  1. so whats gonna happen to the car, you floggin it on or keeping it?

nice work btw, you'd get on well with my mate tel. hes currently swopping the knackered v6 in my gsi for another block. within 4 hours he had the whole front end off and hanging on a crane ready for stripping!

My mate is using it as a run around for abit. then prolly flog it on at a profit.

Would have had it stripped and rebuilt in a weekend but we had to wait for parts like the clutch and belts etc.

Nice engine to work on the vag 20v turbo. Nice and straight forward

  2. Nice mate, not heard of any PD130's hitting below 14's before, what times did the jabba fabia run with more power/torque?

It had more JABBA power ;) mine had proper power and 382lbft.

It also had a peloquin diff which helped. That said I could never replicate that result. I got a couple of 14, deads that day but only one 13.9. Must have been the wind that helped me

  3. If you can do this kinda stuff, how about getting a petrol fabia and stuffing a fettled 1.8T in it??

    That would be interesting eh?

    Bas

This all easy peasy stuff though. disconnecting stuff and taking bolts out is easy.

When doing actual engine conversions it starts to get a little harder with fabricating parts etc. The actual fabrication wouldnt be a problem.... I work in engineering so could design and make the stuff fairly easy..

Its just cost that comes in to it.... the question that needs to be answered is why bother when you go out and buy an ibiza cupra and that already has a 20vt in it.

I could see the advantages of using the fabia..... they dont look fast and not many people expect to be wasted by a 1.2 6v fabia

  4. just had a quick look on ebay and there are 2(both AGU) with opening bids of £50+£20 delivery and very little interest and 2 days to run. does £100 delivered(as long as its not crazy) sound alright? thats 1/4 of your engine money back :D

    Sounds Ok that mate,

Havent managed to get the head off completely, I want to get the engine up and running first before parting with any spares.... but ill keep you in mind for the head at that

  5. Well here we go again.

Take one audi A3 1998 1.8 20v turbo sport, bought for 800 with a knocking engine.

Then add one second hand engine for 450, and you have one hell of a cheap car.

Started at 2:30 today and by 4:00 had the whole engine out and then proceeded to swap the ancillarys over.

Heres the problem, the pick up pipe on the oil pump had blocked (common problem i think) this starved the engine of oil and the crank is now very scored indeed. The head looks fine but ill give it a strip and a check later on, so if anyone wants a large port head? i have one here

    The scoring on the crank

This really shocked me, the car had a nice knocking noise when changing gear........ turns out the gearbox mount had come loose and was on the last few threads

  6. why not get your golf on the road and do something mad with that?

keep with the times  the golf has moved on now  Although I did sell it to Ruku the other night for a £10 when i was wasted

I am still drawn to the tuscan but as of yet I cant get quotes for them :(

    still only a young un.

I have found the perfect monster too

2005 05 Lotus Exige Touring Coupe Just 14k & FLSH on eBay, also, Lotus, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 02-Oct-08 15:34:14 BST)

  7. I was passed by a rather sexy AC Cobra replica on the motorway (there are many terrible ones too) Reg no V8 NOS. I can't think of much that would turn heads more than a nice AC

The dax cobra kits are about 15-18k and when done sell for around 26k

Its just finding the engines thats the problem in this country. Looked at them and I am indeed very interested

Too much to choose from :(
