  1. Hi Just wondering if I can be pointed in the right directing in regards to exhausts. My wife has a MK3 VRS DSG - Tdi 184 and she is not keen on the 'fake exhaust sounds' she said and I quote 'I want the car to sound like yours'. I bought my MK2 Octavia a while ago and it came with a Milltek resonated exhaust system. Which I love, not too load but enough to get a smile on my face when I put my foot down. I've browsed the Milltek website and for her car I only seem to get one option the cat -back, I have no idea if this is theory is what im after. https://milltekshop.com/cat-back-dual-outlet-requires-right-hand-outlet-and-tip-part-5e0253682e-and-right-hand-rear-silencer-hanging-bracket-with-rubber-mount-part-5q0253144n-from-your-local-skoda-dealer-vrs-2-0-tdi-184ps-hatch-estate-manual-and-dsg-auto-2013-2020-ssxsk022/ Many thanks
  2. Hi Guys and Girls Well today I seem to have the dreaded issue with my Columbus head unit. The previous owner upgraded to the Columbus unit. I was driving along and the screen went black and I heard a thumb though the speakers and then for the rest of the journey the speakers kept thumbing, I have no sound and no screen. I have had a quick google and there seems to be mixed feedback on this error, some are saying reinstall the firmware and some are saying to re-solder a chip inside the head unit. Does anyone have any feedback on this at all, any help would be grateful. My old mans an electrical engineer, so it willing to get the soldering iron out!
  3. Other half just walked in and said, is this suppose to come off. doh! It’s the bonnet release handle, looks like a bits broke off internally. Any idea on the part no for these, looks like I will need the handle and the mech. Anyone ever replaced one? Many thanks
  4. Sounds like you're not overly impressed with Carista then. I am still looking at OBDEleven, just waiting for a decent offer. I am in no rush. Sounds like you're not overly impressed with Carista then. I am still looking at OBDEleven, just waiting for a decent offer. I am in no rush.
  5. So for me it looks like OBDEleven might be the way to go, I may wait until a sale event or Black Friday. (Which shouldn't even be a thing in the UK) Many thanks
  6. So I don’t have a laptop so can’t really do the whole coding through VCDS. I was looking at OBDEleven Vs Carly. In all honesty, I just want to make a few tweaks to my other half’s mk3 VRS. She wants chirp on open and close and to change the home light to the fog light and a few other tweaks. OBDEleven seems to have a yearly charge and then credits. Carly I’m not to sure what they are about. So what have people got, whats the opinion of them? TIA
  7. So the other half has joined the dark side and got a MK3 Octavia VRS estate. She’s loves it, but she wants a few minor coded mods. Not sure the best way to go about it. Firstly she’s after the chirp of locking and unlocking…. I know it’s not to everyone’s taste, but that’s life. Also wants to change the coming home lights from the main lights to the fogs. As currently she’s is blinding our neighbours with them! I don’t have a Laptop or anything like that. So unsure how to go about making these changes. Help would be appreciated.
  8. Hi guy/girls (what ever I’m allowed to call people these days) My VRS has developed a rattle while idle, if I blip the throttle the rattle goes, and if I switch the air-con on it goes also. Now the sarcastic among you may say, leave the air-con on and never idle. But this is the modern world ans most of us sit in traffic on a commute. I’ve had my ear all over the car inside and out I hear the noise more from the drivers side in the footwell, the screw are all tight and I’ve done the usual pressing on panels etc. it sounds to me like a fan. Knocking against something. I spoke to my local garage yesterday and they said pop it in later afternoon and they’d have a look and give it a test drive. Inexplicably when I took it down to them, the noise stopped, but this morning it’s back! I’ve attached a video also. Any ideas, greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi My Mk2 is well overdue a new battery, I think it may be the original and it’s an 11 plate! I was looking on good old EuroCarParts and they’ve suggested a range of batteries, but when I start putting in specifics I get only one, in theory can I upgrade from the standard? What have other people done? Photo attached is the current battery.
  10. Hi Looks like it’s going to have to be a battery change for my Mk2 Octavia VRS, sooner rather than later. I know the radio code question has gone around a lot but…… The question I have is, my radio is a Skoda original radio, but not the factory fitted one, it’s an upgraded one done by the previous owner. It’s a Columbus. Should I be okay swapping the battery out and not need the radio code, or am I going to run into an issue? TIA
  11. I've had my Octavia VRS almost 5 months now and I've noticed a slight squeal from the clutch as I get to the bite point and it'll only happens once or twice a day. I've done just over 4K and the cars got 45k on the clock. Ive taken it back to Skoda (who I bought it from) they did usual checks. But wanted £300 to investigate further. I.e take the clutch out. I asked for the worst case scenario, I.e a new clutch and they came back with around £1500. I loath the idea of spending £1800 on top of the original purchase price back in December. Have a a listen to the attached video clip, I've managed to record the squeal. Octavia VRS clutch squeal hope someone can help
  12. Hi guys I'm new to the forum and the Skoda range. Bought myself a mk2 2011 Octavia vrs on a Friday, having great fun with it so far. Just having a minor issue with connecting my iPod touch. I found a USB plug in the glove box and I've used my iPod cable to connect this to my iPod to no avail. I get an message on the iPod saying something along the like of "incompatible accessory ...." (don't quote me in that) I tired my iPhone too, same message come up. Aside fro this I've also tired the Aux cable in the iPhone and iPod. Nothing happens. I've done a quick search online (that's actually how I found you guys) and I haven't really got a firm answer. Then tonight I did a search in Amazon for "Skoda MDI iPod cable" and found a MDI cable with a iPod/iPhone connector and aux cable together. Would this solve my problem? Also the older style iPod connector cables dont seems to have an aux attachement. Any reason why? Sorry for the long first post! I expect this has been covered many times before. Hope someone can help! Oh oh forgot to add this is on a Columbus system, if that helps!
