  1. I wasn't sure about mine, I would always brake before it kicked in. Then the other day I happened to be following another Fabia when it slammed on the brakes to turn off. I'm thinking why on earth is my car beeping at me, and it was the front assist warning.
  2. My final balloon is in the region of 4.3-4.5k. At two years, I was offered 4 as a trade in. I don't know if the values will improve once brand new ones don't get cheap tax any more?
  3. I don't know if it's different if you're looking at the same make of car, but I had an Up that I was looking to trade in for a Fabia. Even having put down a £2750 deposit initially, and it being two years old, I would've had to pay the garage to take it off my hands. They wanted to load what was needed on top of the trade in value to pay off the finance onto the top of a new finance deal. They seemed really surprised that I preferred to return it to VW!
  4. I don't have the quotes to hand to check, but I had the opposite when looking at Fabias, they were more expensive if you just wanted to buy one with actual money.
  5. I think ours was a red connector, but where the fuse end joins the power cable. I don't think we made life easy for ourselves as we threaded the bottom half through past the fuse box then did it up on the other side. Neither of us had small enough hands to get the tape round it I don't think I would've managed without the instructions, I was a bit wary of pulling to pieces a car I've only had a week. A plastic filler spatula is great for levering edges.
  6. The most difficult part was getting the fuse out! No idea if it is because they're brand new, but it wouldn't shift. We put the connector behind the trim panel, I'm now wondering if it should've gone on the fusebox side in case it works loose. We could barely get it done up in the gap behind the panel, so I'm suddenly wondering if it was meant to be the other side!
  7. Tiny bit of cable showing at the top of the screen, it just didn't want to go in. Excess cable. And stuffed in the gap...
  8. All done, thank you Not nearly as professional looking as the photos above, but it works! Top of screen, left a little slack in case I move it slightly. Fuse box, I couldn't see any holes except where the cover hooks in, so we undid it quite a long way to push the cable through.... hope that looks ok.
  9. Thanks. I can't find any tubing locally, I'm thinking do I wait, or do I just go without.
  10. That's brilliant, thankyou! Only questions so far are, is it possible for me to get the fuses the wrong way round, or is it literally a case of putting the one from the car in an empty gap? And would you know of anywhere in the high street that might have the tubing, as I'm going shopping tomorrow anyway?
  11. What worries me with doing that is I've gone from a car without a permanent live socket to one with. So I'll forget to unplug it and either flatten the battery or wipe over footage I wanted
  12. I was just wondering if anyone has used this kit, and how easy it is for a total novice with basically no tools? I know where the fuse box is, am fairly sure I can feed the cable under the black edge up the side of the car as I did that with the lighter socket one, and vaguely get the fuse thing. Mainly, I'm not sure about what to use as an earth point, whether I'll need to take anything off to get the cable from the fuse box to the edge of the car, and which fuse is best (maybe an empty one I can use?). Any advice or even telling me I should get a professional gratefully received. The car is practically brand new.
  13. Mine's going next Thursday. My new car's here already, so the sooner the better
  14. The total amount payable is defined in my agreement as advance payment, amount of credit, acceptance fee, interest and option to purchase fee. That is what you're halving.
  15. After my deposit, I only borrowed 7.5k, but my VT point was around 5k, so I'm sure it's half of the initial total.
  16. No, because it's half of the total amount due. Say you bought a 10k car, and there was £200 interest. Total due would be £10200. Half that would be £5100. Then deduct your deposit and any monthly payments.
  17. I would think month 34, depending on whether you count the Skoda deposit contribution or not. Take the total cost at the bottom, half it, deduct the deposits, then divide it by the amount paid each month... I make it 33.3.
  18. The termination amount is listed in the original agreement. It's half of the total amount due including deposit and interest I believe.
  19. PCP works if you're not planning on keeping it long term. If I give mine back after three years, VW takes the hit on the extra depreciation. If I kept it though, I do.
  20. The furthest I ever pushed it was 468.00 miles with a refill of 32.441 litres.
  21. On my Up, each quarter is pretty much a hundred miles, but the gauge doesn't move at all for the first hundred miles, so around 500. I've never run it to empty though. I've tracked almost every fill up on Fuelly and averaged 61.3 mpg over two years.
  22. They didn't say much except it would be inspected, it just seems too easy so far. The dealer I'm getting my next car from is arranging the scratch repair far cheaper than the one I bought the Up from quoted, it's down to the plastic on the bumper so unavoidable really. Last time I park next to a shop door instead of the far end!
  23. Just wondering if they've collected yours yet and what the process is like, how thorough they are, etc? I just VTed my two year old Up after finding out it won't be worth anything near the final payment. I'm getting a supermarket car park scratch fixed on the bumper and have cleaned the seats, but not sure if I should do much more. And do they actually bill the excess mileage? I'm only about 5k over. Thanks.
