  1. Thanks for that, it will help if I do have to remove bumper. Was hoping someone would tell me there's another way, such as removal of the lower panel (spoiler? diffuser?) only. Your effort is appreciated.
  2. Had to open the picture in a new window to do that - but it did work. As I thought, it refers to removal of bumper in a different part of the manual - so still doesn't answer my question.
  3. You've changed from an EFB battery to AGM. You really should get it coded as the charging requirements are a little different. If you can't do it yourself with VCDS, ObdEleven, Carscanner or similar there must be someone on here who's near Guildford and can help. Failing that do you have a friendly local independent garage/mechanic ? Anybody in the trade should be able to do it.
  4. Thanks Jo88Mak for taking the trouble to respond. However the workshop manual illustration is very difficult to read as the text is small and blurred. Nevertheless, so far as I can tell it refers to removal of bumper (which I suspected) and my original question was does anyone know if this can be done without removing the bumper? At least you tried - I'm still waiting for anyone else to respond.
  5. Our 2016 Fabia Combi 1.2 tsi 110 6 speed manual reports 52 mpg overall long term but that's largely due to long runs on major roads and motorways. Gets 38 to 42 ish when used locally but is very dependent on how heavy your foot is.
  6. Can anyone out there tell me if a rear parking sensor can be replaced on an Octavia mk3 combi(estate) without removing the bumper ? If the lower panel can be removed with the main part of bumper still in place how exactly is it released ? Hoping to hear from someone who's actually done this as failed parking sensors are fairly common. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Bazz
  7. Your battery is an 096 EFB 70 Ah. Any reputable brand meeting this spec will be OK. If you change battery spec (to AGM or a different Ah capacity) then it MUST be coded. I have used batteries from VARTA an YUASA, supplied by TAYNA in the UK. It WILL WORK if fitted without coding but as PetrolDave said it SHOULD be coded in order to ensure correct operation of charging by the cars Battery Management System. I cannot say whether this is the only problem, but if there are other problems they cannot be dealt with until the battery is performing properly. If all is well when new battery is fitted you will probably get all sorts of alarm warnings and fault codes but these should clear themselves in just a few minutes when the car is started and driven.
  8. I don't recommend attempting to replace filter without draining oil, you'd finish up with a lot of oil on the drive. Bite the bullet and do it properly would be my advice.
  9. Be sure to use oil to VW spec 507.00. I use Castrol Edge 5-30 LL.
  10. PS. Note that the new filter element is marked "TOP" and is fitted the right way. Torque the cover to 20 or 25 Newton Metres when refitted. Hope this has been some help. Good Luck ! Expect it to be a messy job - wear gloves !
  11. As Alasdair1 said. Oil Filter is a cartridge type (not the spin on metal canister you may be accustomed to on petrol engines). It is accessed from the top on this model and you will need a 32mm hex socket (not the 12 point version supplied in many socket sets as these can round off the plastic "nut" on the top of the housing.) and an extension bar on your wrench to reach it (the one I use is about 10 inches long). If I remember correctly you may need to dismount a bracket above the filter in order to get a clear space to insert the filter straight and vertical. There is an oil temperature and level detector mounted on the bottom of the sump. An oil pressure swich is mounted on the cylinder head (probably need to remove inlet air pipe to get at it.) There is a Haynes manual for this model - plenty of the "paperback" version available on eBay, or "premium" version (hardback and better quality paper and pictures) for twice the price from Haynes themselves. I will now attempt to attach some pics from the manual which may help you.
  12. Sorry if I've misinformed on DSG service issues, I stand corrected, but there have been numerous complaints on forums about problems, though of course that could be a few dozen complaints among a million or so vehicles. Can anyone confirm the issue of model change (in whichever market Upsidedown90 is resident) as this may explain his query regarding price difference ?
  13. Hi, I suspect you're not in the UK as trim levels here are not named "Style" and "Ambition", though a bit of Googling indicates these trim level names are used elsewhere and Alasdair1 is probably right about ambition being the lower spec. However I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) here in UK the 2019 would be a Mark3(facelift) and the 2021 would be a Mark4, so different model. Suggest you check this out further before making up your mind. Personally I would have the manual gearbox every time as there are countless reports of issues with DSG if not serviced properly, but then I prefer manual anyway so only a personal opinion. If I'm right about the change of model (apparently in 2020) then this might explain the difference in prices.
