  1. And today its back working !! using apple car play seems to be a bit like owning a TVR, it stops working for no reason, come back to it a few hours later and its ok !
  2. Today the music function in Apple CarPlay stopped working. Maps, phone etc fine but no music. the system opens up and then immediately closes down and goes back t the menu. Still works on my wife's phone using the older apple CarPlay system. Just weird!
  3. I have got the smell of the clutch slip when putting the car into reverse (DSG gearbox) and trying to reverse onto my driveway quickly, this is because the reverse gear takes time to properly engage and when in a rush it is easy to get cracking on the accelerator before the gear (clutch) is engaged. Net result no movement initially followed rapid backwards movement and the nasty smell. Not a criticism of the car more my driving technique (and lack of patience).
  4. No the infotainment system does not need to be turned off. it shuts down completely when the ignition is turned off.
  5. It was fitted by Allams of Epsom
  6. It was fitted by the dealer when I bought the car cost £50 from memory. has saved the paint on the bumper being ruined by the dogs as they jump in an out
  7. sorry should have read working cocker spaniel, not woking !
  8. One of the reasons for buying the Kamiq was the arrival of our dog, a Dalmatian, meant that the boot in the UP GTI just wasn't going to work. Having got a second dog (woking cocker spaniel) I decided the boot was getting too messy and covered in dog hair so researched boot liners. I splurged out on a Titan Boot liner with their additional bumper flap and cover for the back seats to stop the build up of Dalmatian slobber on the rear head rests. At £139 it's not cheap but the quality and fitment is top notch, it has velcro strips to hold it in place, although I added a couple of additional stick on velcro bits to ensure that the cover stayed in the boot pockets properly. Very pleased - comes in a variety of colours black, grey, navy, red I went for the light brown so the white fur doesn't show up so much - as they say Dalmatians on shed twice a year - for six months in the spring and for six months in the autumn!
  9. That's not good, no suggestions I'm afraid other than contact the local dealer
  10. I'm keen to get an Enyaq but will wait for the cheaper models to come out - £40k is IMO way too expensive.
  11. The £40k price point is for the initial model that will only be offered at the top of the range, this is typical for the new electric models coming out of the VAG. Go to the Skoda website and you can spec a much cheaper version closer to £30k (after gov subsidies). Not sure about the "wait for second models" I'd be deeply worried about the battery life expectancy on a three year old leccie car - I remember the Top Gear guys buying a second hand Nissan Leaf that could only muster a range of 40 miles!
  12. Having downloaded the logos from the internet on to a memory stick (jpg), here is how to add the station logos
  13. Having bought a stock SE, the dog hair/slobber on the rear head rests is becoming a source of irritation, so my mind has wandered to whether or not I could order a set of replacement seat covers from Skoda and get a retrimmer to fit them? Any thoughts guys?
  14. Unfortunately I was 12 months ahead of you in crashing mine, the repairer took months to get the parts (new front wing and new front door) and that had to come from the factory as the model was so new. Hopefully the parts situation has improved but be prepared to have to go to Skoda UK.
  15. not sure about this thread, the horn on my Kamiq sounds loud and strong, not at all as described
  16. Surrey John you're spot on I have a Kamiq SE on 17 inch wheels, the ride is good but I have noticed that since changing to winters tyres from the originally specced Goodyear efficient grips the ride has improved. I believe that the Goodyear EGs are a dreadful tyre that is too hard for its own good both in terms of ride quality and grip in colder/wetter conditions. My advice would be to ditch these tyres as soon as possible.
  17. definitely should be backlit when the lights are on, if not you should talk to the Skoda dealer.
  18. Yup that's pretty much in keeping with my experience the best I've got out of it in normal driving conditions is just over 60 mpg.
  19. Errrr....I was giving an indication of real world fuel consumption figures for driving long distances (200 miles) at motorway speeds, I was using cruise control so suspect that these figures would be better if driving without it. Getting 72.3 mpg is impressive but comes from driving 11 miles at an average speed of 36 which is not really comparable.
  20. I regularly drive up to Manchester from Surrey, at a steady 65 mph you'll get mid to high 50s mpg at 70 it'll be around 51-52 mpg but that drops to mid to low 40s mpg at a steady 80mph.
  21. I have 115 1.0 DSG Kamiq SE It's brilliantly quiet and refined with more performance than you'd expect for such a small engine. I can't honestly think of a time when I felt it needed more power (I got it to replace my UP Gti - same engine). Yes the 1.5 has more torque and is barely less fuel efficient, but it costs a lot more. The DSG gearbox does always want to be in the highest gear possible but kicks down quickly to push the Kamiq into the optimum torque band - but knock the gearbox into sport and the car really does drive down the road in a more spirited fashion (at the expense of fuel economy). IMO go for the higher spec 1.0 with DSG and save the money over the 1.5 or spend it on extra kit!
  22. Yup, I stopped watching the "woke" BBC some months ago!
  23. I suspect it is that VW expected the T-Cross to be a young person's car and therefore more important to look good on the outside than have a classy interior. Hence the migraine inducing colour options (see attached)! It's targeted at young families not oldies that can't get in and out of smaller cars. Seems odd to me as all the journalists immediately talk about interior quality so you're on the back foot from the start with the T-Cross and T-Roc. Penny pinching does seem to be the driver here, especially if Skoda can get it right with the interior of the Kamiq. Not sure about the German market but VW got it very wrong as to the target market for the UP GTI, they said it was a young person's introduction to the GTI market and most people on the UK owner's club forum were like me 40+ who wanted to have a second car that was a hoot to drive. 24. I'm now looking to switch to winter tyres so will post back once done,
  25. e-Root spot on, none of the Crossovers in this segment have 4WD or AWD (that I am aware of) they're all high riding hatchbacks, only in the segment above (the small SUV, Karoq, Ateca, Q3 etc) offer AWD/4WD and then only for the top end models not entry models. I bought the Kamiq for the space and refinement and standard tech. JXS - the Kamiq has the lowest driving position out of the three VAG comparable products but is better than the T-Cross and way better than the Arona, although the Arona handles really well. The T-Cross interior is very disappointing both in terms of materials used (given its a VW), and has drab grey interior colour schemes - unless you go for a high spec model in which case replace drab interior with the word gaudy! The Arona's interior is "basic" with no real feel good factor about it unless you go for FR trim but then FR comes with sports suspension and it ruins the ride quality. The extra 2 inches in height for the T-Cross does not translate into extra headroom as the seat is more than two inches higher (than the Kamiq) so negates the extra height of the vehicle. As for other comments as to comparisons with the T-Roc if you want a DSG gearbox you have to go for SE trim and opt for the 1.5l engine - with a starting price of £26.6k before metallic paint etc it's way more expensive and has a cheaper interior and suffers from the same drab/gaudy interior colour scheme alternatives as the T-Cross.
