  1. Well, uninstalling the old cable took a lot longer than installing the new one. 😀
  2. Thanks, hopefully my local garage can do that. I'll sort the fuse first though. 😀 I couldn't get it out of the plug so had to put it all back in. I'm getting an OBD cable to power the new one. 😀
  3. So, I am possibly a complete idiot, but it's come round to uninstalling this dashcam, I unplugged the plug from the fusebox, got an airbag error! It must be me unplugging it surely, as it's a bit of a coincidence otherwise, but surely I didn't wire it to the airbag fuse? I've plugged it back in but the error is still there.
  4. I got a letter from my local garage detailing the problem. Got fobbed off by customer services so I wrote to head office titled "letter before action" and got a cheque for the full amount. And that was before all the other cases, so it looks even more like a manufacturing issue now it's happened over and over.
  5. I'm not sure they entirely knew. They changed the resistor and it still didn't work the first time they had it. But before they fitted the new one they stripped it all down, cleaned it up, redid the connections and it did work so they refitted it.
  6. Good news, the old fan works! That saved me a couple of hundred quid.
  7. Happy to report no petrol smell this morning. It possibly was partly caused by starting up and immediately getting stuck at the entrance of the garage for ages due to traffic. I think if I'd pulled straight out I wouldn't have noticed anything. I did notice when clearing out the embarrassingly large amount of litter in my glovebox that there was a black rubber seal lying around in there. I wonder if they assumed I would be leaving it and then when I said I needed it at the crack of dawn they threw enough of it back together that I could take it.
  8. Mine left a trail like that to the next village! I got my repair (done by local garage not dealer) reimbursed by Skoda. Had to write them a letter before action and then they paid up. We were a few months out of warranty btw.
  9. It's been serviced pretty recently including all the filters and the timing belt. The smell was not there when I left the car with them, and dispersed once we'd managed to pull out of the garage into traffic. Hence I am assuming they have removed some panels beyond what I can see?
  10. Reminds me of the smell you'd get with the choke right out in the old days. I assume smells pass through the missing panel and no blower to diffuse it. God knows why they left it like that, I told them I needed it tomorrow and the fan isn't due in till then. Ex demo car, 400ish miles when bought, 60k more since.
  11. Does explain the intense petrol smell on starting though!
  12. Other than that they went in through the side and haven't attached the glove box properly, I'm not sure you can see much? Maybe half was an overstatement. 😀 They have disconnected or turned off the passenger airbag too.
  13. My car has come come back with half the dash parts not attached cos it wasn't worth putting it all back in till the replacement arrived, I think it's a time consuming job!
  14. So, according to the garage the whole fan has given up and needs replacing.
  15. 2016 colour edition. I didn't try changing the fuse as the book suggested the same fuse ran the air con, and that seems to be working. I popped into the garage and the first thing they asked is whether it worked on 4. 😀
