  1. Nooooo :( What are these other two, can you describe exactly where they are and what they look like? Tightest is meant to be best?
  2. I repeat that mine is also worse when the rear wheels go over a bump. Must be boot related. Some folk HAVE had success adjusting stops. I'm almost praying that when I find these other two stops, it helps things massively...
  3. I'll take pics of the ones I've been adjusting if I can't find the others. They're the dome shaped ones on the hatch door itself. What do these other ones look like?
  4. Oh.....?????? Hmmmmmmmmm, I only saw the two black rubber stops at the bottom of the boot lid... Bottom of the glass area? I must find these!!!
  5. @Bidey do you still have the car? Can you detail the fix or give garage details? See here:
  6. @Paul MR says the stop adjustments had no effect and he thinks it's the shock absorbers. For those who adjusted the stops... I think I read that looser is better? In fact I'm confused as sole people say tighter is better!!
  7. Crikey... I'll check that out. P.s. on that thread @Bidey said the garage fixed the booming noise by "adjusting the hatchback door" but unfortunately hasn't described what this fix entailed...
  8. I'd have to run all the tests again but no parcel shelf had no effect for me. Neither did rubber stop adjust.
  9. Fyi the noise appears to be worst m over the yellow anti skid surface prior to traffic lights. That thread is interesting reading....
  10. Hmm, I do remember seeing that. I'll read through the thread tomorrow, thanks!
  11. What is the parcel shelf fix? I was unaware the same noise affected the rapid... And that it's worse??
  12. Or maybe it damaged your hearing and you're no longer able to hear those frequencies... Hope not!
  13. There is a bit of that but it's more like a constant dull thudding and sometimes feels like a pressure build up. Super low frequency so it can hurt.
  14. I can't say for sure but I'm also going to compare how bumpy the ride is. I push the lumbar support out into my back and that, coupled with my head against the head rest... sometimes I get out the car and have a bit of a sore back. I do think you feel the vibrations a bit more. I'll try to compare to other cars.
  15. Audi equivalents are pretty small for the money :( Edit - you'd think if it was a general pressure build earplugs wouldn't fix it. Maybe it's just transient low frequency hits which are hurting the ear drums.
  16. But just to be clear... Did the earplugs actually help? I agree with what you say.
  17. I know it's not a proper solution (or is it..) but have you tried putting earplugs in? Sounds silly but hey... Just curious. VW TSi engines cost about the same as Audi and I think I'd rather go Audi. VW have a terrible reputation for reliability.
  18. I'm not saying the above, or any other, poster is denying the presence of this. But as just said... multiple people have experienced this same thing, so it's not made up. It's a fact! And in fact, the majority of people getting in my car can clearly hear it - though some say they could live with it - it's all relative, if that makes sense.
  19. How bad was the noise - over what roads (or bumps)? Was it acceptable or....?
  20. I'm going to give this a rest for a while. There are more important things for me to spend my time on. I'll drive it into work a few more days and see how I feel - I might be able to put up with it for some time. It's not just the cabin noise, there's also a cabin vibration that is a tad more than other cars I've been in. I think maybe that's what causes my teeth (and sometimes back) to sometimes hurt after a ride..! In any case, I can't get anything like it's spec in similar car without spending an insane fortune and I'm getting 47mpg average which is great. 56.5mpg into work today. So I'll see how it goes and maybe even fork out for tyres if I think I'll keep it for at least a year. By then maybe some of these 1.0 cars or Civic 2017's will be more affordable.... By the way... there's now ANOTHER dent in it. Just as the door was fixed! Not sure if it was there before but it's near the petrol cap and it's pinhole but only viewable in daylight from afar. It seems the body is a bit soft? Sounds like it's all complaints but that's far from the truth - everything else about this car I love!
  21. TBH those cost about the same as a slightly lower spec'd Audi. There's something about Seat I never fancied.
  22. Thanks for the info. That's a lot of time to have kept it given the cabin noise!
  23. How long was your lease? EVen at least a year is a long time - how did you survive? I'd really like to try a Fabia to check out the ride and noise... Monte Carlo is the top spec, I think. I'm LOATHE to spend £14k+ on an Audi which is just the same engine. I've always been a £10-12k or less on cars kind of guy... -> Fabia 1.2 is very economical but only 5 gears. I wonder what economy users get in 5th gear at 70mph+ on the motorway...
  24. Seems like such a step backward - I'm trying to focus less on this now and focus more on time with my terminally ill wife. Just going to "put up with it" until somethings clicks and I know what t get instead. Have to say though we drove all day today in her Vauxhall Mokka and it was a pleasure in comparison. - Fabia is a possibility!
  25. If I thought tyres would help, I'd get them, but here's why I think it wont make a difference: - when I close the door I hear a bit of reverberation - nothing to do with tyres. - when I go over bumps, I hear it (mainly from the back wheels - there's some clue there...) - again, not much contact there so can't be the tyres. It'd be the best part of £500 for fitted tyres and re-alignment. An expensive experiment.
