  1. Is it possible to make Bolero display Chinese, Korean etc. fonts in songs? Is there a language pack or something that could be installed? My iTunes displays them without a problem.
  2. Hi kimmu, that's great to hear that you've been able to fix the noise! I really want to get it fixed on my Fabia III 110 as well, and you are now the 2nd person on this forum who has reported the noise gone after the "charcoal canister hose" has been replaced. (User kristianRS in this thread was the first to report the noise gone: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/360076-low-beeping-sound-when-driving-with-cruise-control/page-2) Just to make sure: so they only replaced the hose/tube itself, but not the canister? Is it possible to see this hose when you open the bonnet so that I could point it to the mechanic? I assume they'd replace it under warranty, right? My service is only due after another 7,000 km, which will be roughly around September next year --- but I don't think I'd want to wait that long so it looks like I'll have to pay them a visit earlier. Did the mechanic say anything about whether not fixing this noise could have any detrimental effect on the engine in the long-term? P.S.: it's a bit troubling (but at the same time relieving) to hear that this noise is present in VW models as well, but I wonder why?? I also wonder if replacing this hose will solve the problem in the long-term or is it going to reappear after a year or so?
  3. Thanks for your reply! Is it possible to see this "canister purge system" when you open the bonnet so that I could point it out to the mechanic? (If it is, I'd really appreciate if you could indicate it on a picture?) So it's actually the entire system that's the culprit or just a hose/tube in this system that was replaced? By the way, would they replace it for free under warranty? I'd also be interested to know if your mechanic mentioned anything about why it would make such beeping sound, and if it's detrimental to the car in any way if it doesn't get fixed soon (my next service is only about 10 months from now)?
  4. Thanks for your reply! Is it possible to see this "canister purge system" when you open
  5. The sports clutch pedal on my Fabia III squeeks a little as well. Is this normal? I guess I should mention it to them when I take it for the next maintenance?
  6. How to make Bolero display Chinese, Korean etc. song titles? Is there a language pack or something that could be installed? My iTunes displays them without a problem.
  7. I see. If possible, could you make a little experiment? 1. Select the "Tracks" option on your Amundsen so that it displays all the tracks on the SD card rather than folders and try scrolling all the way down. 2. Check what song appears at the very bottom of the list. Assuming it displays all 16004 songs, the songs at the bottom of the list will probably be those starting with Y or Z? Another experiment: to make Amundsen display all your folders only. Does the folder at the bottom of the list correspond with the one on the actual card?
  8. Are you sure Bolero actually recognizes all of them from A-Z?
  9. After I removed the songs/album folders coming after the letter R (i.e. the ones that wouldn't show up on Bolero), I'm left with cca. 29GB worth of music on my SD card, which amounts to 227 albums (folders with 10+ mp3s in each of them) + 906 individual mp3s. So altogether there must be over 3,000 mp3s on the entire card. Doing some research last night I found a thread on this forum where another user wrote: So I guess 4,000 files altogether is the limit?
  10. I threw over 40GB worth of mp3s (which included several thousand mp3s + over a hundred of albums-folders) on an 128GB SDXC card today and it works in my Fabia III Bolero. HOWEVER, it only seems to display a limited number of songs, though. In my case, it stopped at some song starting with letter R (the mp3s are listed in alphabetical order), which means it actually only recognized cca. 29GB worth of music, as I found out after removing the remaining songs after the letter R. After removing those songs from my SD card I still ended up with 1000+ mp3s altogether, so it's a bit confusing Bolero would still recognize them since in the manual it states: "In the folder list there are max. 1000 files / folders displayed in alphabetical order." Any ideas?
  11. Yes, I'm hearing the exact same thing in my Fabia III 1.2 TSI 110... have you by chance found a solution as to what could be the problem?
  12. Sorry for upping another thread about this beeping sound, but I'd really like to know what exactly is the root of the problem as I'm hearing the exact same in my Fabia III 1.2 TSI 110 and under the same conditions you've described it. Have you guys figured anything out? I really like the car otherwise but this beeping sound is quite annoying and I really wish something could be done about this... Here are my recordings: https://vid.me/GS2G https://vid.me/TKgS
  13. Hey guys, any update on this one? I'm hearing the exact same in my Fabia III 1.2 TSI 110 and under the same conditions you've described it, and I find it quite annoying. I really like the car otherwise and wish something could be done about this... I've recorded it, too: https://vid.me/GS2G https://vid.me/TKgS
  14. Under what conditions could that happen? What temperatures approx. are we talking about? For example, I do cca. 25 km/day and these days the temps range from around -2C to 3C. I assume this shouldn't be a problem?
  15. Could you please elaborate? Why is it bad to vent it if you're not going on a trip?
  16. Thanks for your answer. Is there any harm whatsoever in refueling past the air vent if you are not going on a long journey?
  17. I bought a used Fabia III (late 2014) 1.2 TSI 110 last week and refueled it before I officially started using it. So I drove around quite a bit over the past week to the point the tank seemed to be almost empty last night, as the fuel pointer on the dash was almost all the way down to the lowest point. Perhaps 0.5 mm less than the lowest point. I got 764 km (~474.73 UK miles) on this tank, though I could probably do up to almost 800 km but I didn't dare to push it to the extreme as I'm not sure how accurate the fuel indicator pointer is. I'm pretty happy with such mileage and hope I can keep it up. What astonished me was that I was able to pump 53l (!!) (i.e. 11.66 Imperial gallons) of fuel last night! How is that even possible when the tank capacity is supposedly 45l...?? So there must be like 9 or 10l reserve in the tank? The refueling first stopped at around 41l, but then I hand-held fuel pump handle and managed to squeeze another 12l till I got to 53l...
  18. Does anyone know if Bolero supports reversing camera?
  19. So I bought a new-old (less than a year old) Fabia III the other day and I'm loving it so far -- except for these 2 different high pitched sounds that come from the engine (?) when your foot is on the gas. Please have a listen here: 1. https://vid.me/GS2G 2. https://vid.me/TKgS In video 1 you can hear it clearly, while in video 2 you may want to turn up your volume a bit louder. There are 2 different kinds of sound, the 1st one is something like a high-pitched "t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t" sound while the 2nd one is a continual, uninterrupted noise. (I used cruise control in the video to demonstrate the difference of how the sound disappears as soon as you take your foot off the gas pedal), though the sounds don't seem related to cruise control in particular). My observations so far: - the high-pitched noise seems to appear especially at speeds between cca. 50-90 km/h --- I haven't noticed it at higher speeds (e.g. 110 km/h and up) - the noise seems to appear only when the foot is on the gas pedal or when cruise control is on - as soon as you remove your foot or turn off cruise control, the sound disappears Any ideas? Is it the engine or could it be something else?
  20. Hi everyone, thanks for your input so far! I'm located in southern Central Europe, so we definitely do get snow and ice here. 1) Yes, unfortunately only 1 set of rims (16" black Beam). I tried to negotiate to make them give me 15" steel wheels + winter tyres, but they weren't willing to do that. Instead they agreed to keep the 16" Michelin winter tyres on and add 16" Dunlop summer tyres as a bonus. - Is there any way I could protect the wheels from gravel/salt scratching them during the winter? Like some transparent protective film or something? 2) Hm, interesting. I will try to capture in on camera sometimes if it appears again.
  21. First of all, hello everyone! I'm new here. I'm seriously considering purchasing a used Fabia III 1.2 TSI 110 (Ambition). The car is less than a year old and has been used by one of the employees at a local Skoda dealer. The car has a sports suspension and black 16" Beam alloys, so the ride is a bit firmer than I'd wish but it looks real neat and sporty on the other hand. Although the alloys look good and all, I was kind of hoping to get a deal and make them put 15" steel wheels + tyres for the winter for 1) better handling in the snow + lower fuel consumption 2) and to protect the beautiful black alloys (there's a lot more gravel and salt during the winter)... But when I went for a test ride today I noticed they had already put the winter Michelin Alpine tyres on it, so it makes me doubt they would want to give me smaller wheels + winter tyres instead. I'd like to ask you for advice: should I worry about driving with 215/45/R16 winter tyres in terms of handling, fuel consumption and possible damage to the alloys (gravel, salt ...)? I'm from Europe. On the test ride today I did cca. 100 km --- mostly highway, some country road and a bit of town and had average fuel consumption 6.1l/100 km according to Bolero, which isn't too bad I guess, since I was doing mostly 130 km/h (and even 140-150 km/h) on the highway. Another question: after driving for a while I noticed a faint higher-pitched sound coming from the engine every now and then... it was barely audible but it was there: sounded like crickets in slow motion if I may describe it like that... and it occurred while I was driving, not idling. Not constantly, though. The engine is very quiet otherwise, except when accelerating you can obviously hear it, which is totally normal. But is it normal for the engine to emit any other sounds than the "regular" engine sound? I raised this issue to the Skoda dealer and they said they'd look into it, though something tells me they'll dismiss it saying nothing is wrong. Thanks in advance for your answers.
