  1. Yes I did consider the Billies'. Many thanks for the reply.
  2. 🤣 Not sure what you mean!! I like to keep her rolling without spending too much. (Within reason) The KYB's sound like a good option. Thanks. 😊
  3. Thanks for the reply but as a pair, add shipping and thats not that great. They don't appear to ship to the UK apparently! Would normal VRS (Aftermarket) shocks cope with the uprated suspension?
  4. Morning Folks. I own a 2005 Fab Vrs and have an AP 25mm lowered suspension kit fitted. I have a leaking NSR shock and need to replace it but am having trouble locating a matched AP replacement that isn't a fortune to import. Can I fit a standard VRS shock ie will it be 'man' enough to handle sports suspension and if so any recommendations on make/type that won't break the bank? TIA
  5. Thanks for the reply Vindaloo. The hose that fits into the turbo is quite loose inside the turbo housing and the lower hose that fits into the intercooler, the tab is worn through, so I am replacing these hoses with some 'ebay specials'. They appear half decent quality and easy enough to fit. Hopefully this will solve my issue and fingers crossed, improve my mpg.
  6. Thank you Sepulchrave. I was thinking to go this way but thought I should check before making a mistake.
  7. Hi all. I am looking to replace the 4 x intercooler/turbo boost hoses on my 55 reg Fabia Vrs, ASZ engine. (The hoses are a little worn and the pipe connector into the turbo is loose inside the housing) My question is...which hoses should I purchase? Would cheaper ebay hoses suffice or would it be worth shelling out on a set of silicon hoses such as the Creation Motorsport hoses? The car is standard and has a standard SMIC. Thank you. 😊
  8. Okay great. Thanks DieselMonte. I will have a look at this. Appreciate your reply.
  9. Thank you very much for the replies everyone. I guess that answers my question... I don't fancy cutting the bumper return lip the make these fit so it will stay as it is!
  10. Thanks for the prompt reply Sepulchrave. I think I may have found a set of old stock, but I'm not sure if they fit the Vrs? I'm after the part no. so I can check this. Thanks.
  11. Apologies if this has been asked before but I can't find the answer..... Would anyone know the Skoda part no. for rear mudflaps for a Fabia Vrs 2005? TIA.
  12. Just an update on the fuel consumption issue..... I have fitted a MAF sensor (Bosch) and the smoking issue, under hard acceleration, which has always been an issue, has disappeared completely. Also the fuel economy has come back. I also seems to run a lot better. Thank you for your advice.
  13. Rear brake calipers are fairly new as are the front. (312mm front brake upgrade done recently) so brake are all nice and free. Thanks.
  14. Again thanks for the replies.... I realise short journeys are going to reduce the Mpg but it is mainly dual carriageway work so I guess it's not too bad. Oil and filter changed every 6 - 8 months and air/fuel filters changed around a Yr ago. I have gradually noticed a drop in mpg over a couple of yrs and I suppose but doing the tank to tank test has confirmed its fairly low mpg. I'll go for the Bosch MAF as you recommend as I think it's worth paying the extra for peice of mind, it's such a great car. Thanks for all your help, I'll crack on and replace the Maf and see how things are after.
  15. Thanks for the replies. Yes, the boost leak was my first port of call but I haven't found any issues with the pipes although I had considered replacing them just to be sure. (Expensive business) The car does shortish journeys but is driven gently and mostly dual carriageway to work and back. Consumption issue has got gradually worse, although its stating 44mpg on the dash but I'm defo only getting around 32mpg. Ref the Maf sensor....Can I get away with an aftermarket part or is genuine recommended?
  16. That's brilliant, thank you. I hadn't even considered this as the cause. I'll replace this as soon as I can purchase the part. Many thanks. Appreciate your help.
  17. Thanks for your response Sepulchrave. Is the MAF sensor easy to do and why does it cause these issue? Thanks.
  18. Hi all, looking for some advice.... My 05' Fab Vrs 1.9tdi (ASZ eng) appears to be using more fuel than I expected. I have carried out 2 x full to full fuel tank refuels and I have calculated it is doing 32mpg under steady, mixed driving. This appears a lot lower than I expected. It's done just over 100k and has full service history, and runs very well. Engine is completely standard as far as I'm aware. The only issue I have noticed is that is chucks out a lot of black smoke when under full throttle and has done for 6 years of ownership. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. TIA
  19. I've bought the correct hub nut socket and have a torque wrench to refit it. Thank you for the torque setting and your reply. I'll give it a go!
  20. Great stuff. Thank you very much for the reply. The NSR was done by a garage a couple of years back. I'll attempt the OSR myself though. Appreciate your help.
  21. Hi Guys, I am just about to attempt a OSR wheel bearing replacement on my 55 Reg Vrs. Will I need a hub puller to remove the hub from the stub axle? Do they usually seize on? Anything I need to consider before I attempt this? Many thanks.
  22. Great, thanks for the advice. I'll spray some soapy water around the joints to see if I can pin it down. I can see oil coming from the lower intercooler pipe so this might be a good place to start.
