  1. In my experience a remap will not improve your fuel economy. The biggest impact to fuel economy will be your driving style. Reducing motorway speed will help if you do a lot of motorway miles. 60-65mph will be a lot better than 75-80mph for example. Keeping the correct tyre pressures will help as will a clean air filter and good servicing. Another one to note would be to run on Super Unleaded. Yes it costs more but the fuel economy is better. Save your money on the remap - it won't give you what you want.
  2. It only runs on V Power so that helps it along. It's probably on the original plugs, maybe I'll get them checked out 👍
  3. So in an idea born out of boredom during lockdown I am going to see if I can get my 1.0tsi Seat Toledo (Rapid in disguise) to 150bhp. Just to be clear this is more for fun than a serious attempt of extracting POWER from the poor little 3 pot. I actually drive the car in economy most of the time but who doesn't want a little more poke?! So the car will be 3 years old on Friday so now is a good time to have a play. I already had the car remapped to 143bhp so the search is for another 7bhp! After some digging around, and not wanting to spend too much money I have purchased a Pipercross panel filter and a Racingline turbo elbow. I'm also having the car lowered on a set of Pi springs to get rid of the 'I'm on stilts' look. The car will have a before and after dyno (Different dyno to before) so we'll get to see any improvements. I'm hoping the magic 150bhp will be eclipsed but we'll have to wait and see. The big day is tomorrow so not long to wait. I'll add some pictures of how the car sits now and do some after pictures to show the drop. I'll be sure to show the dyno graphs as well.
  4. I very much doubt if you will have any problems at all with that set-up. I had 18's on my Superb with 20mm spacers and lowered with no rubbing issues whatsoever.
  5. Great choice! Then I would say that because I have one 👍 All mods should be declared with your insurance if you're following the letter of the law. I hope you enjoy the car.
  6. They'd bolt straight on - no problem. The difference in the ET (Offset) would mean that they stick out 5mm more than the standard Rapid wheels - you'd hardly notice.
  7. Have you driven one yet? I think you'll find it very different to a 320d. You're used to a big comfy amount of torque, in the 1.0 3 pot torque doesn't really exist. The DSG box will be better than a manual but you'll definitely be prodding the pedal harder on hills with an expected downshift. As for mpg, with mostly motorway driving you will see 50mpg +. They run sweeter on V Power, much quieter engine. If you can adjust to it after the diesel you will find a good car. I must add I don't have a Scala but I do have a 2017 Rapid Spaceback with a DSG box and a 2018 Toledo with a manual box on my driveway so I do have some experience with these engines.
  8. Good luck with your search! The SE Tech is a good spec - the Sport offers bigger wheels, harder seats and a big glass roof that doesn't open...when we shopped for one the Sport was an obvious no-go. Tinted windows are very easily added for no more than £200, I would have thought and any good dealer will be able to get them tinted for you if that's what you desire. We have a 2017 Rapid Spaceback 1.0 TSI (95bhp) with a DSG box and a 2018 Toledo Xcellence 1.0 TSI (Was a 110bhp but with a remap to 143bhp) with a manual box. The Toledo has a very good spec and higher quality interior materials than the Rapid, it is a step up I feel. The leather steering wheel and gear knob are a softer leather, the seats are half fake leather and half fake alcantara which feel nicer on my bottom than the cloth in the Rapid. The Toldeo is my daily driver and with the remap it's absolutely fine - not slow, not sluggish, 6th gear is a little tall so you may need to drop down to 5th if you're trying to drive up a steep hill at 60mph. My average MPG which I calculate brim-to-brim is just over 48mpg across 16,000 miles. Most of this driving is B roads, my best MPG over a full tank was 58mpg which was almost all motorway at no more than 70mph. A true 50+mpg is more than possible with more motorway driving. The Rapid is my wifes car and we use that at the weekend. The suspension and steering is more firm and direct which is a good thing because the Toldeo is very soggy. The DSG box is better for all-round driving i'd say but the annoying delay on pull-away gets on my nerves if needing to get out of a junction a bit quick. In terms of engine noise my Toledo runs on Shell v Power and is noticeably quieter than the Rapid which only gets supermarket fuel. I cannot comment on the 1.2 4 cylinder engine but we are very happy with our two 1.0 engines on our driveway.
  9. Yes all good thank you. I'm coming up to 20,000 miles now and enjoying the extra poke from the remap still.
  10. They will bolt straight on with no issues at all. I went from 16" to 18" on my Superb and noticed little difference. I would advise having the 4 wheel alignment checked over as they are quite sensitive.
  11. I had my Superb 1.6tdi remapped to 148bhp (Can't remember the exact torque figure). The difference over standard was night and day. I didn't notice any improvement in economy - it didn't change at all from standard. I'm now on my 3rd remapped car and I can say from experience that economy is not improved - just performance and driveability. Perhaps if you did the exact same journey 5 days a week on the motorway you'd see a very slight improvement?
  12. Yep - I have had mine done with good success No need for the silly air filter either.
