  1. About that, yes . Most of our journeys are no more than 2-3 miles round Crawley. Every now and then we'll go for a good motorway run and get a lot more - we averaged something like 45mpg around the Isle of Wight in the summer. We're going up to Norwich soon so that will help And yes, I know we should walk / catch the bus more, but the bus doesn't go the right way for the girls to get to school, and getting a four-year-old to walk 1 1/2 miles each way everyday is probably a bit much. Plus, Mrs Statto works next to the school, so it's not like the car's empty And it's petrol, not diesel by the way
  2. Yes - we got them as an option to stop the kids from winding the windows down and not winding them all the way back up. It's lovely being back in control again! Plus when they they complained of feeling sick it used to be really awkward to roll down the back windows while driving (the passenger side was obviously impossible without someone else in the front passenger seat) - having electric ones is so much better
  3. Our Roomster was delivered with a dent! When the dealer was filling the tank a doddery old dear parked next to it and opened her door right into our rear wing  We took it back after the weekend and they sorted it out and filled the tank up again as an apology (even though it wasn't their fault), so to Crawley Down
  4. They're electric rear windows, hence the mention of the switch!
  5. Over the last couple of weeks I've discovered that the drivers side rear window in our Roomster doesn't go back up in one go when I flick the switch. Is this a common problem, and if so will it solve itself or is it another one for the dealer?
  6. We had that problem in our old Fabia - if you turned the air control up even one notch from the coldest setting you would get a blast of very hot air in your face. Never did solve it, until we traded up to the Roomster
  7. The rattle is something I will let the dealer sort out, as it's under warranty. What I wanted to know was if the whining noise is normal, or something else that needs checking out
  8. As well as a small rattle from our air-con (which I assume is a fan blade catching something and will get fixed at some point), there is a distinct whine when the air conditioning is turned on. Is this something I should be worried about?
  9. Cheers. I guess it must have been somewhere different on the old Fabia, because I never heard it on that
  10. When I open the driver's door of my 4 month old Roomster 2 1.4 petrol there is a whirring noise which seems to emanate from either the bottom of the door frame or underneath the car. Is this normal, or should I be worried about it - it doesn't affect any of the other doors.
  11. Now that I know the middle seat has a 3-point belt it's less of an issue. I just didn't want one of the kids to just have a lap belt
  12. And one other question - does the middle seat have a lap belt, or a 3-pointer?
  13. That's good to hear. My wife has had enough of being very tightly wedged between two booster seats when we've had an extra person in the car!
  14. Thanks for that Stuart. Regarding the climate control, I would much rather have something that blows air out at a constant temperature than have one that continually adjusts depending on the temperature inside the car. Is there enough room in the back for 2 children (in booster seats) & an adult?
  15. Hi - first time post here. We're looking at upgrading from a Mk1 Fabia Estate (1.4l, 68hp) to a Roomster. We're mainly getting it because a bit of extra room in the back seats would be really handy (the Fabia gets very cramped with 2 booster seats & an adult) We're going to go for a Roomster 2, but we're not sure whether the 1.4l 85hp engine would be fine, or if we'd be better off with the 1.6l 105hp. What do people realistically get in terms of fuel economy - I'm sure the brochure for the Fabia mentioned well over 40mpg, but we only average about 32mpg. Also, what additional options would people recommend - I can remember reading something on here about the middle headrest & the small cover between the parcel shelf & back seats. And finally, one real bugbear about our Fabia has been the air conditioning system. I'm sure it was supposed to be a manual system, but ours seems to occasionally blow hot (sometimes very) air even when the dial is set just above minimum which leads me to believe it's actually climate control. Is the manual air on the Roomster 2 really what it says - does it blow air at a constant temperature?
  16. We also have a real problem with misting up. It can be a real pain when we need a hasty getaway because we're late for something. We occasionally have problems with it re-steaming after having been clear for a while, which can be pretty dangerous when you can't see out of the windscreen  When the problem first arose we got it checked out and the dealer told us that the windscreen wash hose was leaking into the air-con system. However, I'm assuming that this isn't still the case as it was fixed.
