Pictured below both in folded and unfolded mode:

At first I thought the vinyl 'shelf' seemed a little flimsy compared with the solid plastic 'box' in the Octavia II, but it claims to be able to hold up to 3kg, and certainly offers more usable space. Unlike the box in the Octavia II which could only be accessed from inside the car (under the lidded section of the luggage cover behind the back seat) this one can only be accessed from within the boot - which on balance I think I prefer. Lifting the hinged section of the luggage cover still gives access to the area of the boot behind the back seats even with the multifunction box deployed.

Given the amount of use it has had in the short time I have had it, I think it was a worthwhile investment and it further increases the versatility of the estates boot.

What is the height between the boot floor to the bottom of the vinyl when unfolded? Thanks!

Just send an email to H&R in Germany and they will come back to you really quickly with part numbers etc.. for arb and lowering springs..then just Google the part. I bees or pop it into eBay.de and you will get a bargain.. they are a really comfortable ride even fully loaded with ski kit, roof box and 2 kids. Never looked back on my estate. Was so impressed I have them on the wife's Fabia vrs too.

hihi, did you change the springs only? how about the shock absorbers?

Today i fitted my footwell lights all boldsport but with the optional 6000k led lamps . When i got the kit connected  i connected everything up and tested in home with a 9v battery to make sure all was fine which it was  . Fitted and routed the cables today and connected to the bcm pin 72 then started the coding. I couldn't find (8)-Interior light; light configuration-Fussraumbeleuchtung as per the instruction but i guess as mine is a newer car i just found light configure which was in english footwell lights. I activated this and commenced with the other adaptions which were all there as per the instructions. I have the option under lighting on my amundsen to adjust footwell brightnes but no light at all . i double checked that i connected to pin 72 on the bcm. I have placed a multi meter on the first connector from pin 73 and earth and no voltage at all. ANY IDEAS ANYONE.........?  Oh build is MY16 AND BRAND NEW VCDS 17.1.3

    Go to

    (8)-Interior light; light configuration-Fussraumbeleuchtung

Change value from ‘not installed’ to ‘installed’

(This puts the footwell light % setting in the infotainment system (under lights))

For my MY16 greenline, the German words are in English

    Fussraumbeleuchtung is footwell light.

Thanks to all for the guide. I managed to do this retrofitting. It was really tough.
