  1. So I've tried to activate this but doesn't seem to work. I have a 2011 FL 1.4 (CAXA) with Maxidot and DSG. Anything else I can try or it's just not going to work?
  2. Could be a CV joint. And when power is applied it sounds worse.
  3. Cool. I'll do another scan tomorrow and see what version I have.
  4. Ah, ok. No way to view the software version via VCDS or only looking at the module.
  5. So I've scanned the car and I have the required 5M0907357C Module. I've found some info from a German site with the coding I need to change (the current coding there is the same as my car- LHD, 2WD, German market). I just need to find somewhere flat in front of a white wall to park so I can set the lights afterwards!
  6. Awesome. Thanks for the tip. Yeah I'm in no rush as I've ordered a Bluetooth handsfree to plug into the aux for the meantime and I need to sell my Pioneer sat-nav first too to have the funds.
  7. True. I'll wait till autumn. They do a thing here at the garages "light test" where they offer a free checkup of headlights, alignment and all other light functions before winter. You then get a sticker to put in the windscreen to say it's passed. Or they then only charge a small nominal fee to have adjustments made 😁👍
  8. And with regards to having to do the basic settings on the lights... Is my logic sound that if I park on a flat surface towards a wall, mark where the lights currently sit, do the basic settings and then adjust them to the marked position that this would work ok?
  9. Perfect. Thanks. I'll have to wait till I have the car and check the coding then. 😁👍
  10. Thread revival time! Just searching around for info on my new car and thought I'd revive a thread rather than create a new one. According to the vin search I got for the car it comes with AFS II. So does the FL Octavia have AFS II or ist this a mistake? It may be that it's a German market difference.
  11. Thanks guys. That's helpful. Yes I think you're right. Looking at the picture it certainly looks more like the Columbus picture. I think I remember buying a new facia for my previous octy. I bought it from the dealer I'm sure and only cost about 12 pounds. Will have to have a look on eBay and see what I can find. Obviously I need one that fits the FL climate too as they're a different shape I believe.
  12. Hi guys. Rather than opening a new thread I thought I'd ask here. I have a 2012 FL Octavia that current has the "Swing" radio in. Is this a direct swap for something like the PX6? Or I need a new facia? The Columbus looks smaller but then I think the Pumpkin is bigger than a Columbus and the Swing looks bigger too.

I've just found my old VCDS cable in the cellar. Bonus. Thought I'd sold it! The only thing I'll be missing is Bluetooth/sat-nav but I've ordered a decent phone mount that clips down the side of the stereo and Bluetooth thing that plugs into the aux and has a control and microphone. Also been looking at the Pumpkin PX6 9" Android stereo. Seems good value for money. But first. Just enjoy the car a bit. Picking it up hopefully this week and then we're driving down to the Mosel (where all the lovely German wine comes from) next Monday 😁👍

My dash cam hasn't been in for a long time. The battery is dead in it. So I either need to see about a new LiOn battery pack or get a new dash cam. But yeah. In principle I will be installing a dash cam again and will upload anything interesting. Although the driving is general good here. Also far less aggressive than the UK. But you still get the odd idiot! I think I may want to invest in a dual cam setup now.

Jein. It's basically the same block as the 1.9 CDTI (it's a Fiat/GM/Alfa block) but with many changes made to it. But it did suffer from failed swirl flaps being injested and also oil pump issues caused by a dodgy seal. So I reckon that was the cause.

Lol... Yeah but then it will be the angry Merc/BMW/Audi's on the Autobahn wanting to get past as I'm trying my hardest to accelerate! 😁😂🤣
  17. Hi guys, As some of you know/remember (or maybe you don't) I sold my 2008 Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI DSG some time back and since move to Germany with my 2008 Saab 9-3 convertible. Well since then it's not been plain sailing with the Saab. My Saab ownership consisted of: - Rough gear shifts- finally cured with several gearbox oil changes - One breakdown in France 40km from the Eurotunnel- Alternator and battery died - Starter motor went - Battery cable melted - Xenon bulbs had to be replaced - Swirl flaps broke and took it to someone reccomended to me who made a pigs ear of it and glued everything up resulting in massive boost leaks - Swirl flaps finally removed and sorted elsewhere - Further breakdown caused by blocked MAP sensor - Further breakdown caused by a siezed turbo- Both turbos replaced (they come complete as a set) at a cost of €1,000 - Final breakdown as the engine decided to eat itself for some reason 😞 But other than that it was a lovely car. Flew through 2 MOTs and a German TÜV. We've been to look at a car today and put a deposit down on it. Back in a Skoda! It's a 2012 Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG. The spec is a european spec called "Family" lol. Basically consists of: - Xenons - Auto lights - Auto wipers - Cruise control - 4 electric windows - Removeable factory fit towbar - Maxidot - Auto dim mirror Hopefully picking it up this week if all goes well. So, hi again guys!
