  1. Seems like the charcoal canister hose was the culprit! I got it replaced the other day and the beeping / high pitched noise is now finally gone. The original hose was ribbed (and plastic, I believe), while the new one smooth and made of rubber. The mechanic took the old hose into his hand and blew through it -- and you could hear it produce a loud noise, while blowing through the new hose does not produce any sound (only a slight hush of the air).

Many thanks to the users kristianRS and kimmu for the heads-up on this.
  3. Ah, now that you mention it: I believe there is indeed an option in Bolero settings to adjust the volume automatically according to the speed. I'll check it tonight.
  4. I noticed that Bolero volume sometimes seems to lower itself by a notch on its own. For example, I set a certain volume and then all of a sudden the music seems to be playing at a slightly lower volume than I originally set it. At first I thought it was just me "mishearing" things, but then it has happened on more than a couple occasions now, which makes me wonder what seems to be the problem. I mean, it's not a big issue or anything... but still. Could it possibly be related to the automatic dimming function of the instrument cluster?? Has anyone else noticed anything similar? P.S.: yesterday I noticed another strange thing: I was driving, keeping my hands on the wheel and not touching any buttons, when all of a sudden I hear beeping as though I was tapping on the Bolero screen. When I looked at the screen I saw the "Repeat" button pressed several times (I believe there was a number 2 on it, so I guess repeat the song 2 times?). Anyway, why would it press itself on its own?!
  5. So could anyone tell me what's the verdict on this? Is it harmful to fill the gas tank to the brim in Fabia III or not? I've done over 750km now with the 53l fill-up mentioned above, average consumption since the fill-up 5.4l/100km, and I still have about 1/3 of the tank left. Which I'm really happy about, as it means I'll probably be passing 1000km on one tank this time around. I'd love to fill it up to the brim every time if only I knew for sure that it wouldn't have an adverse effect on the car's vapor collection systems and whatnot. It's a lot more convenient making lots of km on a single tank than making more stops at the gas station on the other hand.
  6. Hm, that's like 4.4l/100km, which is quite remarkable. I take it she did no city driving then?
  7. Ok, time to introduce mine as well.. only bought it last month (2nd hand with lots of extras). Fabia III 1.2 Ambition (similar to SE, I guess), TSI 110, 6-speed manual - Pre-22 Week - Metal Gray Color Concept (black roof etc) - 16" Beam Alloys - Front LED Lights - Cornering Fogs - Sun Set (tinted windows from B-pillar) - Rear Parking Sensors - Spare Wheel - Heated Side Mirrors - 4x Electric Windows - Central Armrest - Climatronic - Bolero - Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror - Sports Suspension - Sports Seats - Sports Pedals - 3-spoke Supersport Steering Wheel - Cruise Control + Speed Limiter - Hill Hold - Start-Stop - Front Assist
  8. Wait, what about the little pulsating red light on the driver's side door? I thought that was the alarm indicator?
  9. Yes! I actually just realized it this morning, but thanks for pointing it out. Pretty neat.
  10. Which engine & how many liters did her fillup include?
  11. Yes, of course the real-time display, but still scary when you see it... In Fabia III real-time consumption is labeled on Maxi dot simply as "Consumption", while the other one is labeled "Avg. Consumption Since Start". For avg. consumption since refuelling, though, you need to check Bolero as far as I know. So far I'm doing 5.3l/100km, which is cca. 53.5 mpg.
  12. No problem. I'm getting a 256GB SD card for x-mas so that I can just throw my entire collection on there and have extra space left if needed in the future. I'm just hoping it will work just like the 128GB one does.
  13. Sorry for bringing up an "oldish" thread up again, but I get the same on my Fabia III 1.2 TSI 110... Like, right when I drive off from a stoplight it momentarily jumps to 40.5 l/100km, which equals about 7 mpg and it really makes one cringe. And I have a pretty light foot and shift at around 2k rpm (or slightly less), but it happens regardless! Apparently it's a "feature" of these small turbos - the biggest mpg killer, it seems.
  14. Looks good regardless! Plus the ride will be a tad bit less stiff with regular suspension...
  15. UPDATE: I put 90GB worth of music on my 128GB SD card and this time Bolero seemed to recognize all of it from A-Z! I put over 400 folders (albums) with 10+ songs in each folder + a couple folders with almost 1000 mp3s in each. So apparently the whole trick is really in putting your music in folders with up to 1000 mp3s and there won't be a problem. Which is really good news!
  16. I've got the exact same color Fabia III, except for the mud flaps (which I don't have). I think it looks awesome! (It's just that it might be a bit hotter in the summer with a black roof ). I too have Sunset windows + sports suspension, as well as sports wheel & seats, sports pedals, etc. What other extras do you have?
  17. For example, see this: Lawrence Huddleston, owner of Hud’s Auto Service in Lubbock, Texas, says gas topping can damage your car’s vapor collection system, designed to reduce harmful emissions. Joel Carruso, owner of Caruso’s Auto Repair in Schenectady, New York, adds that these systems manage fuel vapor. Overfilling the gas tank can cause liquid gas to enter the charcoal canister, or carbon filter, which is designed only for vapor. Gas in the system can affect your car’s performance by causing it to run poorly, and damage the engine, he says. http://www.angieslist.com/articles/car-myth-or-fact-should-you-top-your-gas-tank.htm
  18. I did a little bit of research and it seems a lot of people advise against venting it, as it can supposedly have an adverse effect on the evaporative control system and charcoal canister. Is that true?
  19. Thanks, that looks pretty good. Do you happen to have any pics of how it looks on the dash of your car? I see, but sometimes I'd like to use my phone for navigation, so in that case I'd need a phone mount..
  20. Ah, then I guess I won't bother going to great lengths about it, as I can already imagine they won't be willing to do it. I'm not from UK, though, either... Btw, how much does it cost otherwise?
  21. Oh, I see. Do they have orders that they should fit it if a customer demands it, or is it a matter of luck and their good will that they'd do it?
  22. So what other phone mounts do you guys use? I considered for a second Kenu Airframe+, but on second thoughts I realized it wouldn't be a good idea as it would obstruct Bolero + it would be pointed upwards, as the vents themselves are already positioned that way. The only way it would work is if I put it on the driver side window vent, but I find it inconvenient from my seating position - i.e. it's partially obstructed by the wheel plus it would be a pain when you were to charge the phone (the wire)... Any other suggestions? Maybe iOttie?
  23. Hi, I have a pre-week 22 Fabia III. Although the MirrorLink is available in the Bolero menu, it won't recognize my iPhone 6 when I plug it in (it says something like "USB not recognized"). So the final verdict is that there is no way to activate MirrorLink on these pre-week 22 Fabias and the only solution is to have Bolero replaced with Kenwood? If so, would I still have to pay a portion of the costs if the dealer were to replace it?
  24. Which of the tweaks can be done for free? I've been through all the settings on my Bolero but are there some hidden options one could enable without buying any equipment?
