  1. Hi folks as I have said in the heading I may need some new tyres in a few months-Don’t know whether to go again for the Continentals or opt for any other makes (suggestions pls?) The current ones are just hitting 17.000 miles. Is that good for the life expectancy of these tyres? Or not very good. I can swear that I have not been thrashing the tyres due to speeding etc. Thanks:)
  2. I had my first service done at Autosales Cannock. I can vouch that they did not change the oil-infact they did not even touch it! Also they did not stamp the service schedule. Rang up and complained-they did nothing. So I topped it up. As for the service schedule went in about a week later-obligingly they stamped the book! A month ago I had to take it in for the second service-Autosales Cannock (Burntwood showroom) Handed the keys to reception and made a point of telling them (in front of other customers) that I had to top up the oil last time-make sure they change this time! Got my car back nearly two hours later-as opposed to an hour last time and all was good. They changed the oil-and stamped the book. Generally did a good job. There is a certain member of staff I will not be having dealings with again. Apart from that a much improved customer service and showroom.
  3. Thanks to all who gave their opinion. p.s., I know I keep saying this but....never been so chuffed with a car-my Fabia vRS
  4. I have a friend who is so impressed with my Fabia vRS that he wants to get one later this year or early part of next year. And has asked me to look at the possible prices that he may have to pay. (I know this is a question that no one can really accurately answer…but give it a go) With the impending arrival of the new vRS??? would they still be expensive to buy second hand? Especially if they are going to make it with a much hotter engine he is hoping that the second hand car prices will hopefully come down? Hope folks can advise thanks
  5. I know that there is a lot of rumour of when and if they will produce another Fabia vRS but how’s this sound? I was in WH Smith yesterday and was reading this mag and it said that Skoda were knocking the vRS diesel engine on the head because of the escalating diesel prices and dropping a petrol engine which produces 160+ bhp (Cannot remember the full details) Has anyone heard about this before and what do you think the likelihood of this happening? Thanks all!
  6. Errr.....how does forty sound-apart from being too old:) I may be forty but my vRS is the best car I have ever owned!
  7. Hia I had exactly the same happen to me the other day. A chime was heard I looked at my dash In the black bit of plastic in the middle between the speedo and rev counter a light sign with an ! mark was lit. Stayed on for about two minutes and went out. Checked my lights all round and were ok. Posted a question on the same subject yesterday and people have told me that it is something to do with the software in the computer-no need to worry.
  8. Hia Folks I was driving my gorgeous Fabia vRS the other day when I heard a 'chime' from somewhere. On the speedo display-the black display in the middle it showed a lightbulb with a ! in the middle of it. About two mins later the light went out I checked the lights and they all work ok. Is it worth worrying about? Or was it just a gremlin in the works. Cheers folks
  9. Hia All Last night had went to local Skoda dealer to look at the Fabia Estate. Got to admit I do like it. Plenty of room and loads of space. What do others think?
  10. Hi Folks I will eventually stop saying this but 'Over the moon with my Fabia vRS. I have been looking recently at these new headlights called Xenon. At the time of ordering I could not afford these as a factory option, but... Is it possible to change the normal headlight bulbs to Xenon? Or does the complete headlight housing have to be replaced?:( Thanks for any help Bumface
  11. I read earlier today that Skoda will introduce the new Fabia vRS in late May-any truth in this?
  12. A bit late in telling this but...... My Skoda Fabia vRS had to go in for an oil change last November. A few days before I took it in I checked the oil level-it was slightly down. But thought they will top this up at the service. I had the service and brought the car back home. Then checked the oil-it was as black as it was before (been told the oil goes black from fresh within a few yards of driving)(OK) But the oil was still at the (exact) level as it was when I handed it over earlier that day! Rang Skoda Cannock-told me that they can assure me that the oil was changed. They had not changed it. They are too slap dashy-this also goes with certain members of the sales staff!
  13. I am going away for three months and was wondering what to do with my Fabia vRS I will be disconnecting the battery and removing it. This is to stop someone from nicking my Fabia. Also I do not know what to do with the diesel in the tank? Do I run it till there is barely any in the tank? Or do I fill it? Also if I am away for longer than the above (Going to New Zealand) Does Diesel go off or have a ‘shelf life’ whilst in my tank-if so will it harm my Fabia? Thanks for all advice
  14. Hi Folks Just wanted to let you know.... I had a Fabia just under a year ago and chuffed wi it! The other day I was on the sliproad merging onto a motorway. The first and second lanes were busy on this motorway so I put my foot down to get into the third lane. I have never experienced acceleration like it! I am no boy racer! I do know that threads on this site relating to what I have just mentioned are usually frowned upon. But just got to let people know this. Regards
  15. I have seen three since the launch. And they are growing on me. I would even consider having one if I had to get rid of my beautiful Black Fabia vRS. (which I hope will run forever) I do like to go out on my mountain bike. And one of these would be ideal to carry my bike around. When I went to a dealer the other week I sat in one. Could not get over the room. I do agree with one comment though it does look like a Pope mobile.
  16. Hi folks not been on this site for a while but how's this for a compliment? Just under a year ago I had a Fabia vRS. I went out with one of my mates the other night for a drink. I was driving. Now my mate has got a Mercedes SLR-I have been in it, very comfy and bleedin fast. Picked up my mate and went on an A class road got to sixty and set the cruise. My mate could not stop giving my car the thumbs up:thumbup: He kept tapping the dashboard for squeeks-none. Gave a thumbs up for the stereo and sound. He did mention how powerful the engine felt! Like I say I have had it just under a year now and I could not be more chuffed wi it. No problems (touch wood) Just thought I would let you know
  17. Hello All Need some advice please. Yesterday morning I took my Fabia into Skoda garage to have its first service. The display was telling me INSPEC at just under 10.000 miles. I have been advised on this forum that my Skoda does use oil for the first 10.000 miles so have kept it topped up. Last week I checked the oil and it was a couple of mm from max fill level on the dipstick. And it was jet black. So did not touch it as the following week it was going in for service I handed it over at 8.30 am yesterday morning. Three hours later had a call to come and collect it. Around two hours later I got home and I checked the oil. It was at the same level and the same consistency/colour as it was when I handed it over at 8.30. So rang Skoda garage. They assured me that the oil had been changed. I questioned them on this? Went to an independent garage and they told me that the colour does go black after this short time. Even saying this I would have thought there should still be some trace of the virgin brown colour of the oil. Asked a friend who told me to do a test.... Get some oil on your finger and thumb and if there is some stringy oil as you pull finger and thumb apart then it is new oil (Hope you are following me) I did this this morning and the oil is like water consistency (very thin) Advice please????? Thanks
  18. Like someone has said previous....it's hideous!
  19. I have missed the last few 5th Gear progs on Ch5. Anyhow have they tested the new Fabia yet?? Thank you
  20. Was talking to a rep tonight whilst Fabia launch was taking place and he told me that Volkswagen are taking over another company! Proton. The deal is not done and dusted but it is going ahead. Anyone else heard of this? Thanks
  21. Just come back from the Skoda Fabia launch. Its a nice car. Some nice touches to it. Had a test drive in a petrol version. 1200 cc engine-surprisingly it's quite nippy. Don't think I could have another petrol car again-I am a diesel convert. P.S. Love the new Skoda advert
  22. I aint had an invite? Shall I ring my dealer and ask-or are they being sent out to potential customers? If that's the case I aint having nothing for at least six years. Getting my moneys worth out the car!
