AUX input with aftermarket stereo
I'm pretty sure this is the connector looking at the wiring diagram for the swing: https://www.real.de/product/323087278/?kwd=&source=pla&sid=21600765&gclid=CjwKCAjwx9_4BRAHEiwApAt0zgjW7n8kyriXuFcoRPVNLUa2PrkgSQiF3Aw860E2beFj8NRm5zSk_hoCNBAQAvD_BwE Also, a sidenote of how funny I find it that a supermarket sells these kits. Guess that's how popular VAG cars are here!

AUX input with aftermarket stereo
Hi guys. I've searched around but can't find the answer I'm looking for. I've decided to fit the Pioneer F77DAB I already have rather than selling it to buy some cheap Chinese android thing. I think I've got together everything I need. The only thing I'm not sure of is how to connect the existing aux in under the armrest to the new stereo. The Pioneer has a standard 3.5mm input on the back. And the current Swing will have a big white plug. I could make up my own cable I suppose by splicing up an old 3.5mm cable I no doubt have lying around somewhere. But I prefer a neater solution if there is one. Anyone know of an adapter? Or where I could find a female socket that the white plug can connect to so make a proper adapter?

extinction of performance diesels
My 1.4 TSI also achieves peak torque at 1500rpm. And is able to maintain peak torque right to 4000rpm. And yeah. Agreed on the noise. All diesels just sound naff under 6 cylinders. The fake sounds pumped in are naff. And the tweaking of the exhaust also sounds naff as the rattle from the engine can still be heard.

It shouldn't be mega bucks then. If the clutches are still in order. The mechatronics is very easy to remove and refit. And there are recon kits available. Obviously the labour is going to be the biggest bill I reckon.

extinction of performance diesels
Peak torque and power figures are meaningless to me in the real world. I've gone from a 240bhp 490nm twin turbo diesel to a 1.4 122bhp and 200nm petrol. In all honesty the Octavia is a smoother drive, more responsive and just nicer to drive. Yes it doesn't quite move as quick with the throttle floored, but it's just as quick if not quicker off the line (weight probably is the key here). Gone is the loud growl of the diesel and loud tickover etc.

gearbox issue
It really is shocking they were allowed to get away without issuing a full recall. It's basically a ticking timebomb with the synthetic oil in. I watched a video just the other day about it. As above, it's the sulphur content in the synthetic oil that increases over time and eventually causes a short circuit in electronics and burns it out!

Automotive time traveller
Yeah it's basically a trick they use. Since they have an open diff, if a wheel starts to spin then just that wheel spins and no power goes to the other wheel. So the XDS applies the brake to the spinning wheel to force power back to the other wheel.

Automotive time traveller
Yeah. That's been my approach for years since I've had traction control. In cars varying between 100bhp & 250nm up to 240bhp & 490nm.

I think there is a slight learning curve. The temptation to try and manually intervene to the extend you usually would is the tricky but. It took my other half a while to adjust. The electronic systems would kick in, then with a manual intervention it can unsettle the car further. Since the car is making adjustments on the current situation and driver inputs. The biggest change will likely be the ASR/Traction Control. With wheelspin the system locks the spinning wheels and reduces throttle. So again, release the throttle at this point can results in a horrible jolt and sever loss of power.

gearbox issue
Put your VIN into here to see if it's part of the recall. Some 2012/2013 cars weren't from what I gather. My 2013 MY (2012 first registered) is not part of the recall.

Cornering fog lights. code with obd11?
It's called that since the lights are static (they don't move). There is another function called cornering lights where it's the actual headlight beams that move side to side.

Inlet manifold
There are inlet valve cleaners you can buy that you spray into the manifold. How affective one would be since they're so bad they're causing running problems I don't know. I see them more as a preventative tool. Will be using one every few months to try and keep things clean.

Inlet manifold
Unfortunately this is a problem with all modern direct injection engines. Back in the old days the fuel was injected before the valves so they constantly had petrol washing over them and kept them clean. Now the fuel injected directly into the cylinder. As above. It needs cleaning. There's places that do walnut blasting where they blast the inlet valves while also hooked up to suction to prevent debris getting into the head etc and clean up the valves.

No MFD on Maxidot
You also need to go into the canbus gateway installation list and remove it from there: https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/installation-list.php But thinking about it. Is your stereo switched on and off via canbus? If so this may interfere with that function.

No MFD on Maxidot
I remember when I fitted a Columbus to my previous Octavia. It had the same problem before I did a firmware update to it. If I went into Radio menu it would freeze. Usually fixed by turning the radio off. But that might not work for you. I think really the best permanent fix would be to deselect the radio module with VCDS to tell the car it doesn't have a radio installed anymore. There may be an adjustment to be made in the instruments module too to disable the Radio menu.

Water pump leaking - good offer to replace cam belt too!
It's also the case on the older 1.4 TSI. The water pump isn't driven from the cambelt.

I've also seen mention of 5 years on the 1.5 TSI. Or 120,000km.

The story of the famous DQ200 clutch slip...
P.s. I assume the gearbox needs warming up first before draining?

Ah cool. Thanks. Found them there. Slightly more expensive here but I prefer the idea of using the genuine VAG hydraulic oil.

Electric Scooters / Motor Cycles.
E-bikes (the pedal assisted bikes), electric scooters and electric mopeds are super popular over here in Germany. The E-bikes are only allowed to provide electric assistance up to 25km/h. I've ridden one and they are good. Really take the strain out of climbing hills. The scooters are limited to 20km/h, allowed to be used on cycle paths but are required to be registered and insured (they have a cute little number plate on the back). And the electric mopeds are super cool. They get away from the lights super quick but without any of that annoying noise usually associated with mopeds!

Cabin/Pollen Filter condition
Doesn't look too bad. When they've not been replaced for a while there's usually a load of crud that falls out like leaves and dirt etc. Be sure to get an active carbon filter. They provide better filtering.

Suggestions
I believe it's this gearbox: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_01M_transmission As with all automatic transmissions they need a gearbox oil change at some point. It's often neglected though. So either get it done before you buy or budget for it. Valve body problems are fairly common (due to poor maintenance).

That's shocking that they charged you for a cambelt change but didn't do it! Which engine is it?
