  1. How much did you put in and what grade was it?
  2. It sounds like your dampers are getting tired. Bas reported his standard ones were knackered a while back. The ride quality is getting harsh on my 04 vrs with 48k but I've got Eibach springs and I think they have killed the OEM dampers.
  3. The Manifold Inn at Hulme End is nice. They are car club friendly and were keen to have us last time I asked. Some nice roads on the way over there too.
  4. I would agree with that, we've had 2 1.2 16v's and never had a problem. They are good value (especially when bought pre-registered), frugal and very easy to sell-on when you've done with them.
  5. I would go with another pair of Conti's or the Goodyears as mentioned above. Speaking from my own experience, I would stay away from Toyo's that seem to get recommended on here a lot. I've had a set on for 10k now and while they may be fine in the warm and dry, they are next to useless in the grease and damp conditions of autumn and winter. They even lack low speed bite in the dry.
  6. The Octy is a different chassis to the Fabia and I think the bushes are in a different orientation, an easier job IIRC.
  7. You're welcome to borrow my set. You can collect from my workplace. We are 5 mins from M1 J27. Drop me a pm if you are interested
  8. October is best for me. Give me a shout Rob if you need a hand with anything.
  9. I would still go for the Cupra bushes just from the longevity aspect although standard ones will be much easier to fit. If the front bushes look ok I would leave them alone. I have a set of washers for pulling in the new bushes but I am in Nottingham, although I do get as far a Matlock Bath quite regularly for a bag of chips.
  10. Yes it will fit. There was a guy at the last Awesome rolling road day with one fitted to 1.4 TDi but I can't remember his name.
  11. I run to zero on the miles left, zero the trip and ussually do another 10 miles as long as I'm in a familiar area.
  12. That does look like lubrication failure, either as said before, the wrong oil grade or low oil pressure again. Have you checked the oil pressure with a trusted gauge John? Most independant garages I've dealt with don't have a clue about the special oil requirements of a PD motor and just want to use an oil of the correct viscosity but, as mentioned above, it's the special addatives in PD oil that help the cam cope with the massive loads generated by the PD pumps. I don't think cam change is that different to most engines other than resetting the cam to PD pump clearances. Good luck with it, you must be due for a run of good luck soon.
  13. A couple of pictures of the problem area and my solution (a small fuel line clip)
  14. Jesus . Glad you're ok. You want to make sure you claim for a change of underwear aswell.
  15. I'd be up for another meet at the Bull. Great food and nice surroundings.
  16. No difference at all except in the looks department
  17. I think mine was the first on a black Fabia. There are some photos on the second Cat and Fiddle meet in early 2005.
  18. You can't go wrong with Hobao and Hong Nor products. Great performance and value with a great spares backup at reasonable prices. We have sold many Hobao Hyper 7 and 8 kits with minimal problems. The Hong Nor CRT Truggies are excellent aswell. As mentioned previously, the HPI Savage is also a great all rounder. Have a look at the shop:- Microtech Racing - RC Cars, Trucks and Buggies
  19. 505.01 is the correct oil for a fixed service PD diesel like yours. I use Fuchs from Oilman on this forum, Quantum (VW's own brand) is obviously good aswell and a lot of owners on here rate Millers XFE-PD as a cheaper option. They've all been tested to the correct spec and will be fine with Millers offering the best value for money. HTH
  20. Take a look here - http://briskoda.net/forums/technical-guides/fabia-wishbone-bush-replacement-diy-guide/101781/
  21. It's a one owner car that's only done 6000 miles. It's never been used intentionally in the wet and last got wet in 1996 when caught out in a storm. It goes on blocks over winter between november and April to avoid the dreaded salt. Until I bought it from the original owner (an 86 year old lady) it had never been used in the dark either, so the headlamps pop up once a year for it's MOT. It is one of only a handfull of known X1/9's with zero rust and my pride and joy. Just a shame it's not a 1300 model with the tiny quarter bumpers as Bertone intended and not these huge American spec alluminium monstrosities.
  22. The large black socket is 1.5" bought when I had Rover V8's and a man needed a proper socket set . Using one of the spacers and an offcut of largish tube would be ok. Where are you based? If you leave a deposit you can borrow the gear.
  23. What a pointless thread. It looks to me like a thinly veiled attempt to see how much you can snipe at each other without getting a ban. :( Can't we just enjoy the forum and our cars. Bear in mind guy's, this must look cr*p to a first time visiter looking for information on their Fabia. The sooner this is locked, the better. In the mean time feel free to flame away.
  24. I've had the same problem myself, although it was on a hatchback model. The joint is located at the passenger side of the rear seat under the black trim over the wheel arch. Snap the fitting back together and secure it using an 8mm fuel line clip. See the pics below. Sorry about the cr4p picture quality
