  1. Yeah I think ur both rite probably by hand using sponge n spray bottle etc will do the job fine, my bays not filthy just needs a bit of a tidy up I personally love the meguiars range so il use that 👍
  2. Hi mate. Thank u for ur reply. To be honest i wanted to clean mostly all the plastic just to get it looking like new as much as possible, I’ve seen a video by meguiars cleaning the engine bay on an Audi with the same engine as mine and they just hosed it without covering anything up they said on that engine it’s all plastic so should be ok but you hear different things some say cover everything you can others say it will be ok!
  3. Evening guys! Is it safe to clean the engine bay on my octy vrs tdi? I mean with a hose and not blast it with water!
  4. Hi there. I fitted the battery last weekend and all seems ok car fires up straight away hot or cold so a job well done finger x.
  5. Thank you mate I appreciate your feedback 👍
  6. Hi guys. Sorry to get back on this subject again, my new battery arrived earlier and I was about to fit it when somebody told me that as my car is remapped fitting a new battery could wipe this out. Does anybody know if this is true or not please before I go ahead and fit it! Thank you
  7. Tested my battery last nite it’s showing low- medium charge so il put a a new one on soon, and I guess if it’s still doing it il do the other sensors as well
  8. Yeah it just bugs me more than anything, my mate has a battery tester so will find out later if it’s that or not, if the battery is fine I will just leave it and see if it gets worse, like you I have no fault codes, my car has done nearly 14000 miles now so I suppose sensors etc will need replacing sooner rather than later
  9. Ok thank you il give that a try. I appreciate the help 👍
  10. Just had a look there’s nothing on top of the battery to say the size, so unless it’s under the battery case down the side of the battery!
  11. Yeah it does just doesn’t fire until you turn the key and it’s fine. What size batteries do these cars take just in case it is the battery plz.
  12. Yeah I think il do that I didn’t wanna spend loads of money on different parts to find out it’s something else
  13. Hi all. I have a octy vrs tdi estate (60 plate) my issue started around a month ago the car starts fine from cold and if u stop n start it again roughly after 15-20 mins it starts fine but on the 3rd time it won’t fire straight up you have to crank it again and all seems ok. It did it again earlier so only the second time in a month so it seems more intermittent My guess is maybe the battery (5 yrs old roughly) I have seen other people on here with similar issues but no definitive answers. Any help I would appreciate
  14. I’ve just had a look on YouTube looks fairly simple so il give it a go see if there’s anything obvious
  15. Yeah I think that’s gonna be the best bet. Does anyone know how easy the door cards come off
  16. No speaker is still working fine same as the others
  17. So maybe it’s speaker related?! Il have a look and see how my bass settings are but would that cause a rattle!
  18. Hi Micmac. I had my mate listen and he said the same as me but knowing where exactly on the door is so hard. I have checked the screws on the door trim and they are both tight and various other bits on the passenger side but all looks ok but you can definitely hear it rattle
  19. Hi guys. I have an annoying rattle coming from the passenger door on my mk2 octy vrs estate, I thought it was coming from the seat belt height adjuster or the seat height adjuster but I’m 99% sure it’s the door. It does only seem to do it more when it’s cold so maybe it could just be the plastic etc rubbing whatever it is is driving me nuts 🤪. Any advise would be most great full
  20. I knew I was right at the time but try telling the mot guys that mate!! From what else I was told it was cheaper for Skoda to just put some bulbs in the sidelights rather than blank it off
  21. Yes mine is the vrs, but my sidelights aren’t wired in, if yours are wired in then they should be working. As of February 2011 any car fitted with the drls have to actually work. ( according to gov.)
  22. Hi guys n girls. Just a little bit of info regarding sidelights for the mk2 octy fl. I had my car motd yesterday and the mot tester failed it because he said my sidelights weren’t working, I told him that my car doesn’t have working sidelights as my drls are my sidelights, they were having none of it insisting that my car should have working sidelights. So I came home googled it n sure enough this subject has been covered on here a while ago. So I rang Skoda direct and the guy I spoke to confirmed that the drls are the sidelights and gave me the following info: drls maybe combined with other lamps, for example some manufacturers use the same lamp for both the drl and the position lamp. In these cases the drl automatically dims to function as a lower intensity position lamp when the headlamps are turned on. Thought this may help other people who come across dim witted mot testers who think they know everything!
  23. Just an update. Took a look at my oxygen sensor yesterday and found a small hole in the plastic cover on the cable but couldn’t see if the actual wires have been damaged so I ordered a new sensor as it looks like it’s seen better days. New one cost me £87. (Bosch).
  24. Sorted thank you bud May give it a go or book it in with mechanic. Strange thing is it only does it if I give it a boot full
  25. Ok thank you are they easy to replace?
