  1. Martin, I replaced my old wheel centre badges (std VRS wheels) with new ones and can confirm your quoted part number 6U0 601 151 L is correct. (The number is moulded on the inside face of the badge). Peter
  2. Hi, I dont know if that was a general question or to me, sorry I have no experience of using GSF products so cant really comment. I know quite a few on here do use their products and have no problems. Maybe doing a search can shed some light. Peter
  3. Looks a very good mod done. I can predict a national shortage of R32 racks now . Peter
  4. The front disks (ventilated) are a dia 312mm x 25mm thick with 5 fixing holes on a 100mm pcd. Disc Part Number: 8N0 615 301 A , Pads Part Number: 1J0 698 151 M The rear disks (ventilated) are a dia 256mm x 22mm thick with 5 fixing holes on a 100mm pcd. Disc Part Number: 8N0 615 601 B , Pads Part Number: 1J0 698 451 K I am in the process of replacing mine with the above (NB: The same numbers apply for yours) Cheers Peter
  5. Hi, I just looked on Etka, not knowing what year your car is i did a search for 2000 / 2005 models. The hinge construction does not appear to change between both models. The hinge appears to be a sold as an assembly, the bolts that secure it can be bought separately, there is no breakdown showing a hinge pin or part number for it. Peter NB: Have you tried adjusting the chrome striker plate on the door pillar, I had the same prob with a very old R/Rover, lowering it cured the problem until I fitted a new hinge assembly.
  6. Anyone ????, After trawling the net I came across this site they do mention about replacing a TMC module :- Sat Nav/TMC Tuner issue - Audi Forums Getting closer lol
  7. I ran vag-com yesterday (MOT next week) and got 2 fault codes come up. I have done a search here, couldnt find any solution posted, also looked at Ross Tech Wiki, it mentions to check Instrument cluster (J285) and wiring. The radio is the original and everything works ok, really weird. Does anyone here know where is J285 and what wiring / connectors I should check visually?. "Control Module Part Number: 1U0 035 161 D Component and/or Version: Radio GRO 0001 Software Coding: 00407 Work Shop Code: WSC 73430 1 Fault Found: 01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285) 49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent" 00856 Radio Anenna 36-00 -Open Circuit Thanks Peter
  8. I bought mine from Balance Motorsport. Very quick delivery.
  9. Hi all, I also fitted the Powerflex Dogbone bush, it came with the flattish tapped nut thats shown in the pic, i did tighten it up as hard as I could on assembly, (worried about it coming undone). The vibration did surface at tickover but as has been said earlier almost vanished after about a month of bedding in. The wheel hopping when giving it the beans has vanished, gear change seems crisper. Over all Im very pleased with it. I would say it is one of the very cost effective mods for improving your cars handling, and a very quick / easy thing to fit. NB: I did smother all the contact surfaces in Copper-ease grease to avoid squeeking in July last year when it was fitted
  10. It looks a nice tidy car, like the blue colour
  11. First couple of days I had the car I used local supermarket petrol, then tried Shell V-Power at my next fill up. The engine seemed much happier, responsive etc, so now I only use V-Power.
  12. Nice fix Ian:thumbup:, The one thing about stainless is "fit and forget". I did look at mine and noticed my tray fixings are rusting as well. Cheers
  13. Hi and Welcome, Last April I bought some Phillips Ex-treme H4 headlight bulbs, included was a set of front Phillips Blue Vision W5W side light bulbs free. It was just a case of unclipping the back cover to the headlight and swapping them over. I just checked on the website I got them from "www.Powerbulbs.com" and the free sidelight offer is still on. To be honest any uprated bulb kit is loads better than the standard ones you get with the car, its really a matter of personal choice. Good Luck Peter
  14. Thanks Hussarman i did notice that the rear hose (nearest the screen) runs down hill to the reservoir, so its a good spot for a airlock to form there.
  15. Good question Bodge, The material that its made from is glass filled polycarbonate (i suspect 20% glass). That is a good robust material and dimensionally stable. Ive used it a lot in my component designs. Its fairly strong, but can be subject to cracking if sharp internal corners dont have a blend radii of at least twice material thickness. From a design viewpoint, I think 1mm wall thickness is not sufficient considering the environment its in, (ie knocks, hose changing etc). Maybe im biased tho' lol. The crack in the spigot wall, well, I could have done that when I replaced the existing "quick release clip" with a adjustable one in stainless and maybe overtightened it or at the very least made the crack worse. Regarding the materials porosity with power steering fluid or any corrosive effect, I dont have any information regarding long term effects. Maybe someone on here knows. Thanks for clamping suggestion, ill try that, plus plastic measuring jug (to catch fluid underneath) and lots of rags to protect the car.
  16. I collected the Power Steering Reservoir this morning :- £20.49 + vat (includes green screw top), swap over should be fun. I checked the wall thickness of the spigot on the new one (the one thats cracked on mine), it works out at 1mm, so over tightening the hose clip is not a good idea.
  17. Hi Bodge, thanks for your comment, yes I hoped the same regarding price, I looked on Fleabay and saw one advertised in the USA for about £15. This morning, thinking oh well another trip to the bank, I phoned the local Audi main dealer, and was quoted just over £20 plus vat, when I collect it tomorrow I will post the exact price. The parts rep' asked me what car is it for, when I told him, his response was "Ooooooo, well it says here its for a Audi A3", then apologised for not having the micro-fisch for Skoda cars. I think ill suggest they invest in it, a untapped market perhaps lol:thumbup:.
  18. After doing an extensive search on part with torch and mirror late last night, I found the embossed number on the flat surface underneath at the front :- 1J0 - 422 -371 C. I did a search on the internet and this number is also quoted for Golf MK4's. I need to replace mine as I noticed the front hose was constantly getting wet, upon investigation (almost pulling the hose off the spigot and drying it), that there is a hairline crack in the plastic and you can see the fluid seeping through it as you look.
  19. Help !!! Anyone know the Part number / Price of a Power Steering Reservoir tank ??? (05' Octy VRS. It sits next to the round coolant expansion tank and has a green filler cap) Thanks
  20. This pipe mod looks very interesting, is it stainless?. This would remove the restrictive effect of that pancake cross section. I am running on standard wheels and tyres (Contisport-Contacts), is it safe to assume on full lock there would be no tyre to pipe contact?. Thanks Update: Just looked on their site the material used is T304 Stainless Steel Nicee
  21. I had the same problem 6 months after i bought mine. Solution:- Bought 2 plastic door switches (plunger type), checked g/box closed gap with blue tack, trimmed plunger end down to the gap +5mm on the length and removed the spade connector on the back of the plunger switch. Pulled out the rubber cones, opened up the existing cone holes in the plastic to just below body dia of switch body. pressed switches in, hey presto no rattles. The 2 new plungers, being internally sprung, are constantly exerting pressure, (via the g/box door contact face) on the 2 square latches against their respective square cutouts either side of the glovebox.
  22. I agree with Lex Dysia, I fitted a Whiteline RARB (Adjustable) a year ago, set it on 2nd fixing hole, been on the car over a year and have never changed the setting.
  23. This is a useful post shows where the sensor is, use search then enter the text in quotes "Green Temp Sensor" - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forums (page 2 posted by Grotty Green)
