  1. As a child, I used to love drawing cars and would spend ages designing new models. Rather surprisingly, nobody from BL, Ford, VW or any other manufacturer ever approached me with a view to producing my designs so I decided to set up my own company. Needing a name for my new brand, I employed the services of a consultant (AKA my Mum) to make some suggestions. The chosen name, Kephigo (made up from bits of my forename, middle name and surname), was quite brilliant, sounding vaguely European whilst also sounding a bit like the Austin Montego, which was a car that I knew my Dad wished he would be able to afford one day. With a great name and some amazing designs that combined the best bits from the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazard, the A Team's GMC Ventura van, the Ford Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch and The Fall Guy's Chevy pick-up with those from my Dad's Austin Maxi, how could the project fail? Alas, it did due to one small oversight on my part - whilst there was absolutely nothing wrong with the designs I realise now that it was unfair of me to expect my brother to develop the engineering and business prowess to get the project off the ground. Unfortunately, he was more interested in pulling wheelies on his Grifter so I am now driving a Skoda and NOT a Kephigo.
  2. You've got to rely on your dealer I'm afraid. I understand that even if you've bought through the dealership group that supports the trackmyskoda site, they still manually update it. You might think that, in this age, Skoda would implement a public interface but it seems they haven't.
  3. It's BW35! My car should be born this week. Just hoping they give it all the good bits...
  4. I've been considering this too, along with the service pack. I kind of assumed that I would be able to sort it out when I come to collect the car but from what people are saying it sounds like I might need to do it earlier. Is that right? My car should be built next week. Am I too late?
  5. Changing the colour didn't seem to affect me. I changed from quartz to meteor grey about 3 weeks ago and am still expecting it to built next week (week 35). I ordered 17th July so should be around 11 weeks in total. Maybe I've just been lucky?
  6. Supply issues concerning petrol engines isn't just affecting VW group. Before ordering my VRS, I spoke to a BMW dealer who told me that there would be little chance of getting a petrol BMW till next year. Interestingly, they are currently offering large discounts on diesels though. VW have been slow to react though, they've only just released petrol versions of the Passat and Tiguan this month.
  7. Manual VRS 230 estate in quartz grey (although I'm contemplating changing that) with DCC, spare wheel, folding mirrors, variable boot floor, front parking sensors, reversing camera and heated seats. Don't understand how they work the schedule, maybe it's affected by the dealership?
  8. I've just been given a provisional build week of 36.
  9. I ordered petrol VRS on 17th July. Haven't got a build week yet but was told around 14 weeks till delivery. I have a feeling this could be optimistic. I'd be interested to know if there's a difference in delivery times between petrol and diesel - I know that some manufacturers are having difficulty meeting the demand for petrol cars due to recent bad publicity with diesels. Rumour has it that some are having to limit production of petrols in order to meet CO2 regulations that require that their average does not exceed 130g/km - otherwise they face penalties. Not sure if that's true or not!
  10. After months of indecision, I've finally ordered a FL VRS estate 230 TSi today. Got a bit carried away with the options list! Quartz grey Black pack DCC Heated front seats Variable boot floor Front and rear parking sensors Reversing camera Folding door mirrors Space saver spare wheel Simply Clever pack Now hoping I've made the right choice...
  11. I'm close to deciding on a new vRS estate for my next car and am looking at the options list. I've been sent a PDF by a dealer which shows Light Assistant as being standard on the vRS but there is an option for Intelligent Light Assistant with High Beam control, which is £310. Can anyone tell me what this gives you? The descriptions against each seem pretty similar: Intelligent light assistant with high beam control automatically controls and adapts the high beam headlights to current traffic situations, protecting oncoming drivers from being blinded by actively dipping the high-beam. Light assistant this high beam assistant automatically switches on and off the high beam according to light conditions and the traffic situation. Using the camera located at the top of the windscreen, the system monitors outside sources of light, such as other vehicles, public lighting in cities, etc. Also includes auto dimming rear view mirror for SE. Also, I'm unsure as to whether to go for the Power Boot or not. I keep the car garaged and have always had problems with hatches in the past as you can't open the boot without it hitting the up-and-over garage door. That's why I went for a saloon last time! But now a growing family means I really need an estate. I understand that the Power Boot allows you to set the height that the lid will open, potentially solving this problem. Is this right or is there a way to set the height if you don't have the Power Boot (other than keeping hold of it)?
  12. Yes, the deal's valid on cars registered and delivered before 30th June, which I think is 11 weeks away. That's plenty of time for anything that is already built and in the country. The point I was trying to make is that the deals I've been offered on a car that isn't yet built seem to assume I'll get this discount. I guess there is still a chance that it would be ready before 30th June in which case, that's fine. But if I was to go ahead and place an order at the agreed price, and the car turns up sometime in July, it sounds like I'd be expected to pay an additional £500. That doesn't seem right as I have no control over when the car is ready.
  13. I've noticed that Skoda are currently offering discounts for deals completed by the end of April (it's £500 off a new Octavia). However, the small print says it is for cars "...registered and delivered to the customer by 30th June 2017". I've been quoted a delivery timescale of around 12 weeks for a new Octavia VRS so, even if I get my skates on and order pretty quick, it looks unlikely that I'll qualify for the discount. However, the quotes I've had (through carwow) are assuming that I'll get it. This doesn't seem right - if Skoda can't deliver in these timescales how can they offer this promotion?
