  1. @Bap33thank you for this, really detailed and very easy to follow! I had a 24mm socket that has a 22mm hex end on it, which allowed a 22mm ring spanner to slacken the filter housing enough to undo it by hand, without needing to take out the battery. Doing it in winter, even keeping the oil in the house before putting it in the car, it took about an hour to get the oil up to temperature. Not a job to do if you're in a hurry. I refitted the old drain bolt and crush washer to do the warm up and after the levelling draining was done, fitted to the new bolt/washer so the new washer was only being crushed once.
  2. @JK7 thank you! I'll get it changed this week 🤞
  3. Sorry for digging this old thread up, but did you have any further issues @JK7? My car is now having an intermittent stutter, but was noticably bad tonight. Thanks
  4. Genuinely amazed at how the car felt. Was deliberately aiming at defects in the road and it just glided over them. Could only hear the cats eyes, coudn't feel them.
  5. Fitted my Koni's yesterday, wow, what a difference! I've only done a 12 mile test run but the car felt so good. Just need to sort a wheel alignment now.
  6. Ok, that's more reassuring. I do an 80 mile a day commute and I don't want a rock hard ride. Happy with taught but don't want it crashing over every ripple. Thanks for the update
  7. I'm quite concerned by that. Other reviews have said good balance between taught and comfort. It's why I went for a Superb over an Octavia VRS. Might have to send the shocks back and stick with stock 😞
  8. Hello! Was taking my car in for MOT this morning and one of the front springs broke clean in half 🤧 I've got a 150 diesel front wheel drive. As the Koni shocks seem to work with the Sportline springs, and the shocks are the same for all varients of the Superb, does that mean I can fit Sportline springs to my 150? Thanks!
  9. I only took one photo. Having now done it, I'd be happy writing a How To the next time I do one. Having the workshop manual is a must, and having the quick release tool for the diesel pipes would have made the jon much easier, which I didn't have.
  10. Today I replaced the timing belt, water pump, idlers, aux belt, coolant bottle and coolant. Very satisfying once it was finished and the engine was running. That first start up is always tense! Anyone attempting yourself, the top belt cover is a pig to get off, clearly designed to be fitted as the engine was being built, not to be messed about with afterwards.
  11. I just replaced by timing belt, tensioner, idlers, water pump, aux belt, coolant bottle (non silicate bag) and coolant today. Car is a 2 litre TDI 150, 5.5 years old with 64k on the clock (I've owned since new) and I'm glad I did as the belt was not in a good state. Scores and cracks evident. Don't put it off! If you are doing it yourself, good luck getting the top belt cover off and on, that was the hardest part of the job by miles. Engine so much smoother now. The OE belt timing belt was Dayco, OE aux belt was Continental.
  12. Skoda tried to make the coolant 'for life'. If you replace the coolant every 5 years when you do the timing belt you don't need to worry. G13 has since been replaced with G12evo and there's no G13 marking on the new expansion tank.
  13. The latest version is 5Q0121407M. Don't understand the VAG lettering but I got mine from TPS last week. I'll be changing mine when I drain the coolant to do with the timing belt. The one in my car is the double walled version so no easy way to get the bag out.
  14. Went out to the car for another look. For anyone else who's trying to work this out, shine a torch down the side of the engine and if you've stopped the engine in just the right place, you'll be able to see the code on the belt. In my case, it 04L 260 849 C so it's the 1025mm belt.
  15. Hello all, I'm due to change my timing belt in my 2016 Superb with the CRLB engine (150TDI with DSG), so I'm going to do the alternator belt whilst I'm at it, as I need to remove it anyway. There is a 1025mm and a 1028mm belt option for my car. Is there an easy way of knowing which is fitted to the car without taking the wheel off, wheel arch liner out and trying to get the code off the belt? Thanks in advance.
