  1. I am looking for a cheap reliable car (3 years low cost motoring) for my missues and have seen one of these on a 51 plate with 70K, looks in good condition at an ok garage (not a main dealer). What should I be looking for on the test drive and is the 1.2 a better way to go?? She is really after a fiesta but I am trying to convince her a fabia is really that polo (we had an 03 plate) in disguise!! Do these rust as I've noticed quite a few 51 plate fiestas going under the rear wheel arch.
  2. The 1.9 is okay but 2 litre diesel everytime mate, its a far smoother engine, punchy and downright quick at times. I've had both types in an Audi. The difference is quite spectacular, I wouldnt go back to the 1.9.
  3. The VAT 'story' sounds like a convenient cop out they reel out!!! if it was true why would nearly new Minis/Audi TT's sell for near list. That level of depreciation is due to the fact dealers want about 2-3K mark up on most cars in that bracket and yours would need to be priced cheaper than a discounted new one. My used
  4. Be wary of autoebid....I got a very cheap quote online to rival DTD...then in telephone communication (their idea not mine) with them (probably thru my requesting a px price), the price of the new car suddenly went up to list price and they sited 12 weeks wait time. They may not of wanted my px but seemed a tw*t of a way to wriggle out.
  5. I've test driven golf gti vs oct vrs back to back on two occassions this year. My experience is that the golf is a fair bit gruntier for some reason and has much more direct steering, its a class act compared to any other golf bar the R32, the skoda is a smidgen behind on the fun stakes for me. Unfortunately the golf gti's heavily bolstered seats hurt like hell with my ample girth in them, wheras the skoda was armchair comfy. Try them both!
  6. Quote channel 4'Additional extras on top of the Skoda's
  7. I'm debating whether to go for a VRS this year (probably TDI as dont fancy 350 mile a tankfull from a petrol after 500 miles from a derv).....the options seem to have shot up though....
