  1. Many thanks for the help and information - I'll give it a go at the weekend and fingers crossed it will do the trick.
  2. Last Thursday I thought I heard a random clicking noise from near the vents in the centre of the dashboard, and over the past few days it has been happening more often. It sounds like the flasher unit, and mainly happens after the indicators have been used, although it sometimes occurs without the indicators having been used. It doesn't appear to make the indicators flash as it's happened a couple of times when I've been stood in traffic behind another vehicle and I've seen nothing in the reflection. Does the flasher unit simply need replacing or is it something more sinister? The car suffered from water ingress about 6 years ago, but was sorted out and there have been no problems since then.
  3. I had a flashing glow plug light a couple of months ago - popped down to the independant I use and the first thing I was asked was 'are the brake lights working?' Apparently if the brake light switch is faulty it lights the glow plug light - worth checking out perhaps?
  4. I had a similar problem when my car was three and a half years old. It had been purchased used from a Skoda dealer at just under three years old, and had a repair to the loom shortly after purchase. When the water appeared in the footwell the dealer didn't want to know, other than to ask for £400 to investigate the problem. I was convinced the dealer knew of the problem, and contacted Skoda UK. They said no consideration for a goodwill contribution could be made until I had paid for a diagnosis which I refused. Several letters and telephone calls were exchanged over a four week period before I advised Skoda UK enough is enough, I will see the selling dealer in the small claims court. I was asked not to be hasty, and within a week I received a letter stating SUK would pay for the diagnosis. They ended up paying for the diagnosis, subsequent repairs and a suitable hire car for the three weeks the car was being repaired. I also got to take the car to a different dealer as I didn't want the supplying dealer to benefit as they had been so unco-operative in the first place.
  5. I purchased a set for the rear doors and rear window via the Privacy Shades website. You are redirected to the distributor who is based in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire. The fit is very good, and the cost was £80 including VAT. I had spent months looking for them as the car already had the clips in the windows but the dealer said he knew of no blinds that were available from Skoda.
  6. Many thanks for the information - my NS bulb blew last week and I was able to change it yesterday in 5minutes thanks to the guide. I reckon that I have now needed 4 or 5 headlamp bulbs in the three and a half years of owning the car - I have never known anything like it.
  7. Keep pursuing Skoda UK as well as the dealer. My car was out of warranty when I experienced the same problems, and it took several weeks of 'phone calls and a detailed letter before Skoda UK agreed to foot the bill for the Investigation, repair and a hire car. The supplying dealer was most unhelpful, using the same tone as you have experienced by quoting that this type of problem is not covered by the warranty. The strange thing is that they carried out an earlier repair on the interior lights under warranty but there was no record of this with Skoda UK...........
  8. I managed to get Skoda UK to pay for the full cost of repairs when my Superb was 10 months out of warranty. It took a letter and many telephone calls to the Customer Service Centre, but in the end they relented and even paid the cost of hiring an estate car for me as we have twin boys - we needed a Superb sized boot for the double buggy! I also specified which dealer I wanted the car to go to as I did'nt want it to go back to the supplying dealer. Unfortunately this dealer was no better than the supplying dealer, as the car came back with a cracked windscreen. The car was at the dealer's for 3 weeks in the end, and that is another dealer that I will not deal with again. All the servicing is carried out by a local, excellent independant garage.
  9. I have a 52 plate Superb and have used a pair of ISOFIX seats in the rear. The plastic guides mentioned in the earlier post are a must if you want to protect the seats. Peter.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions - I'll get it looked at when I have a minute although the 2 dealers nearest to me are most unhelpful. I'll let you know if I can get it fixed.
  11. The multichanger seems to be acting up again on our Superb. We keep getting a mechanic or check magazine message on the display and the CD won't play. If I remove the magazine and replace it sometimes does the trick for a day or two, and then the problem returns. I have tried a lens cleaner but it doesn't cure the problem. It seems to happen when the weather is cold and/or damp. has anyone else experienced this problem?
  12. Passat mudflaps look as though they are the correct profile are are a couple of inches longer. I priced them up and they were about twice the cost of the Skoda items so I had the Skoda ones. They look OK but I question how effective they are.
  13. If the dealer is not very helpful or suggests that you will have to pay for the repairs, speak to Skoda Customer Care. They eventually agreed to pay for the diagnosis on my 52 plate comfort last month, and then all the repair costs following the diagnosis of a leaking pollen filter housing.
  14. Having read the posting from Dave36 regarding his warranty, I received exactly the same response from the dealer that supplied our used Superb last year - ie they didn't want to know unless we paid to have the problem investigated. After speaking to Skoda it seems that there is no actual approved warranty for the used cars sold as Skoda Approved - the individual garage can use any warranty company that they wish. After several weeks, many phone calls and a letter to Skoda Customer Care, they eventually agreed to pay for the diagnosis (which I had previously been told I would have to pay for myself at a cost of approximately
