  1. Just in case it helps anyone in the future…

OK, didn’t want to tempt fate before my NCT (MOT) today, but it passed without any sign of the Diesel particulate icon lighting up !!

Shortly after the problem started I took it to the local dealer who did the obligatory computer diagnostic and reset.  I haven’t had the problem since.

  2. 2016 Yeti 2lt.

Just driven 300 km on a motorway, majority of time @100kmh.  After 200 km the diesel particulate icon came on.  Thought it was a bit strange considering the distance at 100 km.  Cycled through the display to show the adblue range which showed 5500km, odd as I hadn’t top up for months.  Got home and pondered, I’ll check the Adblue level. I was able to add about 1.5 ltrs. I don’t know if the Adblue story is relevant or not.  Recently had a new battery, I think without issues.

Been out for another “fast” drive but icon still on.  Any advice before I take it in.

  3. @toot service was just fluids and look see/test drive.  I checked the air filter and looks ok.

@Vroooom  I think your diagnosis fits my latest symptoms.  Bitter cold, foggy morning, car started but seemed slower to turn over.  Drove to town with lights, heater, air con, back window heater on.  The air con started turning itself off.  I could turn it back on for a few minutes then it would go off.  etc. Revs are still at 1000.   Anyway a battery check plus wing mirror at my garage a a couple of days.

    Thanks everyone..

  4. Varooom,  Urrell thanks for the mirror reply, hadn't realised it was as simple and didn't think of youtube.

Revs are constant at start up and idle, engine is not on regen. Taking foot of accelerator at 50 Kph (30mph) the car just keeps on trundling along.  I'm wondering if its associated with the cold weather as Bas750 mentioned.  It went in for a service before this cold snap, was in the garage for 3 days waiting for a body part, then came out into the cold.  After 6 years maybe the battery is getting tired and needs the extra revs ???  Back to the garage for a battery check and they can check the mirror at the same time.

  5. For a 2016is it Outdoor 2 ltr.  Its just come back from a small service and running at 1 thousand rpm.  which is quicker than pre service and feels too fast.

The frosty weather has highlighted one wing mirror failing to defrost, I presume a heater element failure.  Can this be a diy job or is it a garage?  Thanks.

  6. Well I cancelled todays trip to the dealers ... Out on Friday and a grinding sound started on the off side front wheel.  Ive had this before and it was a stone trapped against the disk, stopped, reversed and luckily the noise stopped and I assume a stone was dislodged.  Ever since, the dashboard error message and warning icons have gone.   Car has had a dozen trips out and all's well.  Maybe a stone was in there a while and caused the errors, i've no idea.

  7. Thanks for the input but I'm not into the tech side.  I'm an old landy type, something falls off, I bolt it back on.  I was just curious about the error message and possible causes before it goes into the dealer.   Its good to know the possible reasons before someone tries to diagnose and repair.

If only it were that easy... ooh! it is.

Oh I know it's that easy, I was expressing a personal gripe..  It would be just as easy to turn it on if I wanted it on.  It bit like radio, aircon, lights etc. I turn them on when I want them.

The good thing about stop/start both on my last Yeti and now my Kamiq is that it's a simple button press as you start the engine to disable it! :)

Pity its not the other way round, default is off and button press to enable.  For me its a pain in the *ss

  10. Update.  On the recommendation from Prague, the whole blower unit has been replaced.  Due to the equivalent of shielding, Dealer picked up my car, left a courtesy car, brought my car back the next day.  Couldn’t ask for better service.

  11. I like the car and the dealer couldn’t be more accommodating so I’ll see how it goes.  A bit of dust would be an acceptable price if the resistor didn’t fail !!  It gets frustrating for me and the dealer.

Thanks for your help lads, hopefully my next post will be in 6 months to report the fan is still running ok.  Just need to come to some arrangement about the new replacement fan that didn’t cure the problem.

  12. The saga continues….

The virus restricted the dealer from further investigation until recently.  Finally got the car into the dealer, they had it for the majority of two weeks while they tested and looked for a fault.  Numerous discussions with the main Dublin dealer and Czechoslovakia.  No fault uncovered.  Car returned with the 4th new resistor pack so I’ll see how long it lasts.

Clutching at straws, but how about running without a pollen filter to keep it cooler, are there any implications to the car?

  13. Took out the pollen filter, looked clean to me, certainly wasn’t clogged. Printed on the side “made in France, Nov 2018” so allowing for sat in warehouse, dealer shelves,  points to it being changed in the 2019 major service.  Booked in to Dealer in 10 days time,  I will discuss all your points with them.  There’s something obviously amiss with four failures in 18 months.   I’ll update when/if resolved.

  14. Austin 7,  thanks for that, much appreciated.

That’s this mornings job.  Hopefully I’ll find a clogged up filter, I can then take issue with the dealer.  Ifs its clean the saga/investigations will continue.

  15. Approx 12 months ago the resistor pack failed on the heater fan.  Dealer replaced it and I paid.  A few weeks later the resistor failed again, dealer replaced for free.  A few weeks later failed again.  Dealer replaced the fan and resistor pack, I paid.  Today, 6 months on from fan replacement, its failed once more.  Any ideas or advice appreciated.  I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow.
