  1. A further 2 turns.. is that a full 180 degrees of the nut. Just to clarify.. is it easy to mess this up and does it have to be bang on exact.
  2. So the tappets arrived today, boy that was fast, so all systems go for the 8th. Just a couple of questions I got please guys, to take the inlet manifold off, do i only have to disconnect the electrical connectors to the injectors, I can leave all the fuel lines or fuel line ect connected .. also when you say to put 2 turns ect on the adjusters does this mean one full turn of the nut, 180 degrees? Thanks man 😁
  3. Yes I saw that one earlier too lol, sounds exactly the same ! 99% sure it's a tappet.. and HG as well , have been smelling hot coolant alot when getting out the car.
  4. Yes it's saying it should be here by the 10th at the latest so hopefully in time, can't find them anywhere in the UK ! Lol
  5. Haha yeah sounds terrible, 122k mate. I know what you mean about the weather, couldn't happen in summer could it ! I've got no choice other then use it to get to work for the next ten days, just hoping it holds out and doesn't cause any further damage..
  6. Here's a short video of the noise it's making, had to take it round the block for it to start today, normally its right away, and you can see it did stop towards the end of the video, its intermittent, but usually does it more so then not, after chaining the cam chain and water pump, I didn't experience any noise at all, it was lovely and quiet, this just started happening about a week ago. https://youtu.be/6mfzWIvhdDE
  7. I've guessing I wont need to let them bleed out when doing initial setup now as they will be empty? / oil free Just hope it drives for the next 10 days until I can do the work! Literally only using it to get to work now, 11 miles away.
  8. Would it of been cheaper to buy a different car, maybe but there again you don't know what problems the car will have your buying, and I'm already pretty invested in this :/ bah humbug! :P Merry Christmas ay
  9. I've found them, (thanks wino) this is the cheapest I can find as well, some places are selling them for well over £20 pounds Each!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8x-Valve-Tappet-Hydraulic-Tappet-ZH0083-Skoda-1-4-VW-Seat-1-0-047109309/264748328721?epid=712271955&hash=item3da43ae711:g:FZEAAOSwlWRdAgl3#shpCntId Gonna order them and hope this sorts it. do them at same time I do the head.
  10. Ah I see right very helpful, there all the way down there are they, umm. It sounds like the sound im having it coming from the top of the engine.. unless this noise travels from vibration, I'll get a screw driver on a few parts tomorrow and try taking the belt off again.. see if it's definitely the engine. See if I can pinpoint where about it's coming from , I guess I could sort of put the screw driver at the front of the engine .. similar to where there located .
  11. The Mrs mom as a compressor I could go across and use if it looked like I needed to , but I was hoping to ask the guys nicely to do that for me, as I will struggle to get there with no transport.. ah thanks wino for that. Thanks all. What an head ache I have lol
  12. Yeah it doesn't look right does it ;/ umm.. I'll try phoning my local auto stores tomorrow see what there saying.
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/x8-PCS-HYDRAULIC-LIFTERS-SET-FOR-SKODA-FABIA-OCTAVIA-ROOMSTER-SUPERB-1-9-TDI-PD-/252978610589?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Says these will fit according to the eBay car match, I've sent them an email.. getting expensive this lol
  14. Can't even seem to find any online not on euro or carparts4less either :/
  15. Ah yes maybe it's a lifter.. is this something easy to replace at the same time? Damn it's making hell of a racket, is it ok to drive for the next 2 weeks untill I've got days off work to fix all this ? I will post a video tomorrow of the noise, I'm gonna try put a new spark plug in the dodgy one see if it's runs any better at idle, it's definitely still miss firing.
  16. Agreed mate although my input bearing is doing the same upon pushing the clutch in you can hear this noise disappear, but so called tappety noise is still there at idle but disappears as you rev then car and almost always comes back when it goes back to idle..
  17. well the head gasket set and bolts as just arrived, there's no washers in with the head bolts, did you reuse your old washers TMB? Thanks Again also I've just watched this this guy is putting copper grease on the head bolt threads. I'm guessing you don't need to do that, and I can safely skip it heh, he also taps the holes which I wont be doing.
  18. It's started to make a ticking noise now, Mainly on idle, but its intermittent, or more noisy then not, I've never heard this before (it's actually quite embarrassing when pulling up next to people), It's not the timing chain, and its had a brand new water pump, It was fine for about 3 weeks no noise, so maybe its something to do with the misfire! god knowns, I'll try upload a video of it, but yeah, I'm just waiting on the parts to arrive, and my next holiday off work on the 10th of dec to get this head done, and ill get the engine rebuilders to check all the valves and springs... seems like one thing after another with this car, fix something, then something else goes, its knocking when turning as well so think the left drive shaft is on its way out! (further update, I'm hoping when the stem seals are replaced this could sort this problem?)
  19. Yeah it I left it all on, only because I saw someone doing it on a YouTube video or I would of took it off following the Haynes it makes it more work and the possibility of messing something else up .. there's just enough room to slide it all out
  20. Like for doing the cam chain Haynes tells you to take all the oil pump off when you don't need to
  21. Yeah be easier to just remove them I reckon.
  22. and i must admit the cyberpunk 2077 hype is killing me right now ;)) those days i took off to play cyberpunk.. instead i will be trying to repair my car :).. so unfair hehe
