Fuel consumption
Hi all, looking for some advice.... My 05' Fab Vrs 1.9tdi (ASZ eng) appears to be using more fuel than I expected. I have carried out 2 x full to full fuel tank refuels and I have calculated it is doing 32mpg under steady, mixed driving. This appears a lot lower than I expected. It's done just over 100k and has full service history, and runs very well. Engine is completely standard as far as I'm aware. The only issue I have noticed is that is chucks out a lot of black smoke when under full throttle and has done for 6 years of ownership. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. TIA

Rear wheel bearing advice?
I've bought the correct hub nut socket and have a torque wrench to refit it. Thank you for the torque setting and your reply. I'll give it a go!

Rear wheel bearing advice?
Great stuff. Thank you very much for the reply. The NSR was done by a garage a couple of years back. I'll attempt the OSR myself though. Appreciate your help.

Rear wheel bearing advice?
Hi Guys, I am just about to attempt a OSR wheel bearing replacement on my 55 Reg Vrs. Will I need a hub puller to remove the hub from the stub axle? Do they usually seize on? Anything I need to consider before I attempt this? Many thanks.

Boost leak advice
Great, thanks for the advice. I'll spray some soapy water around the joints to see if I can pin it down. I can see oil coming from the lower intercooler pipe so this might be a good place to start.

Boost leak advice
Hi Folks. I know this has been covered many times but I have what I think is a boost leak which I'm presuming is usual work boost pipe connection issue? I get a prominent whistle as the the turbo comes in and horrific black smoke when you apply full throttle. What's the best way to go about this? Can all boost pipes be easily replaced. Is there a cost effective way to do this? It has done just over 100k with full history of oil changes, etc. 05 plate Fab Vrs ASZ engine code. Many thanks in advance.

Woo woo sound from the rear
Update as promised.... I have replaced the OSR brake caliper but unfortunately the 'mooing' noise is still there from the OSR wheel. I can only think it is the wheel bearing as I've tried swoping wheel around as well.

Woo woo sound from the rear
I have exactly the same noise you describe and above 30mph. It's been like this for a couple of years now. Mine is defo coming from the OSR and initially I thought it was a wheel bearing but recently I discovered my OSR caliper is binding slightly due to a seized caliper piston. I'm just about to replace the caliper so I'll report back if the noise disappears once replaced? I have a feeling the slight bind is what's causing the 'mooing' noise?

Rear caliper advice
Update.... I'm now looking to replace the drivers side rear caliper complete. (The passenger rear is working well) Could anyone offer advice on if I should buy a genuine refurbed caliper or are the cheaper eBay calipers okay. (Obviously they are cheaper and this is my preffered option) Appreciate any advice.

Rear caliper advice
Hi all, I've decided to refurb the old calipers as the sliders are free, it's just the piston rubber that is split. I've bought a piston kit from Biggred that includes all the seals. I'm in the process of removing the caliper now which is fairly straightforward but I can't seem to Clamp the brakehose off to stop the fluid dripping out. I have a brake pipe clamp which is not doing the job and I need to have the caliper removed from the vehicle for an hour is so to work on it. Any ideas?

Rear caliper advice
Thanks. Yes I'll go ahead with the standard Vrs calipers. I wondered what the actual green Vrs colour was so that's helpful. Many thanks.

Rear caliper advice
Thanks for the replies. I've just upgraded the front to the 312mm discs, calipers and braided lines, but have noticed the rear calipers are binding. Initially I was looking to strip and replace seals etc but it looks like reconditioned caliper are reasonably cheap and I didn't know if was worth upgrading whilst doing this job?

Rear caliper advice
Hi Folks. The time has come to replace the rear brake calipers on my Fabia vrs 1.9tdi. I'm told that I can fit the same size replacement calipers but with the bigger 41mm pistons, in way of an upgrade? Would anyone be able to offer any advice regarding this. Many thanks.

Vrs Drivers seat foam advice
Brilliant, thanks DieselMonte that's great. Sounds to be well within my skills to do this and will hopefully preserve the existing drivers seat cover. Appreciate your advice. Thanks Nige8021 for the socket link.

Vrs Drivers seat foam advice
Thank you. I'll do that as the passenger side is perfect. When you say 'split the seat' and 'triple square socket' what do you mean by this please?

Vrs Drivers seat foam advice
Sorry to pick up on this thread again. DieselMonte... Did you just remove both seat foams/covers and swop drivers to passengers complete? If so, how hard/easy is this to do? Thanks.

Vrs Rear bumper help!
Thanks Vindaloo, this is exactly what's happened. I removed the bumper and separated the two halves. I painstakingly removed all the bonding and refitted the two halves together but it will still not fit properly. (Lugs won't fit into the locations as the the lower section is too low/tight) Not sure what the answer is apart from a new bumper? Both section have Skoda VW part numbers so look genuine. 🤔

Vrs Rear bumper help!
Great. Thanks guys I will do this. I wasn't sure if the lower part was just an external spoiler..

Vrs Rear bumper help!
Hi All. My Fab Vrs rear bumper has an unsightly gap between the upper and lower sections of the rear bumper. I looks like the lower section clips into the top section half way up the bumper but mine doesn't seem to want to fit far enough upwards to clip into the top section, hence the gap. Does anyone know how these sections fit together, can they be adjusted or are they bonded together? I need to try and find an answer as it's been like this for some time and I'd like to get it sorted. Any advice appreciated.

Vrs Drivers seat foam advice
Oh that's, a shame the part is not available. If I managed to find a decent passenger seat foam from a Vrs would this fit the drivers side? Thanks.
