  1. I've had two dealings with Arbury Skoda in Leamington...

    December 09

Bought my current (soon to be replaced) Octavia used from here. The sales guy was really good - wish I could remember his name - spent time with me, happily took me out for a test drive right there and then and spent a good couple of hours with me overall. No pressure, even when I said I had some other garages to look at (was deciding between an Octavia and Mondeo at the time). Ended up going back the next day to put a deposit down. He got things sorted quickly and I picked the car up a few days later, earlier than he'd originally suggested as he rescheduled some of the jobs that needed sorting before handing over. Couldn't have been happier. Got in touch a few times over the first couple of years to see if I was looking to upgrade, but wasn't wanting to at the time.

Ok, so the Octavia ended up staying with me much longer than intended! However, now in a position to buy a Superb my first choice was to head to Arbury again. Entirely different experience this time, I'm sorry to say. Went in as a genuine customer looking to start the ordering process (I knew what it wanted having thoroughly researched) and spoke to a sales guy. Told him what I was looking for and he ran a finance quote or two buy was making no real effort to try and meet what I was after - no attempt to change deposit, even when I said I could put a larger deposit down. He then tried to sell me a used Superb Mk2 when I'd already made pretty clear that I wanted a new car, mainly because it's actually cheaper on finance to do that. He gave up on the Superb pretty quickly, less than 15 mins on that I'd say and he then spent quite a while trying to sell me an Octavia instead! I ended up walking away, saying I wanted to give it some thought, just to get away.

Shame, after my initial great experience some years ago, but I won't be going back there in a hurry. Ended up going through carwow and saw someone else had posted a review which was pretty much identical to my experience. I can only assume they are currently on more commission or something for selling Octavias! Customer lost though as my Superb is now on order form Listers Coventry.

  2. My car came with factory fitted HBA (and the A5) and electric drivers seat, and I´ve succesfully coded Lane Assist. So you don´t need an electric passenger seat for that :)

Excellent! I'll be calling the dealer later today then and seeing if I can get TSR added on. Only ordered on Thursday so hopefully won't be a problem - got to be worth a try...

  3. TSR work and can be ordered only if you have navigation, so imho its not a win-win combination

Not a problem, the SE L trim comes with navigation as standard.

In theory it should be correct.

But it can happen that modules in the new car are changed (especially taking into account soon to be model year change) and it could not be activated any more.

My suggestion: if somebody really wants or needs a function, to order it from the factory if he is not a gambler :).

Good points. I don't need either, but they're nice extras to have, if they're cheap. I wouldn't dream of spending £850 on lane assist, but if £85 gets the necessary physical equipment (the camera) and I stand a chance of getting a nice expensive option for nothing, then it seems like a gamble worth taking. :)

In theory, yes. But I can only speak for my car. No matter what, I would order the cheapest option giving the A5 camera (Lane Assist, High Beam Assist, Smart Light Assist or Traffic Sign Recognition). Having the camera is mandatory to get it working :)

Thanks. I agree, as I said above it seems worth a shot for £85!

    Lane assist £850

    Light assist £250

    TSR £85 <----- cheapest by a lot :)

    Thanks for the replies all!

One potential issue that's just occurred to me. These options all say they are only available with electrically adjustable seats - does that mean they will work with just the drivers seat (standard on SE L) or do you also need the front passenger seat to be electrically adjustable too (expensive option on SE L)?

  4. Yes, Lane Assist can be activated with VCDS IF you have the camera (A5) in the front window (used for High Beam Assist and/or Traffic Sign Recognition).

So if you order TSR (£85 option in UK) you can activate lane assist (£850 option on SE L) through VCDS? That seems crazy, am I misunderstanding something? (I am new here!)

If that's right, I need to contact my dealer and get TSR added on...

  5. You're very welcome to the forum.  The wait can be difficult but should be well worth it though.  At least you'll have plenty of time to read the manual and all the opinions from owners on here :)

Thanks. Already working my way through all things Superb 3 related! This will be the first new car I've ever ordered/owned so it's all new to me - good fun though :)

  6. I found carwow to be brilliant for this. Not face to face, so hard for them to play games and I was able to get my local dealership to take another grand off their already discounted price because a dealer in Lincoln made a much better offer to me, and I had it in black and white.

It was also great that you can just make new car builds, adding different options and seeing what comes back to you. I'd thoroughly recommend carwow.co.uk, but I guess by now you may already have purchased.

  7. Just thought I'd say hello now I've registered here.

Actually popped on here quite a few times over the last few years thanks to Google searches relating to my mk2 Octavia 1.9TDI Elegance, but never got around to registering but now here I am!

Have just ordered a Superb III 2.0TDI SE L Exec hatch in black magic with pegasus wheels and a couple of small extras... now it's the agonising wait until July/August when it finally arrives!
