  1. Hello all, Has anyone had any experience of using a tuning box on their kodiaq? specifically the diesel 150. I have had a quick look at the tuning box TDI tuning offer which suggests an increase of some 47bhp and an additional 75nm. Seems like reasonable increases from a plug and play unit but I'd like to hear your experiences of using these in the real world. cheers
  2. @Wino - lol... yeah maybe. My wife is coming with me. She, at times, can make hulk look like a pussy cat!!
  3. So just to bring this topic full circle.... I dropped the car off at a local Indy in Reading about an hour ago to have them replace the pads. I don't have time at the moment to do them myself. I asked them to check if they needed doing as i was not confident in the statement from the dealer. I just got a call from the Indy... pads are only 50% worn and do not need replacing. 50% over 20,000 miles is reasonable and not unexpected but 85% as sliver said would have indicated erratic driving or a fault which isn't the case. So on the back of this I will collect me car and then go round to skoda and provide them with some feedback.
  4. @shyVRS245 - that is a fair assumption of dealerships as a whole. this is why I'll be going to my local indy for servicing now that the free ones are all used up.
  5. just to add something to this. My Kodiaq came with a service plan, 2 services to be exact. Last year I started getting text messages from the dealer reminding me the service was due. I thought this was in error as the car told me I had a few 1000 miles left before it needed to go in. after discussing with the dealer it transpired that all "service plan cars" should have been put into fixed servicing mode where as mine and a couple of others were "accidentally" left if variable servicing mode. Due to this error my car was 1,100 miles over the 10,000 mile fixed service point. I was told that this could be a problem but when I pushed them they told me they has some lee-way with Skoda. Given that it was them, not me, who did not configure the car correctly, and indeed did not inform me at the time of pickup which servicing setting the car was on I would have had an interesting conversation with Skoda Customer Service if the dealer played up. Suffice to say it was set to fixed serving at that point and went in today for its second service, 9,500 miles later.
  6. I would say, based on my experience today, that my car was not covid-19 sanatised before it was handed back. That is unless you count the cling film they put on the steering wheel and the paper seat liner they used.
  7. to be fair to Skoda they, like many other dealerships, are there to make money. They need to cover their costs including the price of labour and parts as well as paying staff, rent, heating and lighting and many other expenses. You will still pay over the odds at a dealership be it BMW, Ford, Skoda, or Kia but unless everyone starts to push back and not pay their prices they will continue to charge high prices. I'm happy that I am able to undertake such things as changing break pads and can therefore avoid paying the dealer but I appreciate that not everyone can do, or are willing to use an indy which typically would charge less. oh and before I forget they wanted to charge me £14 for 1 litre of Adblue (I have loads at home and still have 1100 miles before it needs topping up) and £183 for a replacement tyre which when pushed told me it could be repaired for £25. so all in all and not counting the free service I had the trip today could have cost me close to £500.
  8. thanks @mrgf much appreciated! I'll go have a look.
  9. @wino - why doesn't this surprise me? this is why I wouldn't take my car to a tyre company to ask them if my tyres need replacing!
  10. @Wino - not yet, came in from picking up the car to jumping on conference calls. I'll check them later. Good thought though, why should I take their word for it huh?
  11. Hi all, Dealer noticed my front pads are 85% worn (after 2 years / 20,000 miles) and wanted £235 to replace them. I'm happy to do that myself and was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent set of pads? TIA Rob
  12. I make it a rule that I do not let anyone else, dealer or otherwise, wash my cars. I've seen first hand what their dirty clothes and brushes can do and want them no where near my car. even today, service day for me, I made it quite clear that I did not want the car washed and I'm happy to report that said car came back just as it went in. normally I'll give the car a good clean before it goes in so they aren't inclined to clean it anyway but today I didn't get the opportunity to do so.
  13. tried this yesterday and it certainly improves the clarity of the display. Can't comment on it being 1080p but it's certainly better than it was before.
  14. Hi all, 6 months into ownership and the steering wheel on my Scout is already starting to wear. there is a patch about the size of a 10 pence piece on the right hand side which looks like it's rubbing away. it's very dar and shinny compared to the rest of the wheel. I'm going to take it back to the dealer on Friday but before I do has anyone else experienced this issue and if so what has been done to rectify it? Rob
