  1. Hope to pick up my new TFSI estate in the next couple of weeks and have a couple of queries: 1) In the good ole days, after a hard run, petrol turbo engines had to be allowed to idle for a few minutes before turning off (something to do with oil in the turbo bearings?) al la Renault 5 Turbo - is this true of the TFSI engine? 2) Will I get a seven foot by one foot long door in the boot without it sticking out the back? Cheers R
  2. Fantatsic pictures. My dad had a 120L ('A'-reg) that used to vibrate at 45MPH, but then traded up to a beige 130LSE replete with vinyl roof - I remember he overtook an XR3i going up hill one day - proudest day of my life it was :-) Do you have any pics of the sport model Skoda did (only available in white)? Cheers
  3. Parker's has a very good selection of vRS pics, both for hatch and estate. Just search for Skoda under 'Reviews'.
  4. That is what I originally thought, but looking at the T&C's on the back of the order form, the dealer can pass on any increase, but, if they do, then I can cancel within 14 days and get my deposit back. 1% isn't a huge amount but when you have worked hard to get the price down to an acceptable level it does feel like an easy way for the dealer to get back some of that money I thought I would be saving .
  5. Hi, Happy New Year to everybody. I notice from the SUK website that Octavia prices increased by 1% on New Year's day :thumbdwn: . I placed my order for a vRS in November and am expecting delivery in Feb - do Skoda dealers generally pass on these increases for cars already ordered, or do they tend to absorb the increaces themselves? Thanks R
  6. 6-8 weeks sounds like a very good lead-time for a factory order. I placed my order last week for a vRS estate with a few extras and was quoted 12 weeks delivery. This means that it would be delivered during the latter half of February, so I got the dealer to delay delivery until the 1st March. BTW - although the Skoda UK website suggests free 3-years servicing for cars delivered by 31 Dec, my local dealer says that this will be extended into next year, hence I also get the free servicing deal with mine. R
  7. Hi all, As promised, I popped into my local dealer the other day and took out an Octavia VRS (petrol) for a couple of hours and came away with one on order. I paid £18.8k for an estate with the following (metallic paint, dual climate, 18" wheels, cruise, maxidot, light assist, curtain bags and active headrestraints). Even though the car won't be delivered until the 1st March, I will also get 3 years free servicing and not fogetting the all important 'free' boot liner! I decided to go with the dealer even though he was £400 more than DTD - primarily because he was a nice guy :-) and DTD couldn't offer the 3 years servicing, so in all it was probably a better deal than DTD. I guess the next 12 weeks or so will drag now though...
  8. Thanks all. I have tried to find reviews on the 'net about all of these companies, but am always a bit sceptical when I only see positive reviews! I'm off to my local dealer shortly, to see what they can offer. I'll keep you posted as to what I decide to do. Cheers R
  9. Hi to all. I'm looking to take my first step as a Skoda owner (having owned VW's in the past), and have my eye on a new Octavia vRS estate (petrol). I want to get the car for the best price possible and have seen good deals on the following sites: Drivethedeal.com Broadspeed.com autoebid.com Has anybody used these brokers - if so, are they to be recomended? I think my main concern is that none of the suppliing dealers are near to where I live (west surrey). Thanks in advance and apologies is this has been posted in the wrong forum.
